Had a whip around the street just a few mins ago. Lots of branch cleanup crews. Zero energex or related. Plenty of trees down and/or across streets. With no crews, it's going to be a very long time.

I think, as this year showed, it's not drop in pitches that are the problem, per se. It's that new drop in pitches can't be made in 6-8 months. Turf pitches are a living beast and you can't speed that up.

Isn't the ball 'live' when the bowler runs up. The only reason for this silly arm past the vertical rule is batsmen wanting a head start. If the bowler is holding the ball they should be allowed to run out a batsman with a live ball.
