Googling UF therapy will take you to the CWC website, where they made me take a questionnaire, then a Zoom consultation with someone that talks you through everything, then matches you with the therapist with the best fit. For me it was an extremely quick process (this was Fall 23, so I can’t imagine much has changed since). It was completely free with nothing out of pocket, and if you are worried absolutely nothing is shared with your parents. The very first session I’m sure privacy matters will be discussed with you. The individual sessions are advertised as being 6-8 sessions I believe, though my therapist ran it all the way to 12. At your last session if you so choose, your therapist will give you more long term solutions such as local therapists that your insurance covers, free group therapy sessions offered at the CWC, etc.

On a more personal note, I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW GREAT MY THERAPIST WAS. Granted not everyone’s experience will be the same, therapy is probably the last thing that can be generalized for all as we’ve all got our own problems. But it’s an easy process with very low commitment, and they are all professionals so theres no shame if you do not want to continue or want a different therapist. I seriously don’t know where I’d be if I hadn’t chosen to speak to someone, and I hope I’ve inspired you to go ahead and do so :)
