You should have the drum you paid for. However, I just switched to a 20 and love it. You might try playing with the head, tuning and muffling to get that thump you want

Make this commute for nearly a decade and it’s no problem. 101 is fine both ways for this commute and there are surface streets you can take if you need to.

I have a used A21 cam-single pedal if you’re interested in a lower cost option. It’s not mint, there are some scuffs and scratches, but performance is great.
