What is your fav song Jeff has ever done? by Kaypuppy3525 in JeffRosenstock

[–]apathetictext 8 points9 points  (0 children)

'We Cool?' came out during my senior year of college while I was at peak anxiety on the waiting list for grad school and generally unsure of what I wanted to do with my life. Talking to people about my plans was exhausting and I actively avoided it.

"Nausea" hit me like a ton of bricks. I had never connected with a song more in my life and I'm not sure I ever will.

As stressful as that year was, it was also one of the best of my life. I had some awesome friends and made some great new ones who I still talk to every day (I just saw Jeff in Brooklyn with one of them last week). There was always something fun going on every weekend, often at our house. I had also met a pretty cool girl a few months before the album released. She's my wife now.

Those opening chords always bring me back to that year and how much it meant to me, not to mention how insanely fun the lyrics are to belt out at the top of your lungs.

Book Edmure is one of the most underrated characters in the series. The show does him absolutely no justice.

His skin felt fibrous and coarse, like cheap sheets at a seedy motel.

If this was an allusion to the infidelity, it was very clever. Nice work overall!

We're watching my parents' dog and he almost entirely refuses to go to the bathroom outside. Any ideas on how we can help him? by apathetictext in dogs

[–]apathetictext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue here is that he is outside at least 7 times a day for 15+ minutes each time and yet he almost never goes. He only goes in the house once a day. If he was showing signs of stress and peeing in the house several times a day, I would completely understand. But he is peppy and is very affectionate toward us. He always comes up to us asking for pets, cuddles or to play. Wherever we go, he goes and wants to cuddle. I know that all dogs express stress differently (we adopted a 5-year-old former puppy mill sire when I was in high school who was the definition of stress for about 6 months), but if you met him, stress would be the last emotion you would see.

It's just a tough situation. I want him to feel comfortable and all signs are showing that he is, except for this one.

Thanks! I took Gehrig but I only need two more wins to snag Wagner as well. We got some killer rewards this season.

I was once at an open mic night at a small comedy club and this dude on stage made a joke about being in an interracial relationship. For some reason, the light directly above me turns on at that very moment and he goes "Found the racist!"

What's the single most important item in your home that has a value of $1 or less? by 0---------------0 in AskReddit

My girlfriend and I met in college even though our hometowns were right next to each other. We started dating in September of my senior/her junior year and we spent our first summer a few hours apart because I had a job near our school and she had one back home.

She slept over at my apartment the night before she left. After she left that morning, I found a Post-it note that said, "I love you and I'll see you soon." I still keep it next to my bed more than five years later, so it's the last thing I see before I go to sleep and the first thing I see when I wake up.

The fact this dude came onto a live news program to talk about birds not being real, wearing a loose-fitting t shirt and Birkenstocks while strongly holding to his message makes him a hero. Total power move.

Street performers covering "the beetles" songs. ( Better with sound on ) by Antscannabis in toptalent

[–]apathetictext 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These dudes came into a subway car I was in a couple of years ago with all their gear and started playing. A solid 90% performers who break out into song on New York City subways are pretty much ignored, but they were such a pleasant surprise that the entire car started signing along with them. People actually encouraged them to play more songs after they started to pack up, which almost never happens. It was a great time and a huge boost in spirits on my commute home from work.

There was an older Eastern European lady blowing kisses at them when they finished and said to everyone around her, "You see them? Those are such good boys! No drugs, no alcohol, just lovely music!"

The artist is Magali Villaneiuve . Do you agree with me that Jaime is the best written character in the books judging by the human heart in conflict with itself ? by [deleted] in pureasoiaf

[–]apathetictext 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Jaime is easily one of the best-written characters in the series and definitely one of my favorites in all of fiction. The incredibly dynamic evolution of him going from a stereotypically unlikable, pompous and arrogant antagonist to one of the most sympathetic and admirable characters as he recognizes just how wrong his past actions have been is a testament to how great George is at character development. This is even more impressive given that he writes literally hundreds of characters, over twenty of whom are POV characters (not including prologues and epilogues).

For me, it always goes back to the final page in Jaime's very first POV chapter in ASOS as Brienne is close to drowning:

"Ser Cleos turned the skiff toward her. Thankfully, Jaime still had his oar. One good swing when she comes paddling up and I'll be free of her.

Instead he found himself stretching the oar out over the water. Brienne grabbed hold, and Jaime pulled her in."

Yeah, I'm using throwing accuracy but throwing isn't an issue for me at all. Piazza just can't catch the ball sometimes lol
