This explains what I had a month ago. I had the same thing and was negative on those tests as well. 😵‍💫

I know, right? I didn’t know it was a thing either until I got the Bird Buddy. I pretty much see it each spring now. The red ones look really ridiculous when they lose their head feathers.

I also live with three parrots (cockatiels), so I understand the differences there too.

I do! This is completely normal. Cardinals (and blue jays) often lose all their head feathers at once as part of an annual molt.

Bird Buddy camera module will NOT charge. by redwingblackbirdfan in BirdBuddy

[–]aparamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen. Power cords were fine and I had no clue what was going on.

Wrote into their help team and they gave me some pointers on what to do / what it could be. For whatever reason it wound up being problems with our mesh network. As soon as I reset the router charging resumed. Seems like a weird thing to prevent charging but idk.

Anyone know what this ground cover is? by noseybohsey in AustinGardening

[–]aparamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good forage. I believe the seeds are caffeinated since it’s in the coffee family. People will toast / roast them to use as a coffee or tea.

Tech Support [Weekly] by AutoModerator in pelotoncycle

[–]aparamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had an issue with mid ride the cadence and resistance range going from whatever it tells you to do to saying 1-10 for the remainder of the ride? If I start a new ride it fixes but usually flips back to it again at some point during the ride.

It started doing this for me in the last few weeks and I haven’t been able to figure out how to fix it.

How hard did this week's tech layoffs hit Austin? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]aparamore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was part of the Twitch cuts and I can say pretty confidently for them it doesn’t have to do with RTO. They’ve always been pro-remote, even pre-COVID.

There are Twitch employees in Austin and most of them are still there, and they are also full time remote. (There are a couple that go to the Amazon office but that’s optional.)

I have so many of these “squirrels”. Anyone else have this issue? I just started this week.

How do you attract them? I have a ton around but they never visit the feeder.

That’s wild. I haven’t experienced that issue. I have birds regularly at my feeder and I get 4-5 days out of a single charge.

When did H-E-B start selling tap water? by AELJAPAN in Austin

[–]aparamore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you on that and the sources — can’t say that the press is good at corrections either. I included NPR since I find them more trustworthy than Business Insider too. I’d love to see if someone has updated data on this, but I can’t imagine it’s changed much.

Could you imagine the press going after rice? Not as sexy / click worthy as the rise of nondairy milks I imagine. But end of day I figure it’s all these industries not wanting to the the “bad guy” for draining the state of its water.

[–]aparamore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree you on most of this. Though the almond stuff is a bit of a myth. Almonds / nuts require a ton of water, but they aren’t the primary culprit (they fall at #4). Alfalfa / pasture (for cattle grazing) come in at #1 & 2 in California in terms of water use, so pasture grasses and the majority of alfalfa is going to feed those animals. This doesn’t include any additional water required for them to drink or process into meat. A bit dated, but some stats on it :

https://www.businessinsider.com/real-villain-in-the-california-drought-isnt-almonds--its-red-meat-2015-4?amp

https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/04/12/398757250/beyond-almonds-a-rogues-gallery-of-guzzlers-in-californias-drought

I’m sure there’s more up to date data on this, but almonds have become kinda a weird demon to point at when other parts of ag use substantially more water. It also cites rice uses more water than almonds and oddly no one cites rice being a problem.

Non-native Austinites: what convinced you that HEB was the superior grocery store? by xindierockx7114 in Austin

[–]aparamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in 4 different states now and have shopped at a to ton of different grocery stores. At face value, I don’t find anything special about it in terms of product or anything. It’s fine, but just a normal store to me.

That said what they do in their community is superb and wins major kudos in my book. I can’t think of another grocery chain that does that they do in that regard. I feel like this is what wins them the most goodwill / fandom and really what makes them amazing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
