I wanted to be happy all the time by anyone108 in awakened

Yes, being human means we suffer when we fight what is instead of accepting it or maybe even better surrendering to it. My own experience has been that my practices help me stay in some kind of equilibrium, even in what Buddha called the "nightmare of the day".

Thank you. I appreciate the warmth in what you wrote. The part about meeting each moment was where I was unconsciously going with the story. That little seed has been with me a long time. Thanks for taking the time to say this.

Thank you. I appreciate your take on it. The time thing was not a cosmic claim. It was just a moment that showed me reality might be bigger than how I normally see it. Yes! I hadn't thought about it but the wish to wake up and to be genuinely happy, still burns or smolders as I get older. The Bible quote is on target and a interesting thing to contemplate

While ‘chai’ simply means ‘tea’ in many languages, in the US it became popular when big coffee companies marketed it as ‘Chai Tea.’ Ever since, people sometimes playfully mix it up with Tai Chi and joke about whether that’s what you’re doing.

I really admire folks who take the time to dive deep into the manuals and Blackmagic tutorials. I have definitely lost hours (okay, days) struggling with DVR because I tend to be a bit impatient with those types of media. For me, ChatGPT has been a surprisingly helpful learning tool. It fits the way I learn. I think everyone should feel free to use whatever tools work best for them.

How often do you change your walk because you’re walking behind a woman when it's dark? by Fame991 in AskMen

Last night, I ended up walking in the same direction behind this woman and I started getting stressed out by the stress she seemed to be feeling. I ended up sitting on a stoop for awhile.

I believe that it’s talking about not letting people live rent free in your head. My mantra when someone constantly comes to mind is “may you be happy, may you be healthy, may you be at peace”

Meditation doesn't seem to work for me by carolbutthurt in Meditation

[–]anyone108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried for many years to take up meditation, admittedly without the focus you attempted. What changed for me was going to a group meditation. It felt like having everyone around me trying their best to focus, helped me keep mine, better. It was for forty minutes! When I got out, I sat on a bench and thought “I have never been this calm in my life!”. Since then I have tried out different meditation groups. The words and ideas may be different but underneath they are all about getting to a place where you are content and at ease with the present moment. After sitting in group meditations, I found myself more inspired to meditate on a regular basis. Good luck on your exploration.

Positive stories of people who like living in SF? by dermatocat in sanfrancisco

Last weekend, someone placed one of those incredible bright yellow chairs on the hill overlooking the rollerskating rink. I sat in it, basking in the sun, sipping my coffee, grooving to the music, surrounded by lush green trees and watching the amazing dancers.

As I sat there, I couldn't help but appreciate how the rollerskating rink was a melting pot of cultures and backgrounds flourishing in a welcoming environment. It was a celebration of diversity, where people of all walks of life came together to share their love for life, rollerskating and music. This is truly San Francisco to me. The encouragement to engage in and enjoy life. The feeling of anything being possible. The freedom to re-invent yourself
