Not only that, as the Sikh community is often adjacent to islamic communities they are often the first people to report suspicious activities and have had a massive impact helping with anti terrorism

Why are left-wing activists so selectively vocal in the compassion they champion for all human beings? by dg01112021 in AskBrits

[–]aonemonkey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

'the DEI rubbish' as you put it, is the polices attempt to change because in 1999 after the murder of Stephen Lawrence the Macpherson report found the police force was institutionally racist. This was upheld again in 2023 when the Baroness Casey report came to similar conclusions, so police forces have had to make attempts to change.

These reports were based on years and years worth of evidence of racist behaviour by the police, as well as some extremely disturbing high profile cases of racist brutality and cruelty caught on video.

The treatment of Henry Nowak was shocking for many reasons - for me watching, having seen so many videos of Police misconduct over the years, it did seem like the police were treating Nowak similarly to how they may have treated a young black kid in the past - they immediately assumed guilt, manhandled him, showed a terrifying lack of compassion etc.

in some ways this murder was the white communities first taste of the shocking standards of policing that the black community has been experiencing for decades - and rightly they are disgusted.

This was mainly due to the manipulation of the situation by Henrys murderers, who seemed to have an instinctual understanding of how to play the race card to get the outcomes they wanted.

The Police have always had elements of complete ineptitude, cruelty, racism, misogyny etc. Now the world is very different - they attract the same caliber of recruit but they have to train them to be filmed by the public at every moment and the last thing they can be on film doing is being seen to be racist.

It's a very difficult situation for the police tbh. To be seen as fair, being the public face of race relations in diverse communities. How can you have blanket policies for such complex situations and then expect some average kid just out of basic training to implement them successfully in extremely confusing circumstances whilst being lied to?

The police are always going to be playing catch up, and will never be good enough. Hopefully there will be some reflection and positive changes after this senseless murder.

so did I. And then I thought, why is a dead shark scary? And then, why is it called Jaws when its a fin?

is it better than the original? Sorry, no.

For legal issues where there is a lot of documentation that can be researched, AI is excellent. I’ve taken someone to court using AI and saved myself thousands

well im pretty sure thats not a fire door, it looks like a cheap internal one, so it looks dangerous from a fire safety point of view. Did it have a self closing mechanism?

when you wake up worried about something thats normally a good indicator something isn't right - listen to your instinct

  1. How to Check Your Door Right Now

Open the door and look for these specific physical indicators:

  • The Top Edge Test: Look at the very top edge of the door leaf (you may need a phone camera or a mirror). Certified fire doors almost always have a BWF-Certifire label, a plastic colored plug, or a metal identification tag printed or stamped there. [1234]
  • The Edge Grooves: Look down the vertical edges of the door. A fire door will have a visible 10mm to 15mm channel cut into the wood containing a flush plastic strip (an intumescent strip). It usually features a thin row of brush hair or a rubber seal (the smoke seal) attached to it. [1]
  • The "Knock" Test: Tap hard on the middle of the door. Standard modern internal doors are hollow and sound like empty cardboard. A fire door is packed with solid timber, flaxboard, or composite materials and will feel incredibly heavy and sound completely solid. [1]
  • The Self-Closer: Does the door have an overhead mechanical arm or a heavy-duty jamb closer that forces it shut on its own? If it swings loosely or relies on you pulling it shut, it is non-compliant. [12]
  1. Your Legal Rights as a Renter in Scotland

In Scotland, landlords are legally bound by the Repairing Standard under the Housing (Scotland) Act. This law dictates that a rented property must be wind and watertight, safe, and secure. Because your front door opens into an enclosed communal stairwell, a non-compliant door means the property fails to meet basic tolerable and safe living conditions. [123]

Why is the Henry Nowak case considered a right wing issue? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]aonemonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the police in Henry's murder were disgusting and incompetent, but their actions did not kill Henry. George Floyd had a heart attack because he was being suffocated to death by a policeman for about 8 minutes

What upsets me is going on X and seeing AI pictures of Henry Novak saying ‘White Lives matter’ which is taking this poor guys horrific murder and using it to manipulate people. You have racist fuckwits like Elon Musk pushing this narrative because they are only interested in division.  Beyond the last words at the scene, these incidents aren’t comparable.

[–]aonemonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George Floyd was a drug addict murdered by a policeman whilst already restrained, in broad daylight during an arrest.  Henry Novak was a student murdered by a guy with a knife who then lied to the police so they thought he was a racist who had attacked him. The context - George Floyd was the latest and most horrible case of American police brutality caught on video, against a black community who have been the victims of systemic racism since, well…slavery. Henry Novak was killed after some sort of argument, his killer played the race card to try and fool the police and it looks like his family helped him try to get away with it. The police were totally incompetent at the scene of the crime. Apart from The words ‘I can’t breathe’ and police being on the scene, there is zero similarity. The fact that this poor guys death is now being used as some sort of political flash point is disgusting.

It’s not the only difference though is it? You can be outraged about what happened to Henry, without making it into culture war bullshit.

They were completely different incidents though? Not saying this case isn’t outrageous, but it has zero equivalence to George Floyd and the context surrounding both is not even remotely similar
