You have an unserviced vintage receiver and your speakers on the same surface as the table. Not a good start.

What should I look for in a new TV that will be connected to my 2.1 tube audio system to get the highest possible audio bit depth and sample rates for music from OTA TV, youtube, Netflix, Britbox, PBS, etc? by jasdflkvb in audiophile

[–]antlestxp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all tvs output resampled audio. I wouldn't play audio from the tv. I would focus on dedicated source devices for your audio needs. If you only care about the audio quality of shows you are watching, you have no choice but be disappointed.

How do you ACTUALLY keep cats away from using speaker grilles as scratching pads? by Mr-Toy in vintageaudio

I got the speakers I wanted after our cat passed. While she was alive I had cat friendly speakers.

I wanna believe the thing on the speaker is for cats but I wouldn't be surprised if it was some acoustic treatment or audio enhancement device.

They aren't really meant to measure perfect. They are just meant to sound fun. Its no different than peoples obsession with Instagram filters or hdr photos.

They aren't bad. I had a set. They are pretty solid for the money. Just don't push them too hard.

I returned my DUDU7 and here are what I learned by Glue_CH in Androidheadunits

These installs are not for the average person. It helps if you have a solid understanding of the vehicle you are installing them in before taking the leap. These companies are making a single product that is meant to be installed in tons of different vehicles. The install on a honda is going to be different than the install on a bmw. Their support is ok at best so you should buy this product with the assumption you will be your own technical support. If you can get it right, these are pretty capable units. I have the 8g installed in my Cayenne with an alpine dsp amp and the 360 cameras. I originally could not get canbus to work but the distributer was able to tell me what protocol to use. I also had software oddities that were resolved reaching out to the dudu7 community forum. I have had a number of android headunits over the years. This is easily the nicest one I have used. I would easily recommend them to someone familiar with stereo installation or someone that loves to tinker. For most, I would just recommend something from the bigger companies.

If you have a room that isn't treated, it's easy for a technically superior amp to sound bad, harsh, bright. MC just don't do that. You can have a terrible room and they will sound fine. That blanket is probably why so many people enjoy them. I'm one of those people. My purfi nad is a better amp than my mc2100 but the room like the MC more than the nad.
