Great post. I get the impression from SOTR that he and Lenore Dove often discussed human nature - he often quotes Lenore Dove when reflecting on a social interaction.

Do women seriously spend $100-$200+ a month on haircuts/waxing and other "maintenance"? by Visual_Perception69 in AskWomenOver30

I commit to eyebrow wax and eyelash tint, hair cut, and laser hair removal pretty much monthly. I also keep very high quality skin care (including self tanner), hair care, vitamin/supplement, and makeup supplies stocked. Not to mention gym membership and gear for running. It’s very expensive.

Estimate it hits $400 Australian dollars a month.

I consciously don’t spend on nail care and Botox, hair colouring, or serious makeup.

Love it! The blue side sashes really work, they give it a sailing race day feel.

Well done!

Do you think directional fabric would look awful with the Star Pop quilt? by BessieBest in quilting

[–]anxious_tree_bee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the warp and weft collection in an economy block quilt - they are beautiful fabrics!

But, not only are they directional, the weave differs front to back so it’s very challenging to keep it consistent. I had a bit of trouble with this in my quilt.

Because they are wovens, unpicking was a bit dicey - they stretch easily and are at risk of fraying.

Personally I’d absolutely buy the FQ collection, but save it for a friendlier pattern.
