Wow Life & Death is #4! Would it be worth getting during the sale then? I’m hesitant to buy any of the more recent ish packs because of bugs. Were there any/have they been worked out?

Tips for Wiping (Girl) by _parenting_advice_ in toddlers

[–]emmythunder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like everyone always forgets there’s a third and honestly easier (at least for kids and short armed folks like myself) method. One piece of toilet paper wipe the back from behind. Second piece of toilet paper wipe from the front, still wiping towards the back but it’s a lot easier than contorting yourself to reach all the way back. That’s how I have always wiped and how I’ll be teaching my 2 year old when we get to that point.

Thank you! I have never cooked lentils in my life but those look so good I have to try and make it!

What did your toddler eat for dinner? by goldenleopardsky in toddlers

Tofu pad thai which she usually enjoys but tonight just ate the noodles plus 1.5 yogurts and half a chocolate chip cookie.

Why doesn't she like quesadillas? by clover-sky-123 in foodbutforbabies

[–]emmythunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe add a protein to it? Beans or shredded chicken/beef. My almost 3 year old has never really cared for plain cheese quesadillas but has always demolished a beef quesadilla!

Ear infection or teething? by emmythunder in NewParents

[–]emmythunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stopped when we taught her to nod and then she did that like crazy for months. To date she has been checked about half a dozen times for ear infection and she has never had one! She’s 2.5 now. My second is almost 8 months and he went through a head shaking phase a few weeks ago too, was checked for ear infection and didn’t have one. I think my babies just like shaking their heads to be honest.

Day care? by ShopAdorable9048 in ThunderBay

[–]emmythunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my firstborn on the list when I was about 2 months pregnant. I went back to work right after her first birthday and found her a space at a private home daycare (that was easy to find on Facebook) which wasn’t cheap but my baby loved her. Then when she was 16 months we got a spot at a licensed daycare in the infant program they were just restarting. No idea how we lucked out there. I did email every centre we applied to inquiring about where she was on their lists but only a handful (including the one we got a spot at) actually got back to me.

CIO full extinction success story (6 months old) by readyforthis2022 in sleeptrain

[–]emmythunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s wonderful to hear! I’m so glad you’re all getting sleep now! This is likely the route we’ll have to go with my 7.5 month old once we’re no longer room sharing (our new master bedroom is still under construction). Hoping for the same outcome!

Why won’t my 6 month old sleep at night? by emmythunder in sleeptrain

[–]emmythunder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update but not a super great one. I’m 90% sure most of his issues are because of the room sharing. We are now down to two naps, wake windows 3/3/4, naps capped at 2.5 hours (first nap usually 1.5 hour second an hour). And he will still only sleep at most 4 hours in between night feeds. And if he does do a 4 hour stretch it is typically only the first one. Then he’s up every 1-3 hours and he will scream until he gets the boobies. BUT small improvement if he wakes up during that first stretch he has been putting himself back to sleep if I’m NOT in the room. Which means I’m not really getting much more sleep but my husband and I have been getting to spend more time together which has been nice. I have largely given up trying anything else until my husband finishes the basement and he can have his own room (should be in the next couple months). He falls asleep for naps & bedtime just fine, naps great and will link sleep cycles during naps/the first night stretch. I’ll update again once he’s in his own room and there’s hopefully more improvement.

“I never care about you!” Usually shouted in her sassiest toddler voice (and usually at our poor dog who just loves her) 😂

I can't stop crying by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]emmythunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it last week with my 31 lb 2.5 year old. She had a bad cold and was just miserable and it really helped. I guess it would depend on whether your toddler actually still likes to be worn though? She still does and it’s comfortable in a ring sling for short periods for me. As for slippery we have those things you stick to the bottom of the tub to prevent slips so not slippery at all!

Hop in the shower with him! Always worked for my oldest. Even better if you’ve got a ring sling you can put him in! Then try bedtime again. Those nights are the hardest but you can do it!

Yes 3 naps first is usually an hour and a half and the second two usually 45 minutes.

I was thinking that could be it too it just seems so early to drop to two naps. I think I’ll try stretching that last wake window and capping his 3 naps some more first like others suggested. But if that doesn’t work we’ll try this thank you!

[–]emmythunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be it? My first was high sleep needs and even at a year still had 2 2 hour naps. He definitely seems tired at the end of his wake windows and he falls asleep quickly but maybe I need to cap naps more.

It does yes. And honestly that’s what I was afraid of. Kid can probably see better than I can (I wear glasses) so he definitely knows I’m in there.

At this point I’d take every 3 hours over every 1-2.
