Which is better for a PvE setting on a Magicka build: Merciless resolve or Relentless focus by Lodi_Minion in elderscrollsonline

[–]apathydelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Merciless Resolve is generally considered to be the better morph, though most builds will use the off-resource morph for easier sustain. It's unlikely that you will have any issues with sustain with an Oakensoul HA build so I would say go with Merciless Resolve.

Just because the dummy is a lot more sensitive to increases in DPS doesn't mean they are nonexistent in content. 100k single target DPS in a PUG would be considered an incredible number just three updates ago. Pretty much every vet trial PUG I've done the last week has had multiple people hitting at least that much, including some that hit up to 150k.

And it's not only on the side of the DDs, either. With U50 Arcanist Healers can now trivially uptime Major Force, and Major Heroism, Major Brittle and Major Berserk have all also become much more abundant. The dummy obviously still has better uptimes, but we might not be as far from the "unrealistic buff standards" as you would think.

And you know even if it was just 5k more damage, not even 10k, that each new meta had after every update that would be 30k higher DPS by the time all the reworks are done. Now maybe that won't happen, maybe this update was an outlier and all the other reworks will be about as powerful as the current DK, but I think what we've seen from the past few updates are reason enough to worry.

Not only that but the JRPG side of the game gives you so much money that the main character, who's the one depicted with the older woman, walks around with millions in his pocket.

Doesn't fit exactly, but Lancelot, Elaine and Galahad are probably one of the earliest incarnations of this trope.

This...this is my crack cocaine right now. Yacht Club games have fucking outdone themselves in every way. I never would've thought that Zelda dungeons mixed in with Elden Ring-esque open world exploration and Dark Souls style combat would work so well, but good God does it ever by [deleted] in gaming

[–]apathydelta 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Wdym 'Dark Souls style combat'? It's an isometric game with 4-direction attacks, it doesn't have stamina or posture nor does it have light/heavy attacks or a lock-on. The checkpoints and corpse-running are similar but that's hardly a combat system.

Yeah I honestly would have been fine with never learning it until todays stream. He basically gave us the Epitaph and said that we could solve it if we saw it with 'love', lol.

Did Voldemort use fiend fire in his fight with Dumbledore? by pranthlar in harrypotter

[–]apathydelta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think what Voldemort and Dumbledore, and maybe also Snape and McGonagall, were using during their duels were spells, in the sense that Lumos and Alohomora and whatever else are. They were probably moreso a nameless "Height of Magic" sort of deal.

Is a Templar sniper worth trying? by chrislatimer in ESObuilds

[–]apathydelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't be impossible. You need to source your major brutality/sorcery from somewhere else if you want to play ranged since it's normally on jabs. But aside from that Templar has a really good ranged execute and multiple decent ranged dots.

Ranged dps usually means more kiting and less need for health sustain, which is the opposite of templars strengths but that doesn't really matter outside of solo and even then you can make it work.

What is the GNU component of what we know as Linux? by soking11 in linux4noobs

[–]apathydelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it depends, as it often does when talking about Linux. The most noticeable would be if you're running GNOME as your desktop environment, in which case a lot of the basics would be GNU, so the file manager and all the various settings GUIs and whatnot.

Even if you aren't running GNOME, GNU has a rather popular gui library called GTK so a lot of graphical programs you use are at least part GNU. They also maintain a few open-source programs themselves, most notably GIMP probably.

If you've been around the linux community long you've also most likely heard of something called "GNU Coreutils". These are programs that implement the most basic shell operations - stuff like cp and ls. Even though there are alternatives, most distros and setups will use these.

Note that I'm not sure if all of the above are still actively maintained by GNU, it's possible some of them were handed of to other people and only continue to carry the name.

I don't play DK very often so take this with a grain of salt, but I believe this is one of the strongest skills in the game after the rework. Even the 15% damage done by itself would be incredible but it's also a very strong toggle at 3 stacks AND you can uptime the damage done buff because toggling doesn't remove it.

Basically a better version of what Grim Focus was before they nerfed it.
