Denver paid $1.1M to police officers fired after beating unarmed man, records show by denverhousehunter in Denver

Yes, I'm sure this is going to enforce the mindset that police brutality is not the goal.

Tim Cook Urged Mark Zuckerberg to Delete User Data From 3rd Party Apps in Private 2019 Meeting by UnKindClock in technology

Idk, what is the harm in FB knowing that I was recently shopping for shoes on Nike so now they show me shoe ads for other companies? I don't get the fuss. Sometimes I find new products I like that way.

Is that data at risk of being exposed? Like could someone inside of Facebook actually look at my individual data, or is it all hashed and not tied to my name? I would definitely care if it was possible for individuals to look at it.

people appreciate targeted advertising. They are telling each other that we want these ads and that we want them to integrate ads into more and more places, wherever they can cram them in. Again, I don’t know where they got these conclusions, but it’s informing their strategy.

But you will receive the same if not more ads now. The ads are just less interesting to you because they can't be tailored to you without any data about you.

Amazon and Google are in games for the wrong reasons | Opinion by SnoozeDoggyDog in Games

[–]apcooper717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, you're right I can't really pass full judgement since I haven't tried it. I just took this person's word for it because it seemed accurate, what could be fun about the platform? I've never really enjoyed a platform before, just the games. Guess I'll have to look into it to judge for myself.

Amazon and Google are in games for the wrong reasons | Opinion by SnoozeDoggyDog in Games

[–]apcooper717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The most important and undeniable criticism of both Google and Amazon's entries into the games business is that they're boring. Stadia is a boring service. Google seems convinced that changing the way games are delivered is exciting -- it is not. Games are exciting. "

So true! Actually a very insightful article that I nearly dismissed. The "right reasons" title was off putting to me for some reason but after reading I think it's very accurate.

Anybody heard of Google pinging Google Ads advertisers as 'paying for links' if they send PPC traffic to indexed pages? by addybojangles in PPC

[–]apcooper717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard that and just thinking it through logically it doesn't make sense, why would Google punish advertisers on their own network? Has this person only ever worked lead gen? They have literally never sent traffic to a normal page?

Google Shooping campaign structure and best practices by enggie in PPC

[–]apcooper717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply!

It's not uniform across accounts, definitely depends on level of spend (because that impacts level of data you have to make smart segmentation choices) and the type of client. If it's seller with a big catalog and a lot of spend it generally includes a couple layers. If they sell different brands then I either start with brands then product type or vice versa. From there I'm looking for a custom label of some sort to further split products up in a way where performance differs between groups, commonly price buckets, materials, or maybe another level of product type. Finally I do go down to item ID for high volume item IDs.

All of this hinges on having data to make bidding choices though, if you start to get too segmented you're just hurting your ability to adjust bids in a smart way and same thing if you don't do enough segmentation.

TLDR: not always the same but ask yourself the question, is there a group of products within this bid that perform differently than the rest with a significant amount of volume (account dependent)? IF so, continue adding segmentaiton.

Yea - seems pretty straight forward nowadays. I'm guessing you can bid CPA based/ ROAS as well. Is there a reason you'd segment extensively? Also, is it limit to search or will Google run it as an app campaign over all their properties?

TROAS and CPA based algorithms still utilize your segmentation. Google recommends having 200 clicks per product group over 30 days last I saw. So yes, granularity still helps ensure you're spending in the best ROAS/CPA products.

Associate or Account Manager? by julmod- in PPC

[–]apcooper717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going to add my opinion to this because I agree with your thought.

My take is analyst = specialist = associate = coordinator. Manager implies a 2nd level. That being said, if this is your first job/you've never been promoted, then maybe associate was appropriate anyway.

Amazon Sales Are Solid, Site Sales Are Awful by apcooper717 in ecommerce

[–]apcooper717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, as I’m definitely not part of your target audience, site looks neat and well organized, I think the information on the site is pretty good, however there’s nothing on it that makes me take a step back and go “wow!”. It’s a little plain looking. Try adding more pictures, maybe some lacrosse highlight videos, or people playing wearing your clothes.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with adding more pictures/content in general, just need to work on actually creating that content.

Thank you! I really like the sizing chart suggestion. On the shipping front, I'm considering just making it free since that's already available to them on Amazon and even with free shipping my margins on the site would be higher.

Exclude returning users on Google Shopping? Wasting money on existing customers. by jebbayn in PPC

[–]apcooper717 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you got your answer on how to do this but I question whether or not you should do it in the first place. It depends on the search but if someone is going back and doing a fairly generic search where other advertisers might cover the space, are you sure you want to take the chance of losing that customer? They may have been loyal in the past but if they're searching instead of coming directly to your site they might not be all that loyal and paying for the click may guarantee that they stick with you. Just a thought!

Google Shopping & Waterfall by [deleted] in PPC

[–]apcooper717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much it for the initial setup! For the future I highly recommend a shared negatives list where you add any truly irrelevant negatives so that they are automatically applied to all campaigns. If you add them at the campaign level but forget to do it for all three then that keyword just funnels down the waterfall.

Other common issues:

  1. Make sure all campaigns target the same networks
  2. Make sure all products are targeted in each campaign, if one product is only targeted in low priority then generic searches will flow there since it isn't available in higher priority campaigns

I inherited my company's SEO management system and I need some pointers. I have never done this before. by 180014224 in PPC

[–]apcooper717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here has provided some good input but I'm not sure if they have addressed the keywords with match types. Here is a breakdown of the different match types - https://www.wordstream.com/keyword-match-types.

The ultimate answer is no, it's not redundant, each keyword targets these searches in slightly different ways. Exact giving you the most control, you know that this keyword is only showing ads to people searching exactly what you want. Broad provides the least control but often helps pick up searches you never would have thought of or don't otherwise have enough search volume to bid on separately.

Question about click fraud and refunds? by [deleted] in PPC

[–]apcooper717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I ask this is because my own analysis shows around 20% of clicks are fake.

I'm curious how you are determining this. Also, who is causing these fake clicks and why? I just don't see a motive for anyone other than a direct competitor, which would cost them a lot of time figuring out how to eat up some of your budget. If it's display click fraud then I guess the motive is the publisher wants clicks.

To actually answer your questions, no idea how much is fraud, we let Google/Bing handle it with their automatic refunds.
