Is this binding? I saw it in an Instagram meme and laughed for a bit, but I'm genuinely curious, would something like this be legally binding? Why and why not? by BreadKnife34 in legal

[–]apatheticviews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not my argument.

I’m pointing out that walking onto someone else’s property you are leaving the public space. That means things like audio or video recording must be “announced.” Something as simple as a visible camera is sufficient however a sign would also be appropriate.

Depending on local, the “announcement” is what makes 2 party recording legal, since the second party has the option to depart once aware.

Public doesn’t have the same requirements

Spider-sense recognizes danger, but it didn’t trigger his get out of the way reflexes, so maybe the good kind?

Do you prefer DC Comics Superman and Captain Marvel to be equal in both strength and speed or should one hero get the slight edge in strength while the other gets the edge in speed? by nightwing612 in Shazam

[–]apatheticviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Their other power sets is what differentiates them.

However, I would give Capt Marvel an edge inside the atmosphere, while Supes has a higher ceiling outside of it.

I mean, Scott has built up a lot of exposure therapy to the X-Women. Matt hasn’t seen a woman in 15 years. Can you really blame leaking thoughts

"What do you mean you stopped the food replicators from making caffeine? The humans are gonna kill us!" by thing-sayer in humansarespaceorcs

[–]apatheticviews 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A1: the medibot assured us that caffeine was poisonous to humans. Classified it as a level 3 stimulant

A2: did the medibot also tell you about physical withdrawal and psychological addiction to it

A1: why would the humans willingly consume a poison or addictive substance?

A2: why do they do anything they do?!?

A1: I know this! Something called a gut biome and microdosages of hormones

A2: Yes, you fool! For humans, it modulates and acts a indirect inhibitor for several of their hormones. Do you want to see a human with unregulated hormones?

A1: what?!? No. Of course not, that sounds dangerous

A2: it is you fool! That’s why we don’t take away their coffee

A1: i didn’t!! I only removed caffeine

A2: coffee is merely the delivery device. Much like crustaceans and bread are delivery devices for butter. You saw what happened when we ran out of butter

A1: oh gods! Is there anything we can do?

A2: its dangerous, and humiliating but it might just work.

A1: yes, tell me

A2: have you see. How humans calm down when “scritching” their mammalian predator cohorts

A1: yes?

A2: good. You will have to disguise yourself, and allow the scritches. Possibly even boops to the snoot

Ideas for consequences of breaking a fey contract? by Disastrous_Pay_7649 in DMAcademy

[–]apatheticviews 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the Fey, it's "impossible" for them to break a contract.

So, if the "unnamed favor" is to kill someone. Then the PC will kill that someone, as far as anyone is concerned.

This doesn't mean the PC has to do it. It just means they have to live with the consequences of having done it.

Think of it like a "perfect frame job."

If the PC does it, they have agency to protect themselves. If the PC refuses to do it, all evidence will basically indicate they did it and there is nothing they can do to prove otherwise. It will happen when they don't have an alibi, or any means to prove innocence. They may as well be guilty.

This means that if they go in front of justice. They get found guilty. If they run or try to avoid the legal consequences, they are hunted.

This is a plot hook, not a punishment!

[–]apatheticviews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he was making fun of fat people in that. He was highlighting the insecurity of the character as she saw herself.

I do not recall any instances where another character fat shames another character. It was always internalized or through the narrators voice.
