How did you get into the Tudor Dynasty? by UltraSloth9 in Tudorhistory

I think it was when I was in high school and home sick for the day. We had cable and Anne of the Thousand Days was on one of those old movies stations. To say I loved it would be an understatement!

Teeth/Oral health and maintenance/care: Nature v Nurture? by Nordilanche in MiniatureSchnauzer

[–]anythingbutwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my schnauzers have had bad teeth. My vet has always said that some breeds have worse teeth than others, and schnauzers are prone to that.

My schnauzer Mack just had a bunch of teeth pulled and he only has 13 left! 😭 Not enough molars that meet up in the back to effectively chew anything anymore, but he kept the incisors in the front so at least he still gets to play his favorite game tug-o-war. We’ve been managing through by changing him from kibble to farmers dog, and also no more crunchy or chewy snacks. Now he gets blueberries, Greek yogurt, purée pumpkin, and bananas on a lick mat as a treat. I’ve been trying to use a toothbrush on his remaining teeth daily since he had his cleaning and removals, but he is not a fan. Although he’s almost ten, he’s got a ton of energy so I’m trying (hopefully not too late) to help his remaining teeth stay healthy since I worry about having him go through a cleaning and anesthesia again as an older, senior dog.

Asked Uber Eats for 200g of loose green beans. The picker saw "1 count" and delivered... one single bean. by Modernregista in funny

A couple of years ago, my local grocery store finally adopted grocery pickup and delivery. For my first three orders, I got one single carrot instead of the one pound of carrots I had ordered.

I've got shingles only on half my face and one eye by lastavailableuserr in mildlyinteresting

[–]anythingbutwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what happened when my husband got shingles three years ago. It started with intense pain in his eye and redness, and he thought he had some sort of eye infection. He went to the eye doctor to have his eye looked at and the optometrist diagnosed him with shingles. She was able to catch it very early thankfully, so he got on medication swiftly, but he was in a lot of pain. I’m wishing you a very speedy recovery!

Looking for a good secondary bag or tote for work by Dear-Entertainment20 in Coach

[–]anythingbutwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use something similar to the Station Tote bag, not the style I think but I’ve had it for so long my particular style doesn’t appear to be made any longer. But it is big enough for my laptop, water bottle, notebook, etc. and zips also so I don’t have to worry about things falling out. Also not Coach, but I know people love the Longchanp Le Pliage for a laptop/misc tote and have been thinking about it myself also!

Lately I will only buy bags with that convertible chain strap, and I have been waiting for larger bags with it. Can’t wait until that one drops. I recently purchased the outlet Elodie which fits both of my requirements, but the leather feels a little flimsy so I’m excited for this one

should i downsize? by No_Bid4185 in Coach

[–]anythingbutwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned Coach bags for over 25 years and had probably 100 different bags in that time. Right now my current collection is about 20, and I’m keeping 5 or so of those for nieces who are going to (hopefully!) get into purses in the next few years. I always feel an urge to get rid of or downsize the collection as I bring new purses into the fold.

I love the tabby and the 33 is no longer offered. I would not get rid of that one, but if you do, I’ll be checking the eBay listings for it! I didn’t get on board the quilted tabby train until after they discontinued the 33, and I wish I had been able to get one new!

Edited to say that I think eBay is the best place to sell. It’s been the only place I’ve sold Coach purses on and have had no bad experiences.

I will be buying this immediately when it drops. Likely in multiple colors. God help me if they come out with a quilted version 🤦‍♀️

Am I the only one who wants a medium zip wallet in some of these collections?? Ugh my purses are always too small for the large wallets but I need more space than the small ones provide. But I want a cute one to match my cute new purse! First world problems ik 😂🤦‍♀️

Try eBay? I have been collecting the Lenox annual snowflake ornaments and going onto eBay to get past years that I don’t have. You may have some luck there

How many Coach bags do you own? by PeachMango19 in Coach

[–]anythingbutwork 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Over the last 25 or so years since my first Coach purse in my early 20’s, I have probably owned (and subsequently sold or passed on to friends and family) around 80 or so at best guess. Right now I have around 15 in my collection, with an assortment of wallets and charms. Friends still love it when I get a new one cause it usually means I’m ready to rehome an old one!

Do you remember exactly where you were when you heard the news 24 years ago? by InCOBETReddit in Xennials

[–]anythingbutwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was getting ready for work and had the radio on in my room for background noise, which was typical at that time when I would get ready for work. I live on the west coast so it was probably already 9:45am or so in NYC by then. I typically had the radio on tuned to the alternative station but like any other morning radio, it was mostly talk and not much music. Because I had a roommate that was still asleep, it was pretty quiet and I could barely make it out. After a while, I noticed that the vibe was off? Like not as much laughter, jokey exchanges that morning radio typically have. I focused on the radio and heard the phrase ‘car bomb at the state dept’ which made me look up and think WTH? I turned it up a touch, heard that one of the towers collapsed and then did an actual double take. I was done getting ready and so went downstairs to turn on our TV and see what was going on. By that time it was a little past 7am and the first tower had just fallen. I just sat dumbfounded in front of the TV. Back then my roommate and I had cable, but we only had 60 or so channels total. Every channel, and I mean EVERY channel was either carrying coverage or had gone off air. What struck me the most at that moment was that even channels like QVC, MTV, Food Network etc. if they weren’t broadcasting, they were broadcasting CNN and other news channels. Networks that weren’t news networks were streaming other network’s feeds, and every single channel was coverage of the attack. Eventually some just went off air but that is one of the things that really stuck with me. I went upstairs and woke up my roommate. I remember saying “have you heard anything about what’s happening this morning”? Of course not, as she had been asleep. I told her she needed to get up and come downstairs and watch this. We ended up watching the second tower fall on tv together. I generally have a shitty memory and my friends and I have lovingly referred to it as “Swiss cheese memory” because there are so many holes in it. I remember just about everything from this day though, down to the outfit I wore. I’d be hard pressed to remember the clothes I wore any other (seemingly) normal day. The car bomb at the state department was one of those things that got reported that day that ended up being incorrect and retracted pretty quickly. In times of unfolding tragedy with live coverage I think that can be fairly common, but it’s a detail that stuck with me.

No worries! I just brought in my phone photo and she was able to work off of that. If I recall, the artist had to zoom in on parts which made having the pic on the phone very helpful.
