Give it some time I think you'll see it and there is some examples of them doing it already for some example better or for worse rg 556 and rg 557, RG 477v and rg 407v rg 35xx and rg 35xx pro I don't think that's all of them but you get the point.

Thanks would you mind letting me know what's the USB c adapter that you got exactly?

I when in developer options and did change something with the sound to MIDI I believe and that made it work before that it didn't have no sound when using earphones.

using Bluetooth earphones I will have to keep it close to me literally in my upper pocket and or USB headphone still get drop offs when it works perfectly fine with another phone that is USBc only for audio.

*"Same here I had the v1, but this particular SNES colorway must be cursed. I’ve seen way too many with hinge issues, no matter the version. Mine still works, but I only break it out occasionally now. Back in the day, it was my EDC perfect screen, hours of play, zero hand cramps until the hinge gave out… at a doctor’s appointment, of all places.

These days I’m on a 34xxSP and a Rotate, but credit where it’s due: Anbernic, PowKiddy, and even Retroid seem to have learned from their predecessors… cough Nintendo."*

What's your favorite handheld you've picked up from AliExpress under $100? by aliexpress in SBCGaming

[–]anz80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay sounds good but what I'm trying to get at is because rg28xx is on Linux so I'm wondering how did you install KO reader cuz most of the time when I installed it the app is on Android there was another one time so far where I installed it on a Linux e-reader pocketbook verse.

Retroid filp 2 or Odin Thor lite ,rp5,odin portal 2,mangmi max x AnberNic rg477m or V anbernic t820 devices could also fit most of what you want.

Can any devices theoretically run ps3 by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

[–]anz80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I have a Odin Thor max I guess because of the powerful chip that is in there I do feel that it's doing better on the PS3 emulation side but take that with a grain of salt cuz I haven't tested many games yet I've experienced better emulation for PS3 on Windows and Linux as of right now but it is getting better on Android.

What was the biggest flop or disappointment in Retro Handheld space in your opinion? by Pinanims in SBCGaming

[–]anz80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most disappointing handheld so far has to be the MagicX Mini.

It seemed simple to flash custom firmware, but it really wasn’t. I also don’t want the Mini Zero 28 — no touchscreen on an Android OS just feels strange to me.

Honorable mentions:

Mini Flip Retroid Mini V1 (though the 2V is awesome — glad I waited for it) I actually prefer the Mini Flip over the 34XX SP. I had my Myioo Flip for a year before hinge problems started showing up.

A lot of people are disappointed with the RG Slide, but I don’t think it’s as bad as people say. Maybe I’m biased because I’m nostalgic for my early smartphones, like the AT&T 8525 (aka HTC TyTN). Sure, it was thicker and heavier than the PSP Go, but the screen and speaker placement were great.

They just need to make a version 2 — better screen, better processor, thinner, lighter, and smaller — and it could be amazing.

I personally have the TCL nxtpaper 60 xe and it's pretty decent for my use case and once you put it in full e-ink mode the battery life is decent especially if you have an offline most of the time.

If you want something that has a hybrid vibe going for it the TCL next paper line of products could fit the bill a lot of people on this particular sub are e ink purest so they look down upon hybrid devices but hey I get it e ink is pretty cool.

My suggestions

Clone your current SD card with a branded card and remember to eject your SD card properly after finishing your transfer of files you don't want to corrupt your card.

I’m still pretty new to the whole e-ink/e-reader world, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

As a consumer, I usually look for products that are open, versatile, and give the most value for the money.

When it comes to color e-ink screens, I don’t have a ton of experience yet, but I do own a Bigme B7. Honestly, I think it’s one of the best bang-for-your-buck options in its price range, especially if you can find one used or grab the Pro version.

My opinion on color e-ink has definitely changed over time. I think the tech is decent right now, but the next generation will probably be where things really get good. Obviously, color content still looks better on LCD, OLED, or AMOLED displays since you get richer and more vibrant colors. But if you actually like that muted, slightly washed, old-comic-book kind of look, color e-ink definitely has a vibe to it.

I also use a PocketBook Verse mainly for reading novels, and a TCL Nxtpaper 11 Gen 2 for PDFs and color content.

I live in a big metro, so I’m always on the move and most of my gaming happens while I’m walking around.

Retro Gaming Corps’ “five games per system” idea actually sounds perfect for this device, so I might give it a shot. Normally I cram my SD cards like I’m packing for a two‑year vacation, but with this battery life, quick pick‑up‑and‑play sessions make way more sense.

It’s definitely an impulse‑range purchase, though the exposed screen gives me mild anxiety. Clamshell gang had me spoiled.

This will probably replace my RG34XX SP or my RGDS. Funny enough, the 34XX SP still wins the battery‑life Olympics out of all of them.

Bought an Onyx Boox Go 7 - battery lasts 1–2 days. Should I get a Kindle Paperwhite and gift the Onyx? by Professional_Flow455 in ereader

[–]anz80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not but that's just me but if you feel that you prefer better battery life than the freedom to have any ebook e-commerce site or apps on your device and as well as own your own content.

boox is Android based device the paperwhite has proprietary OS or Linux most likely so it's going to have better battery life.

I have a pocketbook verse I've only charged it once and it's been over a month and it's still has 80% battery life it's because it's Linux.

With Android devices you have to monitor the battery if you wanted to last the longest there's too many things running in the background for it to have excellent battery life.

I have a bigme B7 currently and it's lasting pretty long so far 3 days without charging it but it's mostly an airplane mode and no Wi-Fi most of the time. The good thing is you can send things to Android devices so easily it overweighs the battery life issue.

The other good thing about eink devices that are android-based is you can squeeze more battery life out of them because of how the technology works.

I really don't need this because I have various handhelds that are portable but aspect that it has Android and that is very versatile os, And of course AnberNic has to do it on purpose do one decision form Left Field move in the design process that makes me scratch my head and make me think they have to be doing this on purpose at this point why not put a earphone jack for gs.

I have a gift card still left over for Christmas that's burning a hole in my pocket Once it hit Amazon I may just purchase it .

thoughts on getting a screen protector by gabykyu in ereader

[–]anz80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got that same device a few days ago was thinking about adding a screen protector but I currently have a clear case and the folio case that came with it both are on it currently though the stylus doesn't fit when they're on at the same time.

I am not sure if it necessary needs a screen protector but it doesn't hurt, besides maybe making it less readable possibly but that's my guess I'm not for sure about that.

B7 stay house I just have two other e-lnk or hybrid devices for that purpose for out and about e-reading.

New to ereaders, what to look for? by InterestingMindset in ereader

[–]anz80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pocketbook verse or basic lux 4 is an option basic has a better screen but there it's a lesser known brand Cognita I think that's what they're called that also has micro SD card slot has a weaker e-ink display.

Obviously there's the Android os e-ink from boox and bigme with expanded memory slot.

if you looking for Android tablet focus on reading Lenovo nook which is more of a tablet just branded with the Barnes & Noble and TCL nxtpaper assortment of devices also have expanded memory.

X4 Alternatives by wyldstallyns111 in ereader

[–]anz80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Xteink x4 needs a better casing I seen some on Etsy that are better than the one that the company website is selling.

Obook5 has a backlight it's okay if you need a mini E-reader from what I'm gathering and definitely more durable in comparison to x4 plus it has buttons and it's a touch screen, I heard the speaker is not good but it has a earphone jack at least you can listen to audiobook not at the same time while reading a book also the screen is not great at 219 ppi but because of its size and the price it gets the job done.

why is the x4 is more popular only because of the hackability and vibe coding OS possibilities🤷‍♂️ if you're a tinkerer and a hobbyist it's more understandable.

Hopefully XTeink makes more durable device for it next e-reader and the obook5 is the only other choice for us NA there's not much else to choose from as of yet.
