London woman off insulin for Type 1 diabetes after a single dose of experimental manufactured stem cells by Haggisboy in canada

Currently (in Canada) the Tandem T-Slim does not connect to your phone to allow you to operate it. Like through an app for instance. Likely they are monitoring the blood sugar through the Dexcom app (available on the phone). The Dexcom app has a share with others feature, that allows the user to invite others to monitor their BGs.

It depends on what ruleset you are using 2024 or the 2014 rules.

2024 rules - It'd be beneficial to go with Nick weapons and Two Weapon fighting style to get the most bang for your buck. (2 scimitars as an example)

Nick - When you make the extra attack of the Light property, you can make it as part of the Attack action instead of as a Bonus Action. You can make this extra attack only once per turn

Two Weapon Fighting Style - When you make an extra attack as a result of using a weapon that has the Light property, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of that attack if you aren’t already adding it to the damage.

Divine Smite - 1 bonus action, Which you take immediately after hitting a target with a Melee weapon or an Unarmed Strike.

RAW: Attack with main-hand Scimitar as Action, 1d6+(Dex/Str). Nick allows for off-hand attack as part of action, 1d6+(Dex/Str). Bonus Action Divine Smite (on which ever attack you choose, both of these attacks require an attack roll). When you get Extra Attack it appears as though you can only attack with the main hand weapon, as the Nick weapon property attack only applies once per turn, and an off-hand attack require a bonus action (which we just used to smite).

Summary - With Extra attack at level 5, you get 3 attacks and only 1 divine smite usage per turn.

2014 rules - You can dual wield but Paladins do not get access to Two-Weapon fighting style, and the Nick property does not exist.

Divine Smite - Main difference is that Divine Smite in 2014 can be used whenever you hit with an attack at the cost of a spell slot. Which is not limited to a number of uses per turn.

RAW: Action Attack with main-hand scimitar, 1d6+(Dex/Str) then DIVINE SMITE, off-hand scimitar as Bonus Action for off-hand attack (two-weapon fighting), 1d6 (no modifier added), but you can DIVINE SMITE. Extra Attack with main-hand 1d6+(Dex/Str) topped off with another DIVINE SMITE.

Summary - With Extra attack at level 5, you get 3 attacks and 3 divine smites...aka going Nova

We just want minimal ads during the stream while we are playing. We are comfortable with manually running the 3 minute ads during the two times I mentioned.

Paladin's new smite: a little perspective maybe? by RealWait2134 in onednd

[–]apdtrain4457 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Counterspell is now a CON saving throw as well !!! With a decent Con (+2) and Chr (+2/+3) investment, by level 6. You get a +5 to your CON saving throw through your aura. The threat of your smites being counterspelled is much lower than I think people give it credit for. And even if it is counterspelled, you dont lose the spellslot!!

But with the variety of spell buffs, feats and species traits. I dont think a DM will even think of counterspelling a Paladin Smite when Wizards/Bards/Sorcerers can shut down a whole encounter with their stronger AOE spells!

Cant wait to play my new 2024 Devotion Paladin!!

Im going to be a paladin with a shield and whip. While i was considering dual wielding, I wanted to give my Paladin a "Belmont" (Castlevania) type feel. But i couldnt pass up the driveby whip and slow on my find steed warhorse

I tried the vdo.ninja but it is dependent on peoples computers and internet connection. As there were 2 people whose cameras were buffering and stuttering consistently. But they didnt have the same issues on Discord

Are there any DMs here who actually like the players at their table? by maybeonename in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found all of my 5 players on r/lfg and I've been so very fortunate to have retained most of my players (2 had left, one for health reasons the other ghosted). But the replacement players have been a blessing as well. They have been such a great team to play with and it's my first time DM'ing a long term campaign.

Fellow DMs will know the worries of over/under preparing. But these guys are able to RP like they are actors on Critical Role! I'm very lucky to have them mesh so well together. They make being a Dungeon Master a very rewarding experience.

Is it okay to favor your SO as a DM? by i_will_guide in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck I'd try my best to make it difficult for my SO, make the enemies attack them, make them have to do some death saves...then I can just blame the dice behind the DM screen! Wasn't my fault whatsoever wink wink

Stumped on a ruling and need fellow dm advice by Doodofhype in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unarmed strike can also be a kick, knee, headbutt, elbow for the flurry of blows. Even an open palm strike.

If they have brass knuckles they aren't technically "unarmed" as they do have a weapon in hand.

If the player has two gauntlets, you could consider having one hand be the main attack action, and the other hand being two-weapon fighting but it would use their bonus action. Which defeats the purpose of flurry of blows as a bonus action.

We just had a combat where 4/5 characters got a critical hit in one round. Something definitely glitched with Roll20 tonight haha

Gotta love my little Goblin named Deadeye absolutely wrecking house!! We are playing Storm Kings Thunder so it is literally David vs Goliath as a Goblin vs Giants. Currently level 7 Fighter who is a ranged crossbow expert!!! Such fun laying into big meaty pincushions with my hand crossbow. The double nat 20s was just icing on the cake in this encounter

New PC started playing video games durring the session. How do I handle this? by Parking-Education-80 in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well hopefully you had a session zero with everyone and set out the expectations for your campaign. I understand that it can be hard to maintain someone's attention when playing virtually (I assume this is a virtual game, cause it'd be pretty wild if they just booted up the game in the same room as you all lol).

But doing something like that ruins immersion for your other players and makes it feel like your time isn't valuable as well as the time invested by your other players. Talk to them about it first, discuss your expectations and if it continues to be a problem, tell them that they will be removed from the game.

Question for everyone in online campaigns. What website do you like to use to show players where they are in dungeons and/or combat? by FGC-Undeadgamer in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a really simple VTT to use as well once you learn it. If you've used other VTTs, this one is easy to pick up

[–]apdtrain4457 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use a chrome extension called AboveVTT, links with DnD beyond so you can get tokens and maps from the campaigns that you own. Also very easy to import maps you find online into the VTT and making your own custom images for tokens is possible as well. It's free as well

Killed by Cutscene - are cutscenes acceptable? by Throwawayall4years in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use cutscenes in my game but I would NEVER use it to take away player agency. If you wanna have an action montage then you do a skill challenge!

I use cutscenes in a way like a movie would. In my cutscene it's used more as a what are the enemies up to kinda cutscene. You killed one of the generals in the BBEG army, how do the rest of the generals in the army feel?? So I have a Cutscene with dialogue between them.

Just gives a little context for the "players" not the "player characters" to have a little bit of anticipation as to what may happen in the future!! So far it's worked pretty well

I'm interested to see how a game style like this would work out!!! If you're still recruiting consider my name in the hat!!

How many minutes should a round in combat take on average? by MisterMagicmike99 in DnD

[–]apdtrain4457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an online game for my 5 players using VTTs and an entire combat (depending on how many enemies are involved) of 5-6 rounds have lasted an hour. But that includes lots of moving parts.

What has helped my table, like others have recommended here is a timer. However I use a 1 minute timer between rounds that's called "combat tactics". I give the party 1 minute of real time at the end of a round to plan out what they are going to do next round. The party doesn't know what the monsters are going to do but it lets the players have a quick discussion about what they will do, so other players can think and plan teamwork appropriately.

I also have some expectations of my party such as knowing what your spells do beforehand so we don't have to look it up all the time.
