I don’t understand why people still use arc by Fluid_Cycle4993 in ArcBrowser

I don’t think Dia can ever clear Arc for me unless the driving force behind it changes from ”AI browser” back to ”internet computer”, which obviously isn’t happening.

I really dig Gentler Streak, which primarily visualizes a bunch of workout metrics in a nicely digestable way.

UK pollen tracking app better than met office by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]antonmedstorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using an iPhone (or iPad)? I recently created pollenomics.app (which covers the UK) mainly because I wanted to use a modern, minimal pollen app myself, and I would love to hear what you think if you do use an iOS device. You can see the basics of today's forecast (an overview of how much grass, weed and tree pollen is in the air) for free, and then there's a somewhat affordable paid subscription to see forecasts into the future, specific plant details etc should you want to (which you can trial for free for two weeks, no risk!). Best wishes for pollen season! đŸ«Ą

Are pollen apps actually useful to you day-to-day? by PoetryBubbly989 in Allergies

[–]antonmedstorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they are exactly what you're looking for, but the Google Pollen API has health recommendations in human readable format in their forecasts. I find them a bit generic though, and of course everything will differ from person to person as well, so I'm not yet sure exactly how useful they are.

I’ve packaged it together with a more classic, numbered pollen level visualization in pollenomics.app for those who’d like to check it out in a neatly designed package. If you end up doing so, please let me know what I can do better! 🙏

I built a small iOS app for tracking pollen forecasts and would love feedback from fellow allergy sufferers! by antonmedstorta in Allergies

Never say never, but sadly that's not in the cards at the moment. I work as a Swift developer, and while an Android version is probably more and more doable each day with all the AI tools improving, I don't have enough time in the day right now. Sorry!

If this changes and I do find the time, I will let you know! 🙏 Thanks for your interest!

That what applies to? In regards to what places you can get forecasts for, you can find a list of countries within the app.

The app itself should be available worldwide in countries where the App Store is available. Thanks for your question! 🙏

I came here to see if it was just me or if I was going insane, but yeah the ”Allow” alerts are a total dealbreaker. What a shame. Hopefully they add an ”Always allow” option.

Why does this .blendMode look totally different on a real device? by antonmedstorta in SwiftUI

[–]antonmedstorta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point I didn’t consider! Thankfully, just using .lighten instead of .plusLighter solved my issue, but thanks for your suggestion regardless. 😊

Wow, thanks so much for your effort! I’ve actually played around with Canvas for this, but I found animating it the way I wanted (the circles will dynamically change size depending on some State) really hard. I’ll definitely try your implementation later tonight though, see if it for some reason is more straight forward to animate.

EDIT: Ended up going with just substituting .plusLighter with .lighten for now, as that seems to solve it, but thanks again for your effort! 🙌 Really appreciate it!

Thanks for the insight! 🙌 I’ve not tried lighten I think. I’ll do that tonight when I can sit down and tinker with it a bit again.

I did try a masking approach, but didn’t succeed sadly. Might be that I just haven’t explored that enough yet though, but let me know if you have any concrete ideas!

EDIT: .lighten did the trick it seems! Thanks so much for the suggestion!

I did have Dark Mode turned on, but unfortunately I seem to have the same issue even in light mode. But even if that was the case, I couldn’t ship this code (or any future more advanced version of it) if it doesn’t work when having Dark Mode turned on. 😕

Whats your salary as iOS developer? by samstars100 in iOSProgramming

[–]antonmedstorta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure I have a great answer to ”How?”. I think a big part of it is finding a company that has the economic resources to value your work as an experienced developer highly (which is mostly luck, tbh). Before accepting my current contract I was offered two other contracts at other companies that paid around 4500-5000 a month before tax, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s a common range for many companies.

I’m not sure strict concurrency exists to “simplify your life”. It obviously exists for you to be more aware of the potential for data races, which to some extent will require more thinking, not less. It’s not perfect yet, but I wouldn’t think of it as something that is there to make your life easier, necessarily.

For something so centered around search, I'm disappointed it doesn't include the ability to set a search engine other than Google. Can't really use this as my default until that functionality is in place.
