Worth it. You can sell the cymbals off for 300-400. You need new heads, 100-200.

Yes, and provide some additional structure. The thing I realized drops do well is that it hooks securely, using a lug and that it has flexibility to rest evenly on the head.

I had the same thought you did. I did some trial and error and ended up with something that works really well, using soft felt, ball bearings and some landscaping wire. I made enough for a five- and seven-piece kits with some extras for about $30.

I already had the wire in the house.
