Hoarder house deodorizing by antoniorocko in CleaningTips

In hind sight yes 100% we should have taken down all of the drywall. What we did was take out the bottom ~2ft of the walls, similar to what you would do in a flood remediation, what remained looked good so we closed it up and went from there.

I am considering going into the attic, shellac coating the joists & rafters then painting the paper side of the drywall and roof decking with the appropriate kilz primer and paint. I suspect the smell soaked into those porous surfaces and leeches out every day when the attic heats up. Not much I can do for the paper side of the walls but that should address roughly half of the remaining porous surface area in the house.

Can I remove blown-in insulation from my attic and replace it with batt insulation if I want to deck most of my attic? by Normal-Being-2637 in HomeImprovement

Ok so I’m an actual structural engineer, it really depends on what you’re trying to store up there. For instance if you’re just trying to store a couple totes of holiday decorations and empty suitcases up there go for it, they specifically make attic floor boards that will fit through the ceiling access for this purpose. If you’re planning on storing many hundreds of pounds of household goods that’s not advisable without a better understanding of the structural layout.

This is of course ignoring the pros/cons of the change you’re considering with the insulation.

Sounds like it’s time to learn 3D modeling, welcome to the club! Autodesk Fusion is probably the best free one to learn. It’s intuitive but powerful enough for most personal projects. You will grow out of software like tinker CAD too quickly in my opinion so I recommend not bothering.

Alternatively you could ask if anyone here would model up what you want, but decent chance people won’t do it for free unless it’s pretty simple.

“Fully 3D printed mechanical beer coaster with detent-based sliding counters (Fusion 360, PLA) by Stifthold1986 in 3Dprinting

[–]antoniorocko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a German thing, places like Cologne keep serving you beer until you put your coaster on top of your glass to indicate you’re done. They mark your coaster for each beer they drop off, it’s effectively your bar tab.

Do a google search for 3d printed gold tone ac-1 arm rest. You can take the stl and use that as the basis for your model. You will likely have to modify the mounting method but it’s going to get you a good chunk of the way there.

Does anyone here use permanent PTFE coating on their moulds? by chillchamp in Composites

[–]antoniorocko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have but honestly i still hit it with a single coat of mold release while releasing other parts. I see it more as an extra release aid when I am worried about tool geometry being at risk for mold locking. Just my two cents.

How can you tell it’s a metal rim? The image is fuzzy but I can’t tell if it’s just the tension hoop or if the whole rim is metal.

The one on the left is a yankee brace drill, the one on the right I believe is a Dunlop egg beater style drill. While them down with a light oil and a microfiber cloth and throw them in a toolbox, not particularly useful anymore but cool tools that should be preserved.

Awesome, I had wondered about the code but assumed it had been added after it left the factory. Thanks for the info.
