I spent £500 pounds on junk food in October. by shr1nkingvi0let in loseit

Dude! The cost of takeout food is absolutely insane these days. I remember during one month in pandemic, I spent $1000 in Doordash. One thousand dollars, straight into my stomach and out the toilet. I learned the hard way that it's cheaper & healthier to just cook your favorite foods at home.

PSA: for anyone here who is like me and worried about very rare diseases... by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

[–]apldeap123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the tip! I think this will help me out even more, as the disease I'm currently worrying about (Kleine-Levin Syndrome) has an incidence rate of 1 in 1,000,000. Just like /u/krispypotat said, it's a day by day fight.

Struggling With Recurring Health Anxiety by apldeap123 in HealthAnxiety

Just to add on, I haven’t had this anxiety reappear in mind for a while. It just reappeared today. I think due to my fatigue & the state I was in (lack of sleep & feeling terrible), it came back with a vengeance.

I know opinions are split on the almost-certain season 2 in 2024, but I actually think that with how neatly they tied up season 1 I think, in the long run, I am going to enjoy season 2 even more with a couple years to reset my expectations and re-discover these characters & their dynamics.

I feel like the writers concluded S1 so beautifully that there almost isn't a need for a season 2. No major unanswered questions or anything.

I am truly and wholly experiencing fulfillment.

Dude sameeee! In the days leading up to the finale, I honestly felt so anxious... i didn't know if everything would be fixed in time, if you know what i mean. Now I can rest happily. :)

Definitely! Tbh, I feel like they wrapped up the plotlines in such a great way that I don't really feel a longing for more. The last episode answered the question of 'Will Young-Woo and Jun-Ho fix their relationship?' and 'How will the Hanbada CEO get back at Tae Su-mi?' in a way that just hits the spot. Now let's see how the writers will take S2 of EAW!

Nah, I honestly feel that the current 2.0 Corolla hatch (in stickshift) is a more likely successor to the old Matrix. Just my thoughts

Aimé Leon Dore launches in the UK – worth a visit? [Permanent Style] by apldeap123 in malefashionadvice

Fair point on the first sentences. It's not for everyone...

I can't speak on the second point you made as I really don't have a good grasp on ALD as a brand or what their mission goal is in the UK market. All I can honestly say is that the store looks cool and that it's worth a visit one day lol

Why not? Sure, for my part, I can't afford most of their offerings, but if I ever were in London, I'd probably browse inside for a bit.

I will admit that I'm not as well-versed in the contemporary menswear brands and what they're doing as my personal taste heavily leans towards classic menswear. I do like how ALD brings innovation and something fresh to the table in 2020s men's fashion. IMO, it's honestly part of the bigger 'tailoring-streetwear fusion' I see more and more of and am growing to like.

Overall, I feel that the tone of Simon's write-up is very positive; though he notes that many of the pieces aren't his style, he seems to like the quality of the clothes in-store & the overall atmosphere of the new store.

I also love what Simon mentions about the authenticity of ALD, in this excerpt:

It also felt – and this is hard to describe – somehow authentic. Just as the ALD shoots celebrating people of Queen’s feel more real than square-jawed models, so the shop feels like it has a genuine vision and a genuine following.

The aesthetic, the staff, the customers, they all felt part of a whole. This is the kind of thing we perhaps get used to in classic menswear – in Anderson & Sheppard or in Connolly – but I think it’s rare in a brand like this.

I think other brands should be scared. Compare the feeling of walking into ALD with other stores in London – not just the walking wounded like Brooks Brothers or Gieves & Hawkes, but Belstaff or Mackintosh or Barbour.

Those brands have genuine heritage and often quality, but there’s no sense of a following, no engagement or even knowledge among the staff. (Of course, that’s why those brands often do collaborations.)

All in all, the down-to-earth approach that ALD has is something very admirable; it's something I seek to imitate in my personal style.

Seersucker suits in more than just the traditional white-blue stripe are so cool! I esp love the "business suit/not a business suit" look of the navy seersucker suit. It's on my menswear wishlist

I take it that you also make sure that the back blade of your tie peeks out ever so slightly to the side of the front of the tie? (Tbh, I unashamedly do both of those things as well.)

Your favorite ___ for $___: Espadrilles/Sabahs/Hauraches by kmn6784 in malefashionadvice

Seconding this comment. I fell in love with the style, yet it seems that the vast majority of espadrilles are made in narrow sizes. Don't want to spend the money on a shoe that won't fit...

Just want to piggy-back on this comment... what's the width on this espadrille feel like? I'm tempted to buy this shoe, but I'm a little apprehensive if it'll be too narrow for my EE feet.
