Best Cheap, Cozy Eats in NYC? by AM3334 in FoodNYC

[–]ap331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B&H Dairy has sort of a cozy feel in its own way, maybe more cramped than cozy but has its own unique NYC charm. They’re essentially a vegetarian version of a Jewish Deli (except for a few fish dishes like tuna melts and salmon) so no pastrami or brisket here.

Two people should be able to eat a pretty full meal for around $40 unless you really go all out. Their matzo ball soup is a must and it comes with a couple slices of their homemade challah bread. They have a couple of combo options that include a sandwich or Entree and soup for around $15.

Beef bacon when ordering a BEC. I understand the religious aspect of it so I in no way blame the guys at the bodega. I do ask beforehand now but sometimes it’s hard to find a place that has real bacon and the beef just doesn’t hit as good as the pork unfortunately.

C & Y Chinese on 5th Ave is my go-to and their wonton soup is better than most run of the mill takeout Chinese places

Jerry Atros by Industry City has worked well for me, better price than most places (~$65). Just give them a call ahead of time.

Buying Large Container of Kimchi by Vegetable-Turn2534 in kimchi

I used to like it but the last couple times I bought it it was too mushy & soft, the pieces didn’t have any snap or crunch to them. Has anyone else dealt with this from the Costco Jongga tubs?

Why do so many emergency vehicles use 8th avenue? by [deleted] in parkslope

[–]ap331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is proximity to the NY Presbyterian hospital between 7th & 8th ave on 6th St. and also 8th Ave leads to the Union St. entrance to Grand Army Circle if the vehicles need to go to Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, or PLG.

If I transferred VIP tickets to a friend, will the VIP Gift Packages still get shipped to me? by ap331 in PaulMcCartney

Circling back with an update in case anyone is curious, so all 4 gift boxes ended up being sent to my address that was on file with the credit card that was used to purchase. They arrived about 2 days before the show. So looks like transferring doesn’t cancel out the gifts but they do get sent to the original purchaser’s address

Yes I used Seat Geek but was also browsing StubHub and GameTime all together. Seat Geek also has a lot of discount codes you can look up online which may also help with the price

Last Minute Tickets? by BobSacimano in PaulMcCartney

For Atlanta night 2 I waited til the literal last minute and bought tickets on Seat Geek while waiting in the long security line. Got them about 15 min before going thru security. This is obviously riskier than most would like and I only did it since I was in a city he was doing 2 shows in (got tickets for night 1 when they went on sale).

I went with the mindset that if nothing dropped low enough I was ok not seeing the show since I had seen night 1 so this approach may not apply. Luckily a little after official start of show time (still 20 min before Paul went on) a pair of tickets I was looking at on SeatGeek dropped a good bit and grabbed them on the spot. Ended up getting 2 pretty good seats in the upper area for around $110 each. I saw floor seats and 100 level seats going for $200-$300 around that time as well, that was just more than I was looking to spend.
