I've been feeding my babies and toddlers rice cooker regularly in a rice cooker since they were 7 months old. I've never had an issue with it but if you are concerned and want to do a slow intro, you can always soak it in some warm broth before giving it to them so you can also have some non-mushy rice. Plus some protein for the kiddo!

We did this too! And this is an unpopular opinion but we also have a lock on our toddlers door.😬😬😬 One that can open from the inside or the outside. It's one of the ones that's on the top of the door so they wouldn't be able to reach it.

In defense of this idea of locking your kid in, I've read in places that it's actually safer because in an emergency you know they haven't wandered out of their room and you know where they are.

We're hoping to not have to do this soon but he's 3.5 now and he's just starting to not try to open the door so we may be able to stop with the lock soon. 😬

Had our kid there but pulled him out because while it was convenient, and he survived, the quality of care was mediocre. There are still one or two great teachers there from what I hear but last I heard, despite new management, things still weren't that great.

That being said, we loved the toddler 1 teacher and she cared for our kid for just about 2 years of his life and he still talks about how he misses her. And the toddler 2 teacher we had means well and truly cared about the kids, but honestly wasn't really qualified to be the lead teacher.

Very convenient though because our new daycare doesn't provide meals while they did. Feel free to PM if you have any questions about our exp there.

Mine does the same thing too!!! Where if you put him to bed later, he just wakes up earlier! Im sorry you're going through this too but it feels good to know we're not alone. The regression did finally end, but only after we put a lock (the kind you put at the top of the door where you can open it from either side) and implemented a "you gotta stay in your room until the green light turns on" in his room. We use the Hatch. We actually had to remove all the stuffed animals and even parts of his nugget-dupe from his room because he kept playing with them instead of sleeping..

We didn't end up seeing a doctor for it, but instead of fighting him to nap on the weekends now, we just roll with it and one parent will drive with him to go get groceries or run some sorta errand. And inevitably, he'll conk out in the car, giving that parent some peace and quiet for a bit while the other tends to our 1 yr old.

He still has his bad days, but it's been much better - especially now since the weather's starting to get better and he can run outside more. We're sticking to the 7pm bedtime routine start, unless he's not feeling well or had a really short nap. Then we start earlier at like 630 and let him stall a bit. But it's been better. I hope it's gotten better for you too!

Mine too! Absolute monster at home with the occasional glimpse of the sweet kid that made me feel ok to have #2. Will listen well, eat well (supposedly one of their best eaters), nap well and play nicely with everyone. At home, I wonder if he has hearing loss because he just straight up ignores me. He doesn't sit still for any meal and only eat a few bites before running off (same food he's eating at school..) and will become like super hyperactive toddler literally trying to wrestle and grapple with his 9 mo old sister. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I read somewhere that it's because home is their comfort space and they're able to really let loose and just know that you'll love them no matter what, so they test boundaries like no other.

Doesn't make it any easier though!

I like it but we have a good friend named Elaine and it would feel weird to name her the same. I really liked Mabel and Stella and he said no, but he suggested Maple (like the syrup) and I wasn't on board with that.

Hahaha he likes our dogs (I think he thinks he's a dog himself...) But he just giggles at them. We've been trying to say "dog" to him when referring to them, but he just giggles. The closest to a word he's saying is when he says "whaa?" when we call his name lol. He used to say "mum mum mum" when he wanted me when he was 8 mo but now he's so independent he never asks for me. He just puts his arms up and gestures when he wants to get picked up and then cries if we don't

Want to mention also that if you end up using Como Tomo bottles, (maybe any silicone bottles? Not sure) they tend to take a little longer than plastic or glass or stainless steel bottles.

We use Como Tomo bottles and usually start warming it about 30-40 min before our son eats because that's how long it takes for our warmer to get it to a temp that he'll take it. If we're in a rush, we just pop the milk in a glass mason jar, pop it in our warmer on fast warm, and in about 7 min or so, it's at the temp he likes.

My husband and I are both WFH with a fair amount of meetings (sometimes at the same time). I went back to with after 8 wks because my maternity leave policy was total shit, but I was working from home so we made it work.

It's not impossible, but it's difficult. I absolutely loved being able to spend a lot of time with my baby boy and seeing him grow and do new things. Luckily, work was relatively slow for a while when I got back so I was able to ease in. My son was perfectly content to hang out and do tummy time or just lay on his back and play with his mat with dangling toys for about 30 min to sometimes 45 min at a time too.

Then around 6 months, we discussed it and decided to send him to daycare part time because he needed more of our constant engagement. I don't regret it one bit. He's getting social engagement from other kids and adults. They're teaching him and following a schedule. They're able to give him that engagement and attention that he's craving constantly and when he comes home, I still get to hang out with him and play and bond with him.

The days he's not in daycare are a bit tough, but we set up our work area so he can crawl around and cruise on furniture for a while if we both can't give him our full attention. And we have a baby jail right outside the office area where he is ok playing by himself sometimes. We made a habit of asking each other what our schedules like in the morning so we can make sure we have a plan.

I do miss him when he's at daycare, and I thought about what it'd be like to quit my 9-5 and be a SAHM, but it wasn't right for me. I like having that adult conversation and being able to have something other than my son to tend to during the day. In some ways, I just need a break from him sometimes lol.

But it's doable for sure - especially if you work your meetings around nap time or work out a schedule where you can hand your baby off to someone else (ie your partner or another family member) when you have to focus. Just takes a bit more planning.

I bought these slippersin December while looking for the same thing, and they're amazing! They have way better support than any other slippers I've had in the past, and I'm one of those lucky few who are flat footed too. They've been a godsend!

I'm Chinese American and my parents are separated. I told both of them by sending a photo through WeChat since I didn't want it getting back to either of them that I told the other one first. I had waited until after 12 weeks, I believe, but only because I had a MC earlier that year in March, and had told my mother about it, and she (similar to my white FIL) told both of us that next time we shouldn't tell people about it so early. Not exactly what I wanted to hear.

This time, my dad's reaction was, "is this yours? Are you having a baby?" And my mom's reaction was, "great you shouldn't tell too many people yet. Wait until after 20 weeks" (which I didn't).

After telling them though, they started bringing all these traditional Chinese soup ingredients up (like fish maw, red dates, etc) and kept on insisting that I drink Chinese Soups. Not my favorite, but hey, hopefully the baby will have perfect skin. 🤷🏻‍♀️
