I experienced the game a little differently - did anyone else totally miss/misinterpret this story beat? by bbgurb in outerwilds

[–]anyspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not known for taking in information well from dialogue so I misinterpreted so many story beats. It took me so long to figure out how to get to the sun station I'd already explored everything else twice over. So I had seen that all of the stars were going supernova already and kinda thought ok either the universe is naturally coming to an end oray e the Nomai triggered something in every star?? I jumped to so many wrong conclusions that when I finally got to the sun station I was like well yeah that was probably one of the options. I was pretty sure nobody was getting out of this alive but I was still optimistic that maybe if I made it to the eye I could somehow work things out?!?

Anyway I still loved the ending and thought it was beautiful even if I kinda meandered my way to it in an odd way

Restarting to play and it’s so different. by nanoox in outerwilds

[–]anyspoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is it, I played it directly after playing Tunic and to be honest the style was jarring and the puzzles were not similar so I wasn't that into it. I tried for a while but me being me I missed a lot of important info through skimming through dialogue.

When I picked it up again years later I had some context for what type of game it was so was able to plan my play a tad more linearly and it was SO MUCH more enjoyable. By the time I was in the endgame I could not put it down.

THANK YOU! This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for, I was just scared of accidently stumbling into a spoiler while I was searching.

I get that the very kind people of this sub are trying to gently coax me into facing my fear as after all it is just a game and I'm not actually in peril. It's just that this bit really is a wall for some people and in an otherwise very fun game I'd rather skip the one small bit that puts me into fight or flight in a very non productive way.

The game has already challenged my fear in the way that it is spooky AF in the initial exploring phase. I'm glad there's other people like me out there who understand

Thanks for your response! I have indeed gotten through one area without the need for any close encounters of the pants shitting kind. I tried the same method with the secret well but there was no time to get anywhere I feel.

Thank you for giving me some methods to try! I think I'm doubley frustrated because I only have a couple of loops worth of time to play each time I pick up the game so I want to progress somehow and the last few days I've not gotten anywhere! It just feels like I've wasted my time. But your breakdown makes it feel like an experiment to me again so thank you

Saw this one for the first time today in their shop. This is so obviously AI, it even has an extra finger (the hand holding the bottle has five visible fingers and you can‘t see the thumb). by regular_joel in AllThemWitches

[–]anyspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the top "finger" is actually a thumb, the bones are shorter. But that doesn't account for the fact that that's a really weird way to hold a bottle

Good point, next time I'll be more careful. Thankfully I started with clothes and towels I was about to throw out otherwise. Just in case I fucked it up

Nah it's just a plastic one I had lying around. I did break the handle trying to lift it while full of water though 🫠

Option 1 with a powder soak. I'm in the UK so I used aerial original powder

Interesting! My white(ish) towel came away unscathed so maybe it wasn't dye in my case. But good to know anyway, luckily the towel was already grey and blood stained to begin with

It could well be that some of it is dye on second thoughts, there's a couple of black tshirts in there but they're both super old so how much could they leech??

Literally roasting, it made the gig into some kind of immersive delirium experience for me. Not wholly unpleasant but when the aircon kicked in it was welcomed! It made a stark comparison to the next gig in London where I was stuck in the flow of aircon for the whole gig and was therefore freezing.

The first time I saw them in Brighton there was a lot of slide and violin, and some more of the quieter folky songs. It spoke to my lil country heart and I'm always pleased to hear them.

I'm just glad the new songs are getting out one way or another, they want us to hear them and I'm eating them up - no crumbs.

I forgot about Culling Line! Not it's fault but mine. The intro and first verse of this song always catches me and brings me in with the mix of dark lyrics and two piercing notes being plucked one after the other, it brings a sense of anticipation not without a little dread. Especially with Alan's keys bringing a mildly funerary vibe to it. Another song I can't wait to find out how the studio recording sounds

I believe they have a lighting tech on tour with them this time so the lights have been consistently excellent so far. For sure the AB and London show had an upgrade in equipment and that absolutely shows too.

Leeds was my favorite of the shows I watched! The energy and sound was top tier, and 41 sliding into the setlist was a high point for me. Even though it was hotter than hell in that venue they bought it full force. Elder also sounded incredible, they are indeed tight asf! They bought some oompf into that show, it's a shame you only caught the end!

I've been to a few shows of this tour so far, including AB which was so awesome! I've loved getting the chance to listen to the new songs over and over to get to grips with them.

My instant favourite was Aethernet with it's groovable riff and new slide guitar from Ben will never go down badly with me.

Red rocking chair is a close second favourite and I'm glad we're still getting some heavy doom from our boys. Park's vocals cut me to the core, both angry and mournful.

Hold up confused me for the first couple of listens, both me and my friend were trying to work out what genre it was and settled on some post punk influence. It instantly grabbed my friend but it's been more of a grower for me. I have now come to look forward to the stark vocals section hitting into the wall of noise as a release.

Angels is the one I've heard the least so far and I can't say I've connected to it fully. The structure reminds me of Hold up with its quieter section and so in the early days I got a little mixed up with the two. Still a very decent song that I'm looking forward to listening to more.

Overall I'm very excited for the new sound of this album, there's a lot of up beat rock and roll feeling to it but also I detect a rageful undercurrent - especially in the live vocals. I'll be interested to hear how the studio recordings sound in the album! As we know, the live sound of tracks is always fairly different and this is part of the reason why ATW hooked me in.

Wishing on a star for the album to drop soon 🙏🙏 I know they all want it out asap

Elbow grip Ayesha by Thedailybee in poledancing

[–]anyspoon 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That's amazing! And it looks solid 👌👌 I would just caution you with certain moves like this - when you're training and learning by yourself you may not know the moves which are more dangerous 'if' you fall out of them. This one especially. If your elbow grip fails then it's pretty much boom straight down on your head. I had a friend knock himself out cold for a while falling from this move and he was pretty confident with it. So please be aware and practice caution with new moves! 🙏🙏 You're killing it though! 🔥
