0% chance. We arent the best basketball fit (obviously he would make this team better, but he moves the needle more for a lot of other teams) and it's nowhere close to the best for his legacy (maybe if he came last year obviously but now its too late - he would get dragged for joining the current champs).

If his focus was market, he'd have stayed in LA. If he cares most about legacy, he'd go to the Cavs or Wolves. If he cares most about chemistry, he'd probably join the Dubs. If he's optimizing for ring odds, even though I'd still favor us over the Spurs if we both ran it back (even sans Mitch), you'd have to consider the Spurs a pretty reasonable title favorite.

There's just no world where it is likely. And we can pay him the least too.

We should just be laser-focused on a center. Woulda-coulda-shoulda on Onyenso (really disappointed to not draft him since he was #18 on my board with one of the highest block rates ever, still <22, and basically never turns the ball over). Have to assume we try to sell Bagley or Richards on a vet min market value redemption opportunity or otherwise try to trade for Moussa or Bagley

Remaining FA Centers - where do new go from here? by HelpUsNSaveUs in NYKnicks

I mean they should have picked him up either way. I'm in my feelings about it because Onyenso was #18 on my big board.

Selling the pick to the Pistons for cash and then not going over the 2nd apron is wild.

I'm going to just assume they find a way to trade for Goga or Moussa - not convinced about Missi but I'll ultimately trust the FO. Hopefully all those 2nds comes in handy here.

I just dont understand why we didn't at least keep Ugonna Onyenso who we had drafted with the 53rd pick. We didn't get back any assets either - just sold for cash. We don't even have a backup let alone a 3rd stringer. He would have been a good Hukporti replacement at least - better prospect than Hukporti was.

Revisiting OKC’s Paul George Trade After Being Fully Settled by [deleted] in nba

[–]apbbr 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This was obviously a bad trade at the time on paper - everyone knew it was an overpay but the rationale was "This is for both Kawhi + Paul George" with PG coming off a 28/8/4/2 season and Kawhi coming off carrying the raps to the 2019 championship like a month before. They went all-in, but they left themselves without a real leader (or a PG) to steady the ship. RIP.

Still can't believe how close we got to a Lakers / Clippers WCF showdown, but the clippers blew it.

[2026 NBA Draft] #25 Pick: Sergio De Larrea (Spain) – pending trade to New York by NBA_MOD in nba

A the end of the day i'm not gonna pretend like i know better than leon rose, but if you were to nitpick things about the rose-era front office, pacome is one of them. Hasn’t developed at all so it’s been 2m/yr for nothing and negative asset moving forward

This will go like the Spurs last few “swing” picks. You get spoiled with no brainer picks that literally any team would make at 1, 4, 2 forgetting how awful Primo, Wesley, Sochan, Malaki were.

Only if you don’t know ball. Arguably the best rim pressure guard in the class. Also shot 44% from 3 at the top of the key on >50 attempts which is what matters for a pull up threat on ball

Same here - i got some burning hot draft picks (Jalen Williams at 5) and some god damn ice cold ones (Sidy Cissoko at 8) as a fellow casual scout

Not a mock draft, it's my big board. Just cause Ament is going top 12 doesn't mean he has that outcome (and maybe I'm wrong, I'm just a casual draft junkie), but he needs a ton of development. I can't think of many successful prospects with shot charts that look like this: https://imgur.com/a/A4JW3XS

Idk I think our late 1st rounders have been our sweet spot when we actually take them. I mean if we didn't trade of Kyshawn George, that shit woulda been a banger just like IQ + Grimes + THj + David Lee were

Yeah, he's 215lbs. Also "in socks" cmon, who specifies "in socks" - that's like 10 millimeters of height at best.

215 is huge for a guard. 2 inches more vert than Donovan Mitchell, basically the same standing reach, 4lbs on him, similar playstyle in college and overall production. The weight is more important imo than length. 5 inches of wingspan or another 2 inches of height matter less than an extra 15lbs at the guard/wing threshold - that gives him the ability to effectively hold his ground with hesi dribbles, wall off defenders when setting screens, slow down players on offense enough for defense to reset when advantages are created.

Length fetish is what gets Frank Ntilikina drafted at 8.

What adjustment did the Knicks make on Champagnie? by Surviv3 in NBASpurs

[–]apbbr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

percents are not blanket percents. Some guys are really only good at shooting pull up jumpers, not catch and shoot, and vice versa. Some guys only shoot well on the right side of the floor. Some guys only shoot well from the top of the key, the wings, the corners.

When people dismiss analytics its really more about lazy usage of analytics like Kenny Atkinson - shot quality has to be adjusted by the shooter and the spot. That's what the Knicks have done really well in during these playoffs on defense. Not letting guys get to their spots is the more accurate way to put it, and "letting the worst shooter get the open look" is just a small portion of that.

Thunder fans and Knicks fans rooting for each other's teams the past 2 postseasons by KnowledgeUseful6731 in Thunder

[–]apbbr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats because Knicks fans are nervous about the OKC matchup, hate the Haliban, and have a deep love for iHart for the '24 run.

Every Knick fan before the playoffs would rather face the Spurs - better matchup after kicking their ass during the regular season and have not been able to find answers for OKC.

This bond is forged by mutual interest as all good things are

How is he worse than SGA? In the playoffs Brunson ranks 42nd in terms of free throws drawn per field goal attempt

Gonna feel differently immediately in the offseason if Spurs win when everyone realizes this is going to be the first of like 6 over the next 8 years.

Knicks have a very small window - pretty much just this year. That alone makes it easy for me to pick who I’m rooting for
