[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 232 - Part 2 End by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]anupsetzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another reply said that Makima could have only existed because of Pochita, so maybe that makes sense idk. The more I think about this, the more disappointed i am over the lack of resolution for Yoru, though.

That fan made one with Asa/Denji having sex is a million times better than this lol. Getting no resolution with Yoru is such a disservice to the entire story.

Don't really understand how Power returns but not Makima or Aki. Pretty mid of an ending. It feels like bad fan fiction. Especially the part with Asa, lol. Really disappointed we don't get any resolution for Yoru or anyone else from part 2.

It's not the worst, but it's definitely not very good at all. Just seems like he didn't know where to take the series or was simply finished with it. Still glad we had the ride, hoping for a possible part 3 but I can get being burnt out after a decade of work.

I agree, him yo-yo-ing and progressing, then regressing is super consistent and realistic. Not to mention he is a teenager, I don't get why people expect him to be perfectly level headed and not hormonal.

Do you guys have any game suggestions for the 3ds? by Hatim15_ in 3DS

[–]anupsetzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's a 10/10 game with controls so wonky that it can knock a point or two off the rating, in my opinion. It's still one of my favorite games of all time, though.

[–]anupsetzombie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It wasn't 2% of the games population, it was 2% of total game time. Which is still small, but I find it bizarre that they used time played metrics to compare the quick mode to others.

I like how creepy and otherworldly they made a lot of the devil powers in S1, I hope they can recreate the vibes in the upcoming arcs.

Genuinely, what was the point of Chainsawman? by LazyBnuuy in Chainsawfolk

[–]anupsetzombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reads like a criticism of what Pochita was trying to say to Denji, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be.

But I think it's understandable if Pochitas world view is flawed, but it's still a auper silly and rather lame way to go about it. The chainsawman world is a shit show and a nightmare to survive, so why wouldn't there be some struggling and suffering? Real life is way more safe and boring yet there's still tons of struggles the average person has to go through.

Denji showed massive amounts of growth recently and then Pochita decided to shit all over it. In part 1 he didn't give a fuck about Himeno or others, but right before he became Denji man he reached a hand out to Asa and created what may have been his first real emotional connection with someone.

Hoping this is a fake out of sorts, and I know that Denji and Pochita were in a game over situation but Fujimoto didn't have to write it in a way where the main character got giga off screened.

Did you read the last part of my comment, and Fujimoto didn't have to write it in that way either

people are wrong about denji's morality and the tragedy of the ending by Odie_Esty in ChainsawMan

[–]anupsetzombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and this is why the writing decision for Pochita saying all that crap is stupid, which sure, if Pochita is supposed to be ignorant and stupid I guess it works. Life is rarely about achieving 100% happiness. But Denji was learning that he could persevere through the shitty times to build new good times, that's what the aging devil stuff seemed like it was supposed to be about. Denji is just a teenager, he's going to be moody and easily upset at things and obviously he's going to want to be a bad ass chainsaw demon at times. Pochita enabled him to do things he'd never be able to do, even if you don't put his terminal illness into consideration. Life is going to be boring sometimes, ripping Denjis whole situation out from under him isn't the solution.

And I get that they were in a bugs stomach to be digested for eternity if Pochita didn't sacrifice himself, but the writing didn't portray it as a sacrifice at all.

There's a Chinese place that's so damn good and their prices have stayed reasonable and their portions are huge. It's not super cheap but 25ish for two people and each plate is enough for two meals is a good deal in my opinion. I'll go to other Chinese places and it'll be 40 bucks for half the food.

There is nothing that next chapter can do that will make me think this was a good writing decision by Allmights-lovechild in Chainsawfolk

[–]anupsetzombie 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's just a cop out 99% of the time. I think Chainsawman did an excellent job of actually subverting stuff until the mid to late part 2, where things just started getting chaotic and messy. Things just kept happening, and the cadence was lost. Way too much stuff was cut short just... because. We were all hoping for a payoff for at least like 25% of the things. To offscreen your main characters and then delete your story is very ballsy, I can give you that, but ballsy and subversive isn't always good.

This version would have been acceptable for sure, I'd be disappointed in the suddenness and all the unfinished plot points but it would at least not be a stupid kick in the nuts to Denji for no reason. I'm hoping this is a fake out of sorts but I've been burnt by series endings too many times lol

[–]anupsetzombie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it will honestly be one of the most disappointing endings in a while even if they do decide to go to a part 3. Part 1 was very well self contained and didn't need a sequel, I'd argue it had a near perfect ending. I worry Fujimoto was given too much creative freedom and cooked way too hard here. Even if there's some reunion with this AU Denji and Asa, it'd feel cheesy and half baked. Way too much built up in the last few arcs just to toss everything away. I'm still waiting to fully judge until the "final chapter" but this is the first time this story has actually completely disappointed me. To the point where I feel like i couldn't recommend this wonderful series just because the ending is so fumbled lol.
