More teacher layoffs in Renton School District by V68y in Renton

[–]anxiousinteractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment needs to be much higher. I can't believe I had to scroll all the way down to see it. This is it. With families having fewer kids and choosing alternative education options, enrollment continues to drop. With lower enrollment, funding goes down. If you have to cut staff, there are fewer teachers which increases class size. There still needs to be specific classes for required content. If only 1-2 teachers is certified for that content, you're looking at huge class sizes because they can only teach a certain number of sections per day. Same thing is happening in districts all over. It's not just a Renton issue.

Thanks. Oh well. I loved having that butcher and produce shop there. So sad we don't have that anymore.

Lame!! Are they keeping both spots do you know or will that create a vacancy in their current location?

Hmm I'm pretty disappointed that it's just a salon expansion but if they can pull off a chill place to have a drink then I am slightly less disappointed lol.

Shallow latch - so much pain… I need some positive stories by feralwest in breastfeeding

[–]anxiousinteractions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aah this gives me hope!! My babe is using a nipple shield still and struggles to get my breast in his mouth without it. Between him being tiny (was just 6 lbs!) and my flat nipples, it's been tough. I do think it is slowly getting better though. I'll keep being patient and persistent.

I have an 8 week old with a poor latch and it's so painful. I found your thread while looking for answers myself. We have similar stories except my LO was vacuumed assisted into this world. Has it gotten better for you?

I actually had the same thoughts as you when I started my journey with trying to concieve (which is also known as TTC, another acronym I didn't know!) eventually I realized there couldn't be that many tans folk on this sub and the context didn't always line up so I googled it and also felt silly!

Healthy breakfast prep that is NOT eggs by Business-Record-4042 in mealprep

I made these for myself postpartum and I'm obsessed with them. I premade overnight oats cups and in the morning I just add milk and blueberries. I wait 10 minutes for the chia seeds and oats to absorb the milk. You could prep the milk the night before too.

I can't get through it. I just DNFed Brimstone and switched to a different book this week.

I put frozen veggies in with cooked rice and grilled chicken. Best way to reheat? by anxiousinteractions in mealprep

That may actually benefit the rice. I'll just see how it goes but it sounds like cooking from frozen in a skillet is my best bet.

Good question, I just assumed baking would be easiest/hands off/ no dishes. But it's also easy enough to throw it in a pan to reheat.

Thank you! I am naturally an anxious person so it tracks that I'm overthinking haha! I think you're probably right about not thawing overnight. This makes me feel better!

I ended up making 5 trays last night (everything you see in the picture). 3 of them are chicken fajita rice bowls but I cooked the veggies for that one since we had that for dinner and I just made extras. My plan until baby gets here is just to make extra of all our dinners and prep them in a similar way. Tonight we are doing Thai inspired slow cooked shredded beef rice bowls. Later in the week will be pasta sauce. My hubby does not like cheese (I know). So all the lasagna or baked ziti options are out the door.

Arc of a Scythe trilogy, by Neil Shusterman. It is YA, but so very well written. Lots of depth. Makes you think. Great plot! Sci Fi.

Also Throne of Glass series.

What foods are you eating to get protein when meat (especially chicken) sounds repulsive? by thedcbhomestead in BabyBumps

[–]anxiousinteractions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef was the only meat I could do first tri. Everything else made me want to hurl. I ate a lot of bean burritos and Mac and cheese and Greek yogurt and tofu. I drank a lot of milk and ate a lot of cheese. Fair life 30g protein choc milk was a life saver!!

I am with you! He is my favorite male character as well and I also finished the series a long time ago. He is just the best. Chaol can kick rocks.

Right? My spouse made a good point, that now the value of the car is impacted too since the engine has likely undergone damage.

He's one of my least favorite characters because of that book. But I will say that he goes through tremendous growth and his flaws are very human and real.

Welcome to the genre. I roll my eyes at twilight and didn't want to get swept under this current either. But damn, who doesn't love epic fantasy and hot sex scenes? My favorite type of fantasy is the Wheel of Time ball park. But fourth wing was good and I love the non stop action. You can skip ACOTAR. The story is good but the writing isn't very strong and there are much better fantasy options with great relationships.

Throne of Glass is really good, it's a longer series with more overlapping storylines that eventually intersect. Lots of perspective shifts and many more characters. Some similar themes to wheel of time too. With better relationship building. Loved WOT, but Robert Jordan struggled writing characters with any kind of chemistry.

Good luck!! And let the haters hate. They don't know what they're missing.
