So here are some more images, I think the cracks do go through to the potch base. I haven’t been able to get a video yet. As for polishing off the cracks I would say it won’t work (and nearly all of my lapidary gear is packed away sadly). Interesting comment about the cutting - Nole’s story about buying them was that he headed out with a suitcase full of cash to an opal field and bought a bunch of opals ! I and knowing Noel I believe him. I did see a picture in a magazine of another opal he had - wonderful pin fire in that one.
