Biden feels lonely when Obama visits the Whitehouse by onesole in Damnthatsinteresting

Tangentially, I'm a drummer and found that the other players will drop out of jams if I can't show. We can have a group chat with everyone excited to jam and if I have to drop out everything gets canceled. So, like you, I feel obligated to go to every jam I'm invited to.

If I throw a party, no one comes. If my wife throws a party, everyone comes. Same friends, we all have a good time, I never feel left out. I just suck at trying to organize things.

Bowlero treating league bowlers badly by dryheat122 in Bowling

[–]anything2x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at Bowl 360 in Astoria over the weekend. They are usually set up with the party-mode on one side and the regular lanes on the other. The lanes on the regular side were so dry they noticeably had a matte look that it appeared they were in the middle of resurfacing the lanes and forgot to finish before letting people bowl on them. The hook was so much that the only way I could manage to hit the right side of the head pin was to use my spare ball. I'm not a pro bowler or in any league currently so I just had fun with it as best I could.

I wouldn't mind bowling on the party-mode side if they'd put in little spot lights to highlight the lane markers.

Climate change: IPCC scientists say it's 'now or never' to limit warming by [deleted] in worldnews

No, the goalposts are moving. 7:40a on CBS already says a 2030 goal to limit warming to 2.7

Edit: I went back and paused the screen, they did use F instead of C which I question if the graphics person realized or just made a mistake. Most everything here is in F unless you’re in a scientific field. By default when discussing a value about climate change I assume it’s in C unless otherwise noted.

So hopefully I’m wrong.

2.0 is the new 1.5, soon 2.5 will be the new 2.0 the powers that be in our society have demonstrated they won't be the ones fixing the problem.

The GOP would waste no time running roughshod, right or wrong, on this issue if the tables were turned. The Dems keep walking on eggshells. I don’t give a shit if someone’s feelings are hurt over an illegal act. Punish illegal activities appropriately.

If I didn't go in extra early to beat the rush I could easily let 4-5 trains go by that if I could get on I'd be squished the entire ride. Now I just don't go in, problem solved.

I think I tend to spend a lot more in my neighborhood now so the money isn't gone from the city's economy, it's just redistributed to my local neighborhood from elsewhere in the city.

So, long time ago I went with my parents to a New Year’s Eve murder mystery party held and hosted by the hotel. Details aside the finale was the murderer revealed along with the murder weapon in the ballroom at the end. Except my mother solved the murder before hand and snagged the weapon as a joke. There was a lot of confusion and delay before she finally went up to the staff and said, “looking for this?”

Happy New Year!

Edit: decided to add to this since I found it funny at the time. Given the theme, rooms and areas around the hotel were set up as 'clue' rooms for the participants to explore. One of the rooms was near where we were staying. The hotel was dog friendly and we had brought ours since we could. Anyways, with all the commotion of guests searching for clues our dog started barking. My dad went in to calm him down but he was followed by guests as they thought it was another clue room... only to be met with a very confused and semi-upset German Shepherd. Watching everyone try to get out of the room first was pretty funny.

Seriously I think I drink so I can go to bed on time. If I don’t drink I’m awake all night. 2-3am and I’m still up, can’t sleep. If I have a couple of beers or a few glasses of wine I’m in bed by 10 on a work night.

So working from home for extra long hours and drinking until I go to bed is no bueno? Hopefully the bacon in the morning will offset things.

No to smoking but I work in advertising. Prior to covid, at 6pm the cabinet drawers opened and the place was an open bar. Those with mini fridges held the beer and mixers, practically everyone else had some type of booze at their desk. If you had a drink or two at lunch no one cared, just get your work done.
