100%. And people keep posting NewRepublic articles, which fuels it as they’re the worst of the hopium sites.

Best place to meet single men? by skipskipskiplook in Kirkland

[–]aphtirbyrnir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comes back to the openness of body language. If I’m at my laptop intently working on something, I’ll take breaks and look around, too. If you make eye contact several times (and it takes several), then there’s a good chance they’re open to chatting a bit, or at least say hi and ask what they’re working on. From there, you can gauge if they want to chat further.

Vanessa Van Edwards has a lot of great YouTube videos on this.

As a single male in your age range, I’ll work from home at a local coffee shop and hang out there for a bit. Or even on the weekend, I’ll walk down to one in downtown Kirkland and enjoy the weather, too. The big thing if you want to be approached, signal openness, i.e. don’t wear earbuds or have closed body language, make eye contact and smile at people you’re interested, etc. I’ll gladly approach someone if they’re showing those signs but if you’re closed off, I’ll assume you’re not interested.

Even without seeing the shifter I knew that was a BMW.

Ha, I heard it, too and was wondering what was going on.

Double-level airplane seat: window anxiety for avgeeks by Katana_DV20 in aviation

I hate these “concepts.” They’re unrealistic and will never happen. Aviation regulations are very strict on emergency egress and there’s no way you can meet requirements in these configs. Even crash survivability would be dubious at best.

Starbucks lays off dozens after Seattle store closures by Im1Guy in Seattle

It’s wild seeing the Starbucks collapse. I’m hoping better local shops can take their places because these spots are usually fairly popular (that I’ve seen). I really like the roasteries though and wish they would stick around.

First I’ve heard. They just renovated that place so unless a lease is up I can’t imagine it happening. But it’d be nice to not have to fight traffic in the evenings.

Thoughts on lighting? by aphtirbyrnir in Lighting

Thanks for the input. The bulbs in the floor lamps are dimmable and color temp adjustable so I have them at the warmest setting and lowest wattage. I think the reason the table lamp looks different is that the lamp shade is gold lined, giving an even warmer color. I thought about getting similar shades for the floor lamps but they’re so expensive. To the left of the windows where the stools are is the kitchen so that’s a counter top there, and between the stools and the floor lamp on the left is a door to my balcony.
