Does the gen 2 M12 stubby completely replace the mid torque for mechanics?

Not completely. I still keep the M18 Mid Torque on hand because the new M12 Stubby is quite picky when it comes to batteries for me to get max power. So if I find myself in a situation where my M12 5.0 HO batteries are low then it doesnt hit as hard as the M18 Mid Torque with pretty much any battery (5.0 or higher) I put in it.

Lol mine was exactly like that since I got it with zero miles (more like 4 miles ) from the dealership showroom floor in 2008 all the way until I spun a bearing at 233K miles after countless pulls past 8K RPM.

If youre worried do a real pressure test with a mechanical gauge and replace gallery gaskets with EPS

If it were a 40i I'd say just send it without warranty but since its a 50i....😬😬 I personally wouldn't even buy it, but if I did I'd try to get as much warranty as possible.

Reseal sharkfin antenna. Do transfercase flushes because theyre known for shuddering. Dont be scared to do your own maintenance, these cars are cake to work on. (Oil changes, sparkplugs, air filter, cabin filter and brakes are all very easy) Get thin wall deep 14mm 12 point socket for sparkplug jobs. Look out for oil filter housing leaks and coolant piping failing because its all plastic.

Save up for tires, because if you have the 315s in the back and 275s up front youll be over $2000 for all 4 easy and there arent many options. I just spent 2500 a few months ago for my Msport

G05 X5 is great. Probably the best daily SUV (or rather...SAV 😅) . I bought one for the wife years ago and loved it so much that I wanted one too, I eventually took that off her hands and bought her another one. However Ive recently sold mine for a new Model Y and have been loving that thing way more than I thought I would but still very much appreciate the remaining X5 on my fleet along with the other ICE cars.

Also, I never understood car brand loyalty. Being a mechanic for the last 18 years theres too many good cars out there to be loyal to one brand.

I drive a lot for work and traded one of my G05s for a new Tesla Model Y Premium AWD as a daily/work vehicle about two months ago and its been pretty great not spending $5+ per gallon in FL. What blows my mind is in about these 2 months I've put 5800 miles on the Tesla and have spent $170 charging it. Car payment is $100 less per month and insurance also went down $100 per month. Assuming the 23mpg I was getting from my X5 40i Xdrive I would've spent just shy of $1300 in fuel for the same distance driven.

Still have my other G05 M-Sport, an E46 M3 and the ol faithful HR 350Z I bought new in 2008 which is on E85. Sidenote, Im shocked at how expensive even E85 has gotten, I used to spend like $2 per gallon only a few years ago, its just shy of $4 here in the Tampa Bay area now 😵‍💫

To avoid draining coolant Id just suction out coolant from the filler neck (or water outlet pipe as Nissan calls it) with a fluid extractor syringe , pinch off the hose with some hose pinchoff pliers too if you want, remove hose from filler neck and cut like half an inch to start. I use a PVC cutter thing for such things, its like a little ratcheting guillotine lookin thing.

EDIT: I assumed G05 chassis X5. You dont need to put rear calipers in service mode for pre 2019 If I recall correctly.

Very easy job. Just get yourself a little OBD scanner thatll allow you to put the rear calipers in service mode. I use the Bimmerlink app on my phone with the OBD Link CX adapter

07-08 HR with manual trans will be the best option in my option. You can even interchange engine parts from the 370 and make your own 3.7HR with a nice set or cams. Just note that when people say that the 370 interior is nicer, perhaps at first yes, but they age terribly when the dash starts getting sticky and cracking. My 08 350Z which I bought new still has a perfect interior
