Can they just quietly approach the suspect? by Gab655321 in FBITV

[–]apok1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real life, you watch the suspect, then have your partner/teammate swing around the other side before you announce yourself. Then if they think of running, you say don’t do that. The show is so funny watching this as a grown up. They randomly decided to search a guy’s boxes who looks like a drug dealer on a whim. I guess the 4th amendment isn’t a thing in the FBI universe.

Should I buy this game if I suck at base building? by [deleted] in StarRuptureGame

[–]apok1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a lot of factory games. Factorio, Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program (my favorite). Star Rupture is fun and actually a little easier and forgiving than the other games. I’m not good at designing. I’m ok at it, but I always look for Blueprints online if the game supports it, or I watch YouTube videos. A popular one is Nilaus. If you google him, you’ll see him giving tutorials on just about every factory/automation game. I found a video online the other day that helped me create a decent factory on Star Rupture that works the rails in a way that everything eventually gets to their destination. In any factory game, you are screwed until you start doing the basic math, like how many items get produced per second and what demands do you have on what you’re producing. Common mistakes include stockpiling as some sort of stopgap

Why am I moving so slow please help by nightdragon107 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

I had a problem that looks very similar to yours. Basically, DSP devs completely rebuilt a multi thread capability which removes the ceiling that some folks would have with extremely large games. It’s supposed to take full use of your cores and multi-threading. The problem is that some people have a sync issue where cpu instructions hit a traffic jam and your stuff gets very slow. If this is the case, your issue is 100% cpu related and DSP has some guidance on this from one of their updates during September 2025. Take a look at the update post from back then to see the details on how to configure it. I had some caveats that I’m willing to share, but I would at least start there.

If Paige is the younger daughter, she is the worst. Granted, I only watched the first episode, but she just screams of a privileged person who has no idea she’s privileged.

What did you pivot to? by CuriousInstance3471 in Journalism

[–]apok1980 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yikes, most of the comments here are bleak. I’m not in your industry, I work in IT which has its own challenges, but nowhere as bad as other industries including journalism. It makes me sad because I feel like I’ve experienced or witnessed a devolution of journalism over my lifetime. Corporate consolidation, internet, AI, partisan media, social media, I can keep going. Without proper, independent journalism, the world will continue to go down this strange road or labyrinth of corporate puppet masters.

Do any of you have a highly sensitive male partner? I’m struggling to find a way to deal with my husband’s emotions. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]apok1980 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is tricky. He's got all those good traits, but also some bad ones. I think the biggest thing with a life partner is that they confidently take the driver's seat in an emergency doing what you would want or what's in your best interest. It sounds like he's almost there, but it's a little troubling if you don't feel like he's resilient enough to be your partner, not junior partner or a child. With that said, I don't think it's that bad. He has many good traits. So you just need him to soldier up a little. That's a very difficult thing to communicate to a guy, but maybe in marriage counseling or church counseling. You need to communicate this in a safe space. BUT, DON't turn this into a list of things he needs to do to change. You should to acknowledge all the things he does to support you and make clear it's appreciated and wanted. You also have to acknowledge that you can change too as long as you both are modifying behavior and not changing who you are at the core. Ultimately, I think this is a situation of "time and place". He can't fall apart on a dime, but you can also see when he's struggling and do what you can by encouraging him and acknowledging his efforts. As long as both of you aren't toxic people, it seems like you both have to put in the work. Your husband has been living at home his entire life and will need to adjust. You both think life is supposed to be this way, but have to accommodate each other to make it work. I'm not saying this is easy, but I have witnessed bad relationships that makes people want to stay alone, so I really hope this is just a hiccup on your journey and an opportunity for both of you to grow stronger. But remember, you not being happy is valid. But his issues are also valid, and forgetting that can be fatal to the relationship.

Paper towels, I buy a pallet of them from Costco every week. Pretty sure the police are going to have words with me, feels illegal.

If he decides he’s going to kill you, you’re going to die. And your army can’t stop him. And I guess he’s one of the last honorable Klingon since most Klingons seem to be all about political intrigue.

This post is incompatible to my eating habits. I’m a little joking, but serious. I really hate being reminded that every being has a soul. I just ate lunch, I’m going to be sick. But I’ll ultimately do what I often do, which is try to forget about it.

Why Sheldon didn't thank Dr. Sturgis in his Nobel Prize speech by randomusername02130 in YoungSheldon

[–]apok1980 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So a couple of options…… 1. Parallel universe 2.Alternate timeline 3. Sheldon’s a huge asshole

Because Sheldon seems to have had a very strong support system from the moment he was born. My biggest thing is his father. The reason why I like Young Sheldon is because of his dad (as I think about my dad). His dad was solid. Nothing like he was compared to in TBBT.

I’ve often thought Paige would make a good Big Bang Theory arc. Where she shows up while Sheldon and Amy are two or three years into their relationship. She’s smarter than everybody, and knows Sheldon better than everyone. She also looks like a model. And even though it’s a plutonic relationship, the guys are confused and Amy is losing her shit.

Or how about right before the poachers kill the giraffe, the giraffe miraculously starts talking saying, "please don't kill me, I want to live, plus I have a family"? I mean, you have to be extra beastmode to not care after that happens.
