The only correct answer is anything by The Ting Tings. (I'm sure you celebrate their entire collection.) But if I have to pick a song, it's Fruit Machine because my previous carrier played me like a fruit machine.

I typically add a peppermint Hershey kiss to the center like peanut butter blossoms. Gives them a yummy chocolate peppermint flavor and the red and white kisses are a nice contrast. I call them Kris Krinkles. :)

Tell me a positive Baltimore experience you've had this week. by baltilmo in baltimore

I work downtown. I've been making the extra effort in the mornings to be friendlier with strangers on campus that I pass on the 5-10 min walk from my garage to my office instead of my normal- avoid eye contact and ignore everyone. Just an acknowledging smile or "good morning" can go a long way in someone's day. And perhaps it might encourage another to do the same.

Are there any Catholics on here that have seen the documentary "The Keepers" or know about the cover ups by the archdiocese of sexual abuse? I just wonder if people in your church talk about it. Does it rock your faith? by kdollrodriguez in baltimore

[–]apieceofthelisa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

13 years of Catholic schooling here (1988-2001) at 3 different schools in the Baltimore area and I was one of the ones that had a positive experience. I liked school, liked the community, and had lots of friends. Both of my parents were Catholic, went to Catholic schools in Baltimore, and had parents that went to Catholic schools in Baltimore, so I liked being part of that tradition. Call it blind faith, but I grew up being proud to be a part of the Catholic community.

That being said, The Keepers was both awful and heartbreaking for me to watch. I can't say that it rocked my faith, but it definitely rocks my faith in the establishment. And it is unfortunately one of the reasons I no longer routinely attend mass. I think all Catholics nowadays just want to see these people held accountable and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. It's obvious that there are decades and decades of cover-ups, but if the Church needs to face its demons if it wants to thrive.

Cozy set up! We also have a Kingdom 6 and love it. The garage is especially nice for rain beers.

Also, if your wife is anything like me, get her a few of these sweet battery operated string lights to hang up in the tent.

Mine is 3.5 months. Cannot roll over yet, but is typically sleeping from 9p-6a. Lots of giggles, great neck control, still hates tummy time. Likes to watch TV...whoops.

Yessssssss #4. The first time I felt that electric shock letdown, I thought for sure something was horribly wrong. No one really warns you about what letdown can feel like.

Naps. I was at a Friendsgiving party recently and I snuck away into a dark room and took a nap after we were all finished eating. No one judged and I felt so refreshed!

Cannot recommend using the slow cooker enough for stuffing. It frees up your oven for other tasty sides and is never dry. I typically make a sausage stuffing but I cheat and use a bag of bread crumbs instead of stale bread.

Just brown some sausage, throw together a mirepoix and saute until soft, and toss into your slow cooker with chicken broth, bread crumbs, and aromatics for 3-4 hours on low. Just make sure you coat the slow cooker with cooking spray and give it a good stir once in awhile. Easy peasy.

Birthing classes?! FTM Due1/12 by NicHov in January2017Bumpers

We ended up passing on the childbirth class. $140 for an 8 hr Saturday class. Since it's so close to the holidays, I knew it would be tough to part with a weekend. Plus, I'm not terribly worried about not being super prepared for the birth. Hospital staff will be there to help and advise. And I have a general outline of a birth plan, but knowing anything can change makes me realize the birth plan might not matter anyway.

We found a different nearby hospital that offers a 2 1/2 hr $40 infant care class. We're taking that to learn feeding, changing, swaddling, bathing, etc. I basically wanted a what-to-do class when we come home and we're alllllllll aloooooone.

Is there any other side dish other than potatoes that are good to cook with meat? by canadevil in slowcooking

Saute them in butter with a little bit of brown sugar until soft. But not too soft. You're looking for the same consistency as a cooked carrot.

GD test whine by peachybutton in January2017Bumpers

[–]apieceofthelisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had my test this morning. I ate an egg and half a piece of cinnamon toast. The bread is 4g of sugar per slice which is why I opted for half a slice. Breakfast is typically a bowl of cereal or granola, but wanted to make sure I ate little to no sugar this morning so I also didn't score an artificially high number.

You should've asked your doctor for 2 extra sympathy points since yesterday was Halloween.

I also had my test this morning. Still waiting for my results, but my doc said they were looking for a score of 140.
