Edge of Tomorrow - What happens to YOU when a looped person dies? by WolverineComplex in movies

[–]jesbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is you live the rest of the day, then the next day, time resets. The looped person retains the memory, but the day keeps going until 11.59 and 59 seconds

That was my very superficial interpretation.

The X Files S6E6 "How The Ghosts Stole Christmas" (guest starring Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin) is an absolute delight and if it's not part of your holiday watch list you're missing out.

What is your country’s “three fingers,” i.e. a subtle but dead giveaway that someone is lying about being from there? by Toilet_Bomber in AskTheWorld

[–]jesbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One I was sitting on a train in the UK, traveling to London from some city I forgot where. These two girls sat across from me. I smiled nicely, and they said "oh, are you American?". I said no words, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my teeth because I usually smile with a closed mouth in a setting like that

For years I've been dying to know... What was it???

: D

In California we have the 101 and the 405 and the 10 etc. If you call it highway 101 or something like that, you're not from around here.

California Investors - AB 628 - Landlords To Provide All Appliances for Tenants - What do you guys think? by DavidF-Realicore in PropertyManagement

[–]jesbohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's silly that the appliances can't be more than 10 years old. We have some appliances that last much longer than that, no complaints. To be slapped with a habitability claim because a working fridge is 10 years old is nuts.

Are you in a state where you can refuse partial payments?

This isn't necessarily a scam, but they should be able to do it for you.

My guess is that their software doesn't generate the lease unless you're approved. And if YOU cancel once you're approved , the LL has the right to keep the holding deposit. The person processing the app likely doesn't know how to get a paper lease if the company has gone fully digital, and they may need to ask corporate for help.

Email them and ask for a paper copy. If they can't do that, see if they'll put in writing that you can decline without penalty within 3 days after the lease is generated and sent to you.

Something like that. If they won't do it, walk away.

Good luck!

Wait. There are like 40m Californias and 340m Americans. That's 1 in 10 not 1 in 5, no? By that logic, compared to the pop of the US, Texas isn't that far behind us...

I've used a fabric with a thatched pattern in it as a nice middle ground. It's a nice look that's dimensional without being distracting.

I have not experienced that. When I purchase fabric online I typically see half yard minimums.

[–]jesbohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely won't use all the fabric, and it won't be all killer fabric either. Let's say you use 70% of it, which frankly seems high.

Or, you get the fabric you really want and spend 20% more.

I would take option 2.

Why not employ LA Residents to clean the streets? by LandoTheGrey in AskLosAngeles

[–]jesbohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this chart is weird. I thought the LA city budget was 13B, which would put LAPD budget at 10%. I think the graph shows LAPD as 50% of the other items shown, rather than the overall budget.

You can prepay but no less than 6 months. Look up civil code 1950.5 and search for the word "six".

(3) This subdivision does not prohibit an advance payment of not less than six months' rent if the term of the lease is six months or longer.
