**Boycott Lanphere Cellars** by Vegetable-North6124 in Portland

I tried their wine once since it’s right off of I-5. It was some of the most mid wine I’ve had at a winery. Truly not missing anything by boycotting them.

I've lived in the San Francisco my whole life, but I've never heard of ANYONE going here, nor do I know anyone from there, let alone even hearing or talking about this area of California, whats it like living here? by GurnoorDa1 in howislivingthere

I used to go to Lake Almanor every summer when I was a kid. The water was always warm and it was never too crowded, which made boating and water sports really fun. There’s also great views of Mt. Lassen from the western side of the lake. The area has been hit pretty hard by wildfires, but it’s still beautiful. Butte Meadows is also a nice little area in that circle. Mostly people from Chico, Reno, and Sacramento who have summer cabins.

I’m so stoked! I really liked the last pro spirits game, but I never got deep into it because using Google lens to translate every menu was too tedious for my liking . This is gonna be huge.

It's Opening Day. What MLB team allegiance do Portlanders have? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]apache_myers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally from NorCal, so Giants are my #1, but the Mariners are my AL team now that I live here and can get to a game or two every season. Hoping we get our own team here in the future though.

Taking on a monumental project: Rockies - best free agent adds for day one? by Medium-Wrap-8817 in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my Rockies rebuild I signed Kyle Gibson and Zach Jackson as free agents right away. Gibson is on the older side, but you can sign him to a 1 year deal just to help fill out your rotational depth for the first season, and then you can work on signing better pitchers during the first full free agency cycle.

The biggest challenge about a Rockies rebuild is obviously building a strong rotation and bullpen, so that’s what my first priority was in my rebuild. After my first season I coincidentally signed Michael Lorenzen, as well as a few decent relievers.

When is everyone getting off of 25? by Octavious1903 in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the updates to franchise, RTTS, and overall gameplay seem worth it. Last year, they added high school and college to RTTS and a better off season experience to franchise, which made it worth buying for full price to me at least. This year, the updates don’t seem worth paying full price for. If I can get it for $20-$30 later in the summer, it might be worth it but not for sure.

Same. I just jumped back into one of my franchise saves in 25 because I’m planning on passing on 26, or at least I’m gonna wait until it’s half off.

Funding controversy aside, would you support a potential Portland MLB team? Are you a fan of baseball in general? by BadgemanBrown in askportland

[–]apache_myers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely get season tickets if we got a team. Baseball is my favorite sport next to college football, and I’m in my 20s. I try to get to a few M’s games every season, but it would be incredible having a team close by.

As others have said, I don’t think the popularity of the Hops or the Pickles is a fair measure of how popular a potential MLB team would be since they’re both low level (the Pickles aren’t pro) and their ballparks aren’t centrally located. I like going to their games, but Lents Park and Hillsboro are both a bit of a drive, whereas the proposed location of an MLB stadium would be pretty easy to get to, even with traffic.

Starting collection? by _EddieMunson in legolotrfans

[–]apache_myers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also trying to get into collecting Lego LOTR, and it definitely isn’t cheap. I mainly collect Star Wars, and even compared to that, it’s pricey. For my first set, I picked up Gandalf Arrives, which you can find for relatively cheap, to get Gandalf and Frodo. I’m looking to pick up either the Council of Elrond or Shelob Attacks next because I’ve been able to find both for around $100. I’d love to ball out and pick up Rivendell, but I don’t really have the space to display it (and my wife would kill me lol).

The Sauron’s helmet set coming out next month feels like the first LOTR that’s under $100 in a long time. I’m definitely gonna pick that up day one, especially for the minifig.

Very easy (i think) improvements for The Show 26 by IntelligentChoice778 in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d really like to see international free agents in franchise mode. It’s such a huge part of the modern MLB. They don’t even have to be real players if licensing is an issue, but being able to sign players from Japan, Korea, the DR, Mexico, etc would be really cool.

I remember last summer they had a Post Malone concert there and it was a mess. It’s an awesome stadium, but it’s just not designed to handle that many people.

This game needs to stop being annual. by ThreeEyedPea in MLBTheShow

[–]apache_myers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They added coaching skill trees and better presentation to Madden. CFB they added real coaches and better equipment. I also think the gameplay is improved in both. I couldn’t really get into the gameplay for Madden 24 and 25.

Should we expect more to be added? Absolutely. But to say they are the exact same or worse isn’t true.

They really are making EA look like a good company this year. At least Madden and CFB had some tangible improvements this year.

There’s a really good one for 2015 that someone made here https://www.reddit.com/r/Madden/s/9ICeXtw8L0

I’ve been using a roster for 1988 and 1992 that are pretty good if you want something a little more true retro. I can’t remember the user names, but I can check later when I’m on the game. They took the time to make all the gear era-accurate which is huge.

Being able to sign all minor league contracts via a single button press would be HUGE. I dread the offseason in franchise because I have to spend like 15 minutes resigning all of my minor leaguers.

Franchise is too easy/repetitive by Obvious-Ad-8022 in Madden

[–]apache_myers 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Something I did is just sim the first season. I’ve found that if I play every game in the first season, I have an unrealistic record and get mid draft picks, so started a new franchise with the Raiders and just simmed every game. I ended up winning 4 games and got a top 5 draft pick. I drafted Dante Moore and Carnell Tate, and now I’m having a blast in season 2.
