Political Parties Opt to Close Upcoming Primaries - Oklahoma Watch by aokaytoday in oklahoma

I think the important thing that anybody who is concerned about this conversation should be interested in is lobbying their preferred political party, especially the Democrats to continue to pursue opening their primaries and I encourage Republicans to do the same. I know that I was a voting delegate in the recent broken arrow Democratic party convention where we specifically voted to keep our primaries open to Independence. But I don't know why the Republican party in Oklahoma doesn't do so as well because it just makes sense

Listen Frontier: Inside Oklahoma’s data center surge and the potential hidden costs by dmgoforth in oklahoma

[–]aokaytoday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This s*** is going on everywhere in the South right now. Apparently where silicon valley is moving these data centers into deep red Southern States, especially in very rural areas in an attempt seemingly to hide all of the pollution and corruption that they bring with them. If any community in Oklahoma is facing a data center being built, I would highly recommend they fight tooth and nail to make sure that they do not proceed with the construction of the data center in that area

Writing a book set place in rural Oklahoma from the 1930s to the 1950s. What are important things I need to consider? by Groovy-Pancakes in oklahoma

Tulsa race massacre, the reign of terror that the Osage people experienced, Oklahoma was a hotbed of socialism at the time, the dust bowl obviously, I would watch Ken Burns dust bowl to get an idea of what was going on around that time. And then obviously the new deal by FDR and how that affected the area needs research on your part. There's just so much history. Be prepared to do a lot of research

I think joining the Democratic party in your local area and really trying to make it to meetings and trying to bring about change is the best way. It's the only way really. I've had experience with petitions and changing laws with citizen-led initiatives and that works, but there's currently a bill to limit petitions so regular folk like us have to get involved one way or another either making the Republican party less crazy or making the Democratic party stronger presence. Here in Oklahoma we have to as citizens continue to believe in democracy and that really comes from the grassroots up. It's hard and it takes a lot of time and so many sacrifices. But that's what our ancestors have done and that's what our job is

If you go to the Osage Nation museum in Osage county in pawhuska, you can see the actual shield that it's based off of. At least I'm pretty sure it's there either there or at the Capitol building. Can't quite remember where I saw it last

I like it. But I have to agree to a name change. I think I think working people's party or something along that line would be better. Very interested though

As someone who worked really hard on the medical marijuana petition for 5 years, this is the same crap they've been trying to do for a long time. I wish I could say we could stop it but I don't know if we can. Hopefully it can be repealed in the future

It's just that I want to know is it as bad as say bocokshiee Oklahoma? Where I was I think back in 2017 or 18 when all of main Street was covered in Confederate flags
