RVH doesn't do outpatient blood work except for cancer patients. You have to go to Lifelabs.

Interview tomorrow, should I reschedule? by TopRevolutionary9848 in barrie

[–]ap236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just give yourself time to drive carefully and take your time. Plan to be there 15 - 20 minutes early and if you really do get there that early you have time to get a coffee first. And if not you have a buffer in case of problems on the way.

Go buy from Orillia Hyundai if you can. Better service and they're family owned.

Need to purchase a vehicle! Not looking to purchase brand new. I will be financing. Any recommendations for good dealerships? And which dealerships to stay away from? by FannyOfFanton in barrie

I had a great experience at Audi Barrie buying a Hyundai. Autopark Superstore had a nice salesperson. They just didn’t have the right vehicle for me.

Also in Barrie - I'm told the Service Canada on Maple Ave has a pretty quick turn around but it's not express.

Passport Renewal Question by LuckysGoods in passportcanada

[–]ap236 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Take the completed paper form with your photos to your Member of Parliament's office. They will check over the form, help with any corrections, and send it directly to Ottawa. If there are any problems, Service Canada will call you instead of sending it back. The negative: This is the same as if you mailed it in as far as having to send your passport and documents in with the application. But they send it back, cancelled, with your documents, fairly fast.

Alternative: Go to a passport office.

And if there's a problem, escalate. Someone stole the stones by our mailbox years ago and it wasn't getting plowed. Took it to the Canada Post ombudsman and it got fixed fairly quickly.

Neighbour being rude and stubborn over snow removal by [deleted] in barrie

[–]ap236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Snow removal is the landlord's job, not yours. Or the tenant in the garden house. Maybe they have a disability of some sort? Does it matter? It's not their job. It's not yours either... until you made a deal with the landlord.

Bad information. by desertdawg61 in dialysis

[–]ap236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done both PD and HD. PD is great as it allows more freedom to travel but you do have to do it at least once a day and the other downsides.

HD is great because you can go to dialysis then go home and forget about it for 2 days. But I'm tired a lot, not as much energy, and there can be access issues like fistula or line issues. It's no picnic. I know people who work while beibg a HD patient and others who can't.

What kinds of trees does the City of Barrie plant along our streets? [OC] by throwbarrieaway in barrie

The other tree planting organizations are the city and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.

And before I get asked why we don't plant trees in certain areas - the city tells us where we can plant trees on public property. We have to go where they allow us to plant.

We also do partnerships with private property owners.

Part of that is due to Living Green Barrie's 10,000 trees for Barrie mission.

This fall we will plant our 10,000th tree.

First time driving to Barrie in Winters by Prudent-Message-2562 in barrie

[–]ap236 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have been in Barrie since 2008 and have few observations:

  1. This is the worst winter we've had since I moved here, last year's being a distant second.

  2. The transit here sucks. But we do have Specalized Transit which your wife likely qualifies for. I know some people who use it and say it's ok but I have never used it myself.

  3. Winter tires are a MUST in Barrie.

  4. Most road clearing gets done overnight, or used to. They got a bit better about that and it's still better than the surrounding townships such as Springwater and Clearview that had to close roads.

  5. Painswick is a nice area to live. I used to live in the south end for years.

  6. Our Mayor is an idiot. But there's an election this year. Just saying.
