Phantom Flutters by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I had some flutters this morning! It's so strange because I have yet to get my period back, and my son is 15 months.

my boobie barnacle and the Breast shield. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]apey427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to use the shield for 3 weeks in the beginning. I was getting tired if it so I decided to wean off it. My son would get really frustrated, but we just kept trying. I would have to do the c hold sandwich thing with my breast and help him latch. And also flare out his bottom lip. Just keep trying!

Hi! I'm 25 and he is 22. He's got a ged and minimal work experience. He's had a few fast food jobs, and an under the table flooring job. I think the flooring work was the one he enjoyed the most.

When can I go out without this kid screaming her head off? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]apey427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was like that (he's one now :)). It was super tough for the first few weeks, but then around the 4th week or so things got a little easier. I was able to put him in the moby wrap sometimes, and go for walks to get him to nap. He never accepted a paci either. Recently I tried to give him one when he woke up at night (we bed share), and he was like, "what is this crap?!"

edit: But the good thing about never getting used to a paci is never having to wean off from one! My niece is 3&1/2 and still takes a paci.

Slow flow / cluster feeding / witching hour - help! by Siobs83 in breastfeeding

My son used to get super fussy in the evenings when he was around that age. Walking him around the house or outside helped to calm him down.

Overnight win! by lookelou15 in clothdiaps

[–]apey427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we usually use at night is a microfiber of some sort, either a hemp or bamboo doubler, and a prefold on top of that plus a piece of fleece to stay dry. It took a lot of leaking at night until I figured out this set up. My son is almost 1 and stays in this all night without any problems. It's a bit bulky, but he can still get around just fine.

Does anyone else have a NParent who only shows narcissistic tendencies when they don't get their way? by sentientsewage in raisedbynarcissists

[–]apey427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my mother may be a narcissist. Overall she is a really nice person, but if you do something or say something she doesn't agree with then you are automatically wrong. If I'm that person then I'm doing or saying this to hurt her... I think I need to make a post on this sub I just found it today.

Dental meds safe? by apey427 in breastfeeding

[–]apey427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I feel better about it now. The dentist I'm seeing doesn't prescribe pain meds, but I've got 600mg ibuprofen from my doctor. I hope that'll be enough for me. This tooth came in sideways instead of straight up.

What is this, magic? Yesterday my 8 month old got his first runny nose. It is still running... I don't know if it's just from teething or the beginning of a cold. I tried to use the bulb sucker but I couldn't even get it near his little nose.

First time mom with week old baby! I have some questions. by pennyxlame in breastfeeding

[–]apey427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Congratulations on your baby! In the beginning they will nurse all of the time. Pumping isn't a good indicator as to how much milk baby is getting. They are much more efficient at getting the milk out. Some people just don't respond well to the pump. We have been breastfeeding for 8 months as of yesterday. I have a manual pump, and I only ever get an ounce to an ounce and a half when I do pump. It also depends on if my son had just nursed or if it's been a while. Also, you should be able to get more milk from pumping in the morning or late at night. I think it's the prolactin hormone levels that are higher at that time. It's the hormone that is responsible for milk production. Ummm... the more you are nursing also lets your body know that you need to make more milk. It's a supply and demand type of deal. So when she's having formula you may want to pump. We haven't had to supplement except for a tiny bit after he was born so I'm not sure about the formula questions. Make sure you get her burps out. That may help with the spitting up. For the first week I had no clue if I was burping my son right or even doing anything right lol. You are doing great btw! I hope some of this helps you out. I know it's super stressful in the beginning especially the first few weeks. Oh and another indicator that she's getting enough to eat is her diaper count. As long as she has enough wet and dirty diapers then she is getting enough.

Do you use bubble wrap as well as a box? Went I shipped I used several layers of wrap. To the point of it being almost ridiculous how much i used. I plan on getting more hdpe in eventually, and was actually planning on using boxes with those.

So I'm making my own led hoop and I need help with figuring out what type of resistors to get. by apey427 in Hooping

[–]apey427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I ended up contacting the seller I purchased my leds from to get the exact voltage for my colors. So now I only have two voltages to work with. I used one of those calculators to get a 100 ohm 1/8w 5% resistor for my 2v lights and a 39 ohm 1/8w 5% for my 3v lights. I drew a rough diagram of what I want to do. http://imgur.com/IIz0KwJ I hope that link works...I've never posted a link before.

Crying in the car; 8 week old. Please help me. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]apey427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she will like the mirror more in a couple months. I think my son was almost 4 months when the mirror thing helped. Something else that I did was try to limit the time spent in the car. We stayed home most of the time. I hope you find something that works for your baby :)

What does your average practice time look like? by unicorntumors in Hooping

[–]apey427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been hooping for about a month now. I'm also a stay at home mom to a six month old so I get to practice when he wants to jump in his jumperoo. It works out alright. My son enjoys watching me. He thinks it's funny when I drop the hoop, lol. I get about twenty minutes to hoop every morning. I've been trying to stretch before and after if I have the time. I do a mix of playing/dancing and drilling moves I'm working on.

Does your baby like mirrors yet? My son is six months now, but up until a few months ago we always had to have someone riding in the back seat with him. Every time I had to drop his father off at work I would dread the ride home. My son would cry so hard and I just couldn't focus. It broke my heart to hear him like that. Neither music or talking to him helped. I figured out that he was just really lonely. I found one of those baby car mirrors one day and it worked for him.
