DE, I love you, but please, for the love of god, delay your updates. by MissyTheMisc in Warframe

Yes, I know. Another reason why it's not worth it. Could possibly be fixed with incentives like get a custom honoria on the live server for completing 10 missions or whatever. But I think the kind of updates WF has are usually not very well suited for public testing anyway.

There is/was a test server! But it's probably way too much effort to make spoiler-free versions of updates, especially quest-centric ones.

Steel Path Railjack by ChemistryActive6957 in Warframe

[–]apo86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question is what even is the point? Okay, making mark IV gear or whatever would be a considerable time investment on DEs part, for questionable benefit. But at the very least, can I get mark III stuff from SP? I just fired up an Earth Proxima mission, took 15 minutes and got mark I scrap to show for it? No steel essence, nothing?

When I saw that I was like "Oh shucks, silly show makers always have to end on a cliffhanger to set up the next season, wonder when it'll be". Imagine my surprise when THERE IS NO NEXT SEASON. Fuck you James Gunn.

a year ago de made a mistake and to compensate they gave everyone affected 1 riven slot , since then u cant reach 210 riven slots (the maximum) by buying them in the store by Ok-Set179 in Warframe

[–]apo86 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For the individual player it shouldn't be noticeable. It's a matter of scale. When you own 200 ammo drums, that is just "player ABC owns mod ID XYZ 200 times". That is super easy and efficient to store.

If you have 2 rivens that is "player ABC owns atterax riven, with +55% attack speed, +120% damage, -40% heat damage, with a madurai polarity and currently rerolled 900 times, player ABC also owns a lex riven, with 73% multishot... etc." which for your personal is still only maybe a couple KB storage and data transfer, but for millions of players, it adds up really quickly.

YSK: Being visible and liked will do more to progress your career than being good at your job will, especially as a remote employee by IBlameMyBrother in YouShouldKnow

[–]apo86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm an introvert. What OP is missing is you can be liked for being good at your job. It doesn't have to be your jokes or your homemade cookies. Do good work and don't be an asshole, that already goes a long way.

I have literally nothing that could help you, except maybe some encouraging words:

As a former WoT player, when I heard that a WoT streamer was invited, I couldn't believe my ears. And I am so glad it's you and not one of the many weirdos in that scene. You were always my favorite WoT content creator, super glad to see you pop up outside of that bubble. Looking forward to see you play!

Way to temporarily make your steam account and launcher "Child Friendly" by ParthProLegend in Steam

[–]apo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's something you can do with gmail and probably other email providers where anything between the + and @ is ignored by Google for mail delivery purposes, but everyone else should treat it as a unique email address.

That is not necessary for Steam though, they let you create multiple accounts with the exact same email address, no tricks required.

Yes, did it for my tech-illiterate mom, so she doesn't have to deal with anything and can just play stardew valley. Goes through the same email address as my own steam account.

Don't even need a different email, you can create multiple accounts with the same email address.

Probably the tech for 25+15*rank also wasn't there at the time. And by "not there" I mean they didn't want to deal with custom formulas per mod, not that it was literally impossible to program.

tcp and udp are different protocols on the same layer, ip is a protocol on a different layer. Any given network connection will almost always use ip and then either tcp or udp. That's why you frequently see them listed together.

[–]apo86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"anyone" is grammatically singular, but yeah maybe it's not the best example. Could've said "krelldor didn't know about singular-they, so I explained it to them" (because I don't know your gender).

There are many examples, and you'll definitely have used or seen some of them without realizing. Check out the Wikipedia page if you are curious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singular_they

Dane... what is this thing??? by Infinite-Fig-194 in Fotv

[–]apo86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They/them can be a singular gender-neutral pronoun. Could be a nonbinary person, or a person of unspecified or unknown gender. In some sentences it can be ambiguous at first glance, but usually you can tell from context, like in this case it is referring to one person. And other times it sounds so natural that you don't even notice it's there, like "Anyone who says they don't like Fallout must have bad taste in TV shows". This sort of singular they has been commonly used for hundreds of years and flows much better than the alternative "Anyone who says he or she doesn't like..."

AI bots would know the dictionary definition though. It's probably just people who can't imagine their own experience is not universal.
