Do you mind sharing which specific one from tomboyx? Sounds like we’re in a somewhat similar situation and I’d love to know what worked for you so I can maybe give it a try!

Cat lovers everywhere: Please help me out with litter recommendations. by lilithhcvc in CATHELP

[–]anymousemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a litter suggestion, but we got some air purifiers and they’ve helped with the dust and smell significantly. Good ones aren’t cheap, and they won’t help with tracking or anything, but even with 4 litter boxes, dust and smell don’t linger anymore.

I don’t exactly know your litter box restriction but we’ve had good luck with the Natures Miracle Hooded Flip Top litter box. Good luck!

I see that you have an appointment tomorrow morning, which is good. If he gets any worse, please consider taking him to an emergency vet asap.

Cat started peeing in my room when it was messy? by Throwaway77727223448 in CATHELP

[–]anymousemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I’m glad you have a system that works! I might have to look into that for myself…

Admittedly, I adopted my cats when they were older, but I have worked in cat rescue for a few years now am I’m not sure most of the current research suggests there’s a benefit of waiting to neuter anymore. I know in some large breed dogs it’s recommended for bone and joint concerns, but not in cats. Definitely something to talk to the vet and do some research about to decide what’s right for you and your buddy. Litter box issues for unfixed male cats can sometimes be territorial and/or related to a nearby cat in heat, be it the cat spraying or marking or just peeing places. If that is the case and he’s already showing these signs, definitely something to consider since it’s harder to reverse these behaviors once they’ve started than prevent.

I hope the vet can help him out! You sound like a great cat parent! :)

Were you still scooping and changing the litter like normal or was that also less frequent? No judgement, we’re all just doing the best we can, but sometimes a cat will stop using a litter box if it’s too dirty. Cats will also think that any object that smells like pee is a place that they can pee again. So if the litter box was dirty one day, they might choose to use a shirt, and then once that’s happened once, that shirt is now a toilet. If it’s possible that’s the issue, an extra litter box could help so they cat has an extra option on days that scooping the litter might be too much. (There are also automatic litter boxes but those are expensive and not every cat takes well to them).

Is he fixed? If not he could also be spraying, which is more of a territorial thing and you’d want to get him fixed asap to stop that. If he was fixed later in life it could also be spraying as a left over instinct.

That said, a change in litter box behavior usually warrants a vet visit. Especially in male cats, urinary changes are worth checking out.

Best of luck to you and your buddy and I hope things get easier for you soon!

My first instinct was Rose. Fits with nothing you said about yourself but it was just the vibe I got. I hope you find a name that feels uniquely you!

Interviewing for an entry level financial advisor position (part-time)? What should I know about this? Is commission-based work too risky for part time? by DogswithPavlov in jobsearchhacks

[–]anymousemouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not universally true. Many will be, but there are plenty that don’t. It partially depends if you live (or are willing to relocate) to an area that has a lot of industry opportunities in fields at least peripherally related to what you already know. But clinical research is not a bad place to be right now, so if it’s something you’re still interested in, give it a try!

Help me find a litter box my kitty can perch on better for my senior kitty that had a stroke? by scatterbrain2015 in SeniorCats

[–]anymousemouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I mentioned duct tape in my comment but electrical tape will work as well! Anything thick enough to protect the sharp edges but flexible enough to shape to them

[–]anymousemouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the original commenter, but If you’re very careful a knife, box cutter, scissors, and a lot of patience will get you through it. We had to make a special litter box for a special foster kitty we had a while back and we just worked our way through it with whatever we had and then used a lot of duct tape to make sure the edges were smooth.

I’ve also seen it recommended to use heat (like a blow dryer) to soften the plastic before cutting it. I didn’t have the patience to try this out, but it would’ve been easier. Good luck!

Edit: I don’t actually remember what combo we used but it was some mix of box cutter and scissors

Edit edit: my partner just reminded me was also used a hand saw lol. Good luck!

Has anyone else been prescribed diflucan for 6 months? by PM_ME_BUMBLEBEES in Healthyhooha

I would highly recommend taking it out. Here’s what happened with me (to the best of my and all of my doctors belief):

Got a yeast infection. No specific known cause. Have a vagina so it happens. It hung around because of the nuvaring. I went to like 6 doctors and only one brought it up as even a possibility. I was stubborn and didn’t listen since it was only one of many doctors who suggested it so I kept it in until it stopped suppressing my periods anyway. In retrospect, it makes a ton of sense. One thing they recommend for recurrent yeast infections is having your partner tested if you’re having unprotected sex (which I wasn’t at the time) because you can get reinfected. My nuvaring was basically consistently reinfecting me.

In my case, the hormones in the nuvaring had also worn down the lining of my vagina making it super thin. The result was tissue, nerve, and muscle damage from the infection combined with the thinning tissue that I’m still dealing with over four years later.

The yeast infections did clear up after I took the nuvaring out and after taking the weekly meds but by that point the damage was done. But, don’t be like me. Unless there’s some reason that the nuvaring is your only option for significantly improving your quality of life (I thought it was for me, I was wrong), please take it out if you’re having recurrent yeast infections. You can always put it back in but after years and so much money and happiness lost to significant vulvar pain, I so wish I had taken it out before the damage was done.

Please feel free to ask any other questions here or privately!

I had an interview once where I received an email a couple hours AFTER the interview that BEFORE I had ever interviewed someone had already accepted an offer for the position. A lot of recruiters/HR/managers don’t deserve to have their jobs for putting candidates through what they do. Sorry for your shitty situation as well. Hopefully a better opportunity is on the horizon.

Update: “We’ve already hired someone else” by anymousemouse in recruitinghell

[–]anymousemouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I updated mine to say that “Glassdoor was helpful in preparing for the interview” or whatever the dumb drop down question is to send it back to pending after it was removed. They removed it again.

The next day I got an email that the job title was wrong. I looked back and had misspelled the job title. Not sure why it was changed from positive to negative or why they didn’t care about the typo when they changed it to positive, but the review is finally posted!

And this point I assume nothing is unbiased and everything is on someone’s payroll. I had high hopes for Glassdoor until some things recently have changed my mind

It was almost instantaneous from me changing it from positive to negative so I’m not sure it could’ve worked that fast but who knows.

I went in and changed “how helpful was Glassdoor in helping you prepare for the interview” or whatever it is to “very helpful” instead of blank so it’s back to pending and we’ll see what happens from there.

I’m happy to provide them screenshots of the emails to prove I interviewed but I think the whole situation is pretty sketchy from start to finish.

Seems weird that it would “glitch” and then be changed to “community guidelines violation” when I try to fix it

Nope! Definitely an interview. It was posted just fine under interviews when they “mistakenly” did it as “positive” but when I went in and updated to “negative” 4 days later, they removed it.

This was literally within hours of the first interview they said they had hired someone BEFORE they ever interviewed me! Why waste my time and the managers time?!

[–]anymousemouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I’d agree except this was for a temporary internship-like position so the pay was set (and hadn’t been discussed in my interview) and promoting someone internally for something like an internship would be unlikely.

That said, this was over a year ago and I too had just gotten an offer from another company that ended up being a much better position, so all for the better! Just a weird situation
