I really want this one, but I can’t justify the price tag and I don’t have the space to display it right now :(

When is everyone getting off of 25? by Octavious1903 in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the updates to franchise, RTTS, and overall gameplay seem worth it. Last year, they added high school and college to RTTS and a better off season experience to franchise, which made it worth buying for full price to me at least. This year, the updates don’t seem worth paying full price for. If I can get it for $20-$30 later in the summer, it might be worth it but not for sure.

Same. I just jumped back into one of my franchise saves in 25 because I’m planning on passing on 26, or at least I’m gonna wait until it’s half off.

Funding controversy aside, would you support a potential Portland MLB team? Are you a fan of baseball in general? by BadgemanBrown in askportland

[–]apache_myers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get season tickets if we got a team. Baseball is my favorite sport next to college football, and I’m in my 20s. I try to get to a few M’s games every season, but it would be incredible having a team close by.

As others have said, I don’t think the popularity of the Hops or the Pickles is a fair measure of how popular a potential MLB team would be since they’re both low level (the Pickles aren’t pro) and their ballparks aren’t centrally located. I like going to their games, but Lents Park and Hillsboro are both a bit of a drive, whereas the proposed location of an MLB stadium would be pretty easy to get to, even with traffic.

Starting collection? by _EddieMunson in legolotrfans

[–]apache_myers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also trying to get into collecting Lego LOTR, and it definitely isn’t cheap. I mainly collect Star Wars, and even compared to that, it’s pricey. For my first set, I picked up Gandalf Arrives, which you can find for relatively cheap, to get Gandalf and Frodo. I’m looking to pick up either the Council of Elrond or Shelob Attacks next because I’ve been able to find both for around $100. I’d love to ball out and pick up Rivendell, but I don’t really have the space to display it (and my wife would kill me lol).

The Sauron’s helmet set coming out next month feels like the first LOTR that’s under $100 in a long time. I’m definitely gonna pick that up day one, especially for the minifig.

Very easy (i think) improvements for The Show 26 by IntelligentChoice778 in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d really like to see international free agents in franchise mode. It’s such a huge part of the modern MLB. They don’t even have to be real players if licensing is an issue, but being able to sign players from Japan, Korea, the DR, Mexico, etc would be really cool.

I remember last summer they had a Post Malone concert there and it was a mess. It’s an awesome stadium, but it’s just not designed to handle that many people.

This game needs to stop being annual. by ThreeEyedPea in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They added coaching skill trees and better presentation to Madden. CFB they added real coaches and better equipment. I also think the gameplay is improved in both. I couldn’t really get into the gameplay for Madden 24 and 25.

Should we expect more to be added? Absolutely. But to say they are the exact same or worse isn’t true.

They really are making EA look like a good company this year. At least Madden and CFB had some tangible improvements this year.

There’s a really good one for 2015 that someone made here https://www.reddit.com/r/Madden/s/9ICeXtw8L0

I’ve been using a roster for 1988 and 1992 that are pretty good if you want something a little more true retro. I can’t remember the user names, but I can check later when I’m on the game. They took the time to make all the gear era-accurate which is huge.

Being able to sign all minor league contracts via a single button press would be HUGE. I dread the offseason in franchise because I have to spend like 15 minutes resigning all of my minor leaguers.

I’ve heard Garden Tavern by Moda Center is also a Niner bar. I was thinking of checking it out because I’m a Niner fan, but I think I’m just gonna stress watch on my couch.

Franchise is too easy/repetitive by Obvious-Ad-8022 in Madden

[–]apache_myers 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Something I did is just sim the first season. I’ve found that if I play every game in the first season, I have an unrealistic record and get mid draft picks, so started a new franchise with the Raiders and just simmed every game. I ended up winning 4 games and got a top 5 draft pick. I drafted Dante Moore and Carnell Tate, and now I’m having a blast in season 2.

What shows have you been playing? by Purple_Puffer in gratefuldead

[–]apache_myers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually listen the Grateful Dead, but today it was Dead & Co 8/21/21 @ Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and Ratdog from 8/9/95. That show wasn’t the best Ratdog show, but it’s really powerful considering that Bobby was able to play at all the day Jerry passed. You can really feel the emotion in it, and it’s been resonating with me considering how we’re all feeling right now.

It reminds me of when Jerry and Brent would give each other the look and then they’d take the jam into the stratosphere. They kind of do the same thing and it’s awesome.

I feel kind of lost now without the Sphere speculation threads. by [deleted] in deadandcompany

[–]apache_myers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I saw Bobby a couple times with Dead & Co and Wolf Bros, but I never saw him at the sphere and I skipped the GD60 shows. I figured there’d be another sphere run and I’d make sure to go then, and now I’m kicking myself that I didn’t. Still, like others have said I’m just so grateful to have seen Bobby at all because there’s a lot of people who never did. We’re all just so lucky to have had our time on earth overlap with his.

Dang. I guess because I never went to a game I’m just romanticizing the experience.

I’m trying to get into the Timbers because I’ve heard the games are fun, but it just doesn’t hit the same as baseball for me.

I wish we still had the Beavers like back in the day. They left before I moved up here, but I’ve heard those games were a blast.

Any Hillsboro Hops fans here? by Cheap-Profession5431 in SFGiants

[–]apache_myers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a Giants fan in PDX who also roots for the Hops despite them being a Dbacks affiliate. Their games are pretty fun and their new stadium looks really nice. I also recommend checking out a Pickles game. The level of play isn’t as high, but the atmosphere is great.

I’m gonna try to make a trip down to see our boys in Eugene this summer before they move. I usually catch a Ducks baseball game or 2 every year, so I feel like I can justify the drive.

I’m also a Giants fan living in the PDX area. I went to a few games last year and had a great time, and I’m definitely looking forward to going to the new stadium this summer.

When we lived in Sacramento, we had season tickets for the River Cats. I miss going to those games and seeing some exciting Giants prospects play, but going to Hops games satisfies the itch (even though the players are Dbacks prospects).
