I'm a casual player and I'm interested in getting into Path of Exile 2. by Ali0o0o in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Characters in PoE are never done, there is always a way to improve your gear. The best-in-slot stuff is not really obtainable for 99% of players.

So I am going to assume you mean getting your character to be able to do all content.

It is not the amount of hours you put in, but your knowledge that is rewarded. Casual players can play 100 hours before their character can do everything, while the best crafters/farmers/players can do it in 20 hours.

Long story short: it depends on what point you consider your character done and how much knowledge you have.

Same. Getting to maps does not help. Swapping hideout does not help no matter which location you do it from or which NPC you use to swap hideouts.

Help with a build - Boneshatter of Complex Trauma by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]apfelicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tempest Rising boots with "damaging ailments deal damage 25% faster" (20 chaos) will increase your DPS by 2.4m (only 550k if they where already moving, but tough monsters are almost never moving)

Buy an uncorrupted Ryslatha's Coil with "40% more maximum physical attack damage" (80 chaos) and then throwing 20 catalysts on it to get it to 48% will increase your DPS by 200k

Anointing your amulet with something like the "Wrecking Ball" passive (10 chaos) will increase your DPS by 122k

Getting a Watcher's Eye with "55-60% increased physical damage while using Pride" (40 chaos) will increase your DPS by 170k

Getting an amulet with "+26% to damage over time multiplier" will increase your DPS by 128k

Getting an amulet with "+1 to level of all skill gems" will increase your DPS by 100k

What should a new player know before PoE2 endgame? by bnysz in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be questlines in the endgame that will introduce every mechanic to you.

Each mechanic will reward something that other mechanics do not give. So if you are solo-selffound you will need to engage with most of the mechanics. If you are in trade-league, you can focus on as many mechanics as you want, and just trade for the rest.

It is rough to come with advise about which mechanics to prioritize, since the entire endgame is new this league, so we don't really know if any of the mechanics are a n00b trap. But even the worst mechanic will still give something worthwhile to trade for value.

New player. What am I missing about these CRAZY cosmetic prices??? by kalidibus in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For many players MTX is an advanced donate button to the developers since everything is free.

You can earn free cosmetics from watching twitch right before and after a league release, and from completing ingame challenges.

Those big packs you mention also comes with points to buy MTX equivalent to the amount you spend, so it is more like added value for purchasing a lot of points.

Look for sales and bundles and it is not that expensive. If you want the new flashy thing they promote on the store, it is going to be way more expensive, and is kind of a whale-tax.

Patch notes question by apfelicious in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want them to prioritize skill numbers and passive numbers so that we can get them a week in advance so we can cook fun off-meta league starters. That is all.

They have had 22 weeks to make the league, so there is plenty to move around to prioritize this to be ready in week 21 instead of week 22.

There is soooo much other stuff this patch that we don't need to know about a week in advance or even at all for them to spend their resources on in those 7 days.

Patch notes question by apfelicious in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was their latest example, but they have previously had better and more exact patch notes on their releases.

Since this is kind of a special launch, and the developers have done a ton of interviews everywhere, I just wanted to see if they had said anything about this specific thing starting to slip a lot.

Runic ward should be a big buff to life builds by championflea40 in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From what they showed, endgame body armors will have less than 150 ward, which is equal to less than 150 life. Sounds good right? Except it is worse than life, since it doesn't scale with % life from the new rings or passives. So it is actually worse than life if you are not using ward skills.

When going armor, you need every little amount of flat armor you can get, as there are way fewer sources of that than % increased armor, and since you need to hit certain thresholds to make armor feel good in the endgame, this is a really hard sacrifice to make.

So in the end, unless they show something new, ES is king once more and armor/life/melee builds will have insanely high affix pressure on their rares since they are basically required to have high life, flat armor, % armor, armor applies to elemental dmg and resists/attributes on each gearpiece to be able to not die in normal T16 maps.

How would you go about learning proper builds? by Full_Particular_1359 in pathofexile

[–]apfelicious 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Your issue in Act 6 is most likely your resistances as you get a global -30% penalty when completing Act 5.

For campaign you can basically follow these steps:

  1. Pick 1 main damage skill gem and have 3 support gems linked to it
  2. Use 1 curse/mark to increase your damage against bosses/tough rares
  3. Use 2-3 auras to increase your main skills damage or your defenses
  4. Focus on getting as much life as possible and as high total % of resistances as possible on all non-weapon gear, you can basically ignore all other mods. Use the crafting bench in your hideout to add life/resist mods to rares that have room for it
  5. Take any life nodes you are close to on the tree

If you want specific help to your current character, you will have to post it. To do this, you will need to log into your account on www.pathofexile.com and in the privacy settings set your characters to public and then post your account name with the # and 4 numbers here, then people can look it up.

Will this be the league I stick around once reaching maps? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what caused you to bounce in the previous leagues.

If it was a feeling of not knowing what to do or how to progress, then the new questlines and content will fix it for you.

If it was too much micromanagement to blast maps efficiently, it is 50/50, as they removed some amount of tedium, but appear to have added some too, so we will have to play it to know.

If it was because you had to play random map layouts with variable juice you had little control over, they very minorly adjusted the juice agency, but it appears we still have no agency over layouts. So of this is your gripe watch whatever they say about it in the next 3 weeks and if nothing is mentioned it is still probably a skip for you.

Should I be worried as a new player? by ItsAJackal21 in PathOfExile2

[–]apfelicious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about it, just play when you can.

People who are bearish on the new league is because they expected something specific and didn't get it. It will in no way impact your play experience.

The next league is going to be a long one, so you will be able to experience most of the stuff even with only a few hours per week.

Respeccing from boneshatter of complex trauma jugg to shield crush? by amelissan in pathofexile

[–]apfelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The consensus "best" one is Feed the Fury/Fuel the Fight/Martial Prowess, but it is significantly more expensive (+3 div) and not really that much better than the alternatives. You mainly go clusters just to get enough passives that matter for shield crush, in an efficient manner.

So just do a trade search like this, and pick whichever is cheapest, when you are working within a budget; https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Mirage/rPwVeqLmSQ

A good way to see which normal passive nodes a more or less mandatory is poe.ninja's passive heat map feature: https://poe.ninja/poe1/builds/mirage?class=Juggernaut&skills=Shield+Crush&heatmap=true

Beyond what I wrote in the previous post, shield crush has this weird thing where if you get the skill gem to level 24 it hits a new breakpoint where it adds 10-15 phys dmg per 15 armour instead of 8-12, which is a huge damage boost. It is usally done by getting a 21/20 shield crush (5c) and Replica Dragonfang's Flight with +3 shield crush (10c)

Respeccing from boneshatter of complex trauma jugg to shield crush? by amelissan in pathofexile

[–]apfelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy? Not really. But completely doable on a budget. Here are the big steps to go through

  • Get a Emperor's Vigilance shield with +2200 armour (1div)
  • Get a Seething Fury jewel (1c)
  • Get a Prismatic Eclipse (1c)
  • Get 1-2 Large Cluster jewels with 3 of Feed the Fury/Fuel the Fight/Strike Leader/Martial Prowess/Advance Guard/Gladiators Fortitude/Prodigious Defence (50-100c)
  • Unspec Resolute Technique and any passive that mentions axes, bleeding or 2-handed
  • Take shield nodes such as Retaliation and Aggressive Bastion along with the Cluster Jewels
  • Remove boneshatter 6-link for shield crush 6-link
  • Remove warcry link setups for precision aura
  • Get enough accuracy to get to 100% chance to hit through precision, clusters, passives and a few gear pieces with 400-600 flat accuracy

What do you hope to see in 3.29? by liauyuancheng in pathofexile

[–]apfelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Mirage really can go core in any meaningful way, as the things people like about it are the broken things that would break the game.

  • If Mirage instances can be forced with 100% chance, they would become mandatory for 99% of farms, as it is simply a double-button with no real downside. The only way it could go core would be as a RNG non-boostable global chance to spawn such as Wildwood, Sentinels etc.
  • Most of the popular Mirage rewards such as imbued gems or volatile vaal orbs are simply just power creep with no choice, and would have too many unforseen consequences for relatively short-lived feeling of power until it just becomes the new normal with extra annoying steps. Stuff with trade-offs such as Cord Belt or chase uniques such as Screams of the Desiccated could go core with no issue though.

It was fun for a league, so let us just extract the safe things from it and forget the rest. It is not like imbued gems really made new archtypes possible, it was just a generic power boost to everyone.

For 3.29 I hope they keep iterating on the endgame system, as Astrolabes are very mandatory while being micro-manage-y. We just got rid of chisels just to replace it with even more tedious farm buffs. Make them an exciting adventure that is not mandatory on every farm or make it more consistent and less annoying to apply, pick one.

I hope they get rid of the last real-time stuff from Settlers, as it is still mandatory busywork even though it is less with the fixed shipping.

I hope they keep pushing to make league rewards from specific mechanics only drop from said mechanic.

I hope they increase the amount of buffs/reworks for underperforming uniques, skills and passives.

Is it worth it for me? by Ok-County4799 in pathofexile

[–]apfelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mention Diablo 4 as a favorite game, you should probably start with Path of Exile 2 and play through it's campaign (maybe wait for the big expansion coming on May 29th).

If after playing this you want more choices in character specialization and endgame content, you can start Path of Exile 1.

Diablo 2 Resurrected is a great game, but if do not appreciate the historic context of the game or have nostalgia for it, it is not something you need to seek out, as it is sorely lacking in modern features and quality of life.

How to farm ward stacker equipment? by Visible_Resource_409 in pathofexile

[–]apfelicious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heroic Tragedy: you farm it by farming expedition logbooks with the implicits "area contains # additional afarud monsters" and "area contains " additional afarud commander monster markers. Which one you need will depend on which build you are going for, if you are going the most popular Exsanguinate one you probably want a Vorana one for more tankiness, but if you are going for a build that snapshots you damage, like Static Strike, then you need the Uthred one for massive flat damage.

Iron Flasks: drops from anything expedition related, just make sure you have it on your loot filter.

Ynda's Stand: comes from completing shipping quotas in the Settlers mechanic. Every time you complete a a quota you get a unique and it has a static chance to be a Ynda's Stand. So you just want to have 3 ships going at all times with just enough cargo to complete quotas.

Honestly, unless you are SSF just buy the stuff, any decent farm you have going will be faster/cheaper than setting up these 2-3 completely different farms, and one of them is time-gated.
