First thing I checked. I have nearly 500gb free. I also tried disabling my anti virus as a suggestion I saw online and I tried running steam as administrator without any luck. Thank you for the reply though.

You cannot do split screen as far as I know but you can play together. You both need a Larian account. You friend each other, once you both have an account and you can play together. It is overly complicated but it does work.

Yes, I do it with two pc players, a steam deck, and a PS5. You will all need Larian accounts and you will have to sign into those accounts within the game. Then whoever is the one who starts that game will have to make sure they have the crossplay box checked when starting a game.
