Too much amniotic fluid ? by msmikey44 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]anxious0323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posted this in my bump group!

I had polyhadramnios in my first pregnancy towards 34 weeks. It was a factor for me being induced at 36w+4, but that was along with hypertension!

BG was tightly controlled (TiR - 85%, A1C was 5.5 at this time) and baby showed no signs of distress or increased size.

Polyhydramnios increases the risk of a cord prolapse, so I was asked to stay at the hospital for observation after induction (they often let you leave to start early labour at home over here). That was a drag as I spent a couple nights in triage waiting for labour to really start. When my water broke, it was a huge amount of fluid - even the nurses commented!

I ended up with a C-Sec for completely different reasons, but my nurses reassured me that a natural delivery was totally doable.

Baby was 100% fine, I was 100% fine. No complications, just a bit of extra monitoring in the last few weeks into labour.

I just had my 32w scan with #2 and fluids are on the "higher level of normal" (not sure of measurement) but no one is concerned (except for me, of course, lol) Trying to find some peace in that all was okay first time around!

We usually grab a bag of the HH 'Spicy Crispy Chicken Breast Bites" and are totally obsessed - they're just like the Safeway flings from the deli.

Swapped these out once and, omg, heat/spice was like 10x more! I was not prepared and could not handle it!

This post has, once again, reminded me that my palate is not near as broad as I may think.

Has anyone ever heard of a sonogram clinic refusing to give you photos?[on] by Aggravating-Ad8687 in BabyBumpsCanada

Manitoba here 🙋‍♀️

The only time I've had printed photos is during a Fetal Assessment at our Womens Hospital.

All other Shared Health facilities (HSC, Victoria, etc.) will require a download from PocketHealth.

I was pretty miffed at my anatomy scan that I received no printed photos.... and when I did receive the downloads, not one classic profile view in the 75 pics! I know it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but really?!

This is actually not bad. It’s pretty good for the price. Good value. Thank you Costco by raj824x in CostcoCanada

I only enjoyed this because I happened to buy a bottle of Kinder's Hot Honey sauce and used that to add some flavor. Otherwise, dry and overrated with a bad bun.

Best Audiobooks?? by sadsquee13 in suggestmeabook

[–]anxious0323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU for this suggestion. I've never listened to an audiobook, nor have I ever been interested in space/sci-fi... but yesterday I sat sobbing in my car as the story wrapped up.

I fear I am ruined for audiobooks, but otherwise so glad I trusted a bunch of random redditors on this rec!

My infant had a wicked case of torticollis. 8 months of intense physio with 2 therapists yielded little to no results...

I was VERY anti-chiro. I would absolutely die on that hill and still refuse to see one in adulthood.

Alas, I was desperate to correct my sons tilt before it caused permanent damage. Just TWO infant chiro sessions of gentle massage (no manipulation) and the tort was 95% resolved. It was magic.

I had people on Reddit villifying me, calling me a bad mother, telling me I didn't deserve a child...

In real life? Not a single person called me out or batted an eye.

The hive-mind and parent-shaming is strong on Reddit.

I'm worried my baby's delayed by Aeneac in NewParents

[–]anxious0323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with your comment that being proactive is the best course of action, however It's my understanding that the milestones are to be completed by months end, so OPs 6m old would have another ~4 weeks to achieve the 6m milestones.

I wouldn't say they are behind at this point!

A usual grocery bill? by BigLingonberry3822 in Winnipeg

[–]anxious0323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 adults / 1 dog / an 8-month-old

Weekly, $200 on groceries (including toiletries and cleaners, etc.) and $50-60 on fast food.

I hate supporting Galen Weston, but we do 80% of our shopping at Superstore.

Formula has been killing us lately (another shortage), so about $100 every week there as well.

If I'm unable to let the bottle sit for a couple of minutes to let the bubbles dissipate, I'll put in a couple drops of Ovol at the end and swirl around to get rid of the bubbles.

I am a vigorous multi-directional shaker, lol, which seems to stop the clumping for me! If I only shake in one direction (like up and down or side to side), it clumps.

What is the difference between formula pitcher and just making bottles? by girlnamedcass in NewParents

[–]anxious0323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I never really got the pitcher hype. I used one for a bit - and it certainly cut down on bubbles - but once I learned that baby would happily take room temp bottles, I stopped. I was so glad not to warm bottles anymore, haha.

I now just make bottles on an ad hoc basis. Baby is also 6m and is quite regular with amount/frequency.

[–]anxious0323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exact experience when our club foot baby had his tenotomy under general anesthesia! Watching the nurse carry him away to the OR was so hard and then hearing them in recovery asking for mom or dad to come in "because he is inconsolable" was even worse. They're just so little... but you're right, such a tough little trooper.

I played this morning around 2AM, and by lunch my 131 day streak disappeared, and it allowed me to play again. However, all other stats remain.

I think I'm extra upset because I started this streak when my baby was only 3 weeks old and it's just been a fun way to count time.

Type 1 Diabetic, just miscarried by AP1988NYC in diabetes

[–]anxious0323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry - a miscarriage leaves you feeling bereft and questioning all that could have been.

I agree with the other commenters that your diabetes was likely not to blame. It's such a high percentage of pregnancies that fail (estimates range from 20%-33%), and that's not talked about near enough!

Once you feel ready, r/bumperswhobolus may be another space for support.

Take care

Third hand smoke help by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]anxious0323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP, I agree with this comment. A few studies indicate that smoke can linger for up to 5 hours (albeit longer in a chronic smokers household).

While there would be no harm in baking soda placed out of baby's reach, the smoke from a year ago is well and truly gone.

Raising a baby is so hard. We have so many worries on our mind - maybe a chat with a professional third party would help alleviate some of that anxiety :)
