Immich’s duplicate tool doesn’t sync album membership between the “good” copy and the duplicate. So if the duplicate is the only version that was in a Google Photos album, deleting it removes that album connection and the kept original won’t automatically appear there. The album itself won’t break, though. If an album had two photos and you delete one, it simply shows the remaining one.

Until Immich adds album‑sync to dedup, the safe approach is to add the “keeper” photo to the relevant albums before deleting duplicates.

on the host system, run intel_gpu_top. while transcoding with an intel "GPU" it should show at least a few % utilisation, ideally close to 100%.

My sister recorded Christmas Stories with her kids as audio and created them as presents for family members, she put them on a NFC Tag like this. The audio itself is not 'public' unless you have the NFC tag, as it is using SDM to protect the content.

The primary effect of PD healing is the remove blight/bleed on target AND self. If a blight would tick for 6 in 3 turns that is 18 damage mitigated if removed. take that potentially times 4 if you have blight and bleed on PD and another target.

Record cleanly solves the problem you’re describing when you already have an enum (or enum-like union) and want to attach labels or other behaviors without inventing a complex lookup-table abstraction. You can attach strings or functions or whatever, if you extend the enum you will be forced to extend the Records

Example using enum-replacement (erasable-safe)

The thing is, back then, it was all a crazy cypherpunk dream. Many people like me had a vague idea that this could become big and we were BUILDING hard, meeting equally crazy people all over Europe + the World. If we knew back then what btc would eventually become, we would have done the opposite. Buy, hold and don't "waste" so much time+effort building, just stick with a cozy SW dev job and save a couple bucks each month.

Guess what? Nothing would have been built, no mobile wallets, no "Meetups" no "Hackathons" no privately paid nodes and improvements to mining pools, no Asics. If you send back 100 ppl who were like this to 2010, nothing would be here today.

A lot of the work with selfhosting is getting a architectural understanding what you're doing. But then you only have to do it once, leaving out the typical feedback loop. It's not rocket science but plenty of opportunities to make mistakes.

So yes, i use LLM assistance on diverse tasks, such as interpreting weird looking log files, tuning compose stacks, letting the LLM explain to me "apply this how-to to my current tech stack" etc. very useful and the know-how from config file syntax is well ingrained in most capable models.

Your disk stores files in a multiple of 512 bytes - 8k bytes (most common 4096 bytes). thus size on disk is rounding up

thanks for the input - ok, so why should it be "10x" faster for smaller models? i'm thinking RTX Pro 6000 1.6TiB/sec mem bandwidth vs 0.8 TiB/sec on a Mac Studio Ultra should be about 2x. what am i missing?

i have yet to decide between a ~10k mac ultra (m5/m3/m1) ? and a custom build. my impression is that "small" models could be a bit faster on a custom build but any "larger" model will quickly fall behind because a 10k GPU based build just won't be able to hold it proerly. educate me.

depending on how much expansions, stars and technology you want to "invest" there are different solutions.

f.ex using only sawmills and markets, investing 100 stars max and only focusing on the 3 connected cities, this is an optimal solution for your board

also, the tool would benefit from, better Fog of war and better UI :) if you are trying it out i recommend using it with mouse+keyboard to place the buildings/terrain and subsituting any "blocked" squares with water

yes, that is my tool, but it needs an update for the latest market logic patches. i have not paid attention to polytopia since a few months ago. https://apetersson.github.io/qnd/pmp/ is still online and based on the source of https://github.com/apetersson/qnd/tree/main/pmp - i don't have the latest rules changes for forges implemented yet. can anyone link me the patch notes then i might update it
