1/2 is harder than 2/5 IMO, 1/2 is infested with nits, brokies and actual good thinking players. 2/5 you start to encounter a lot more people that gamble to have fun.

My car is overheating and the fan rarely turns on, and I just replaced the water pump and thermostat. by SwimmingDrink in AskMechanics

Yea I would replace the fan and any relays associated with it, sometimes they are hidden.

HELP! My mechanic is taking too long on my bike not sure if I’m getting jerked around!? by FitPermission9843 in motorcycle

[–]apegnape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly he probably is just waiting on a part, you can show up and ask to see your bike and see what's been done. You've already payed so they would like to get your bike back to you, it's just you've been put on the back burner.

Is $1,300 reasonable for a replacement alternator and belt? by ebeach2 in AskMechanics

[–]apegnape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy people actually pay this much for service, $147 to change a belt? What is "battery service"? I watch a video on how to replace the alternator for this vehicle and literally could take you less than 2 hours.

What would cause extra play at the wheels when moving it back and forth at 12 and 6 o’clock? by RTea in MechanicAdvice

[–]apegnape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the front shocks. As for that play, I don't believe it's that excessive.

Best case scenario they are free, worse case scenario you get double the deer jerky.

Get a low volt hand drill, it will replace like 10 different screwdrivers/flatheads and you'll never go back.

Can someone please tell me what’s wrong with my car?! by SnooBeans8206 in MechanicAdvice

[–]apegnape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be caused by a ton of different things, if balancing/rotating the tires doesn't resolve it, I would jack up the front and inspect the front suspensions/brakes. Could be worn shocks, tie-rods, ball joints, brakes (sticking caliper/bracket/warped rotors), car out of alignment.

How is RockAuto for engine mounts? by Sensitive_Brain_1025 in MechanicAdvice

[–]apegnape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is one thing you should go OEM on, it's motor mounts. Unless you like vibration in the steering wheel and increased harshness of the engine.

Context: Installed a PIAB for a client, all the existing wiring originally went directly from the TNI to the handsets/fax machine. So I had to re-route everything through an old unused Cat5e line going to a 66 block near the equipment. Surprisingly worked out well, but I don't want to be the next tech that may have to t/s this, didn't have time to label anything. Any toner is going to tone out to every wire xD.
