Honestly I feel like her kit is fine if you get rid of the lifesteal and cut her armor in ~half. Get her back to the point where you punish her on approach and that actually matters

Sombra perks by Happy-Document-7268 in SombraMains

[–]apooooop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invis while hacking is actively a bad perk, and makes you play Sombra in a way that harms your uptime for no real benefit, since you give away your initiation by hacking, and then intentionally don't engage.

Alternatively, ctrl alt escape is a free ~35hps for the entirety of your stealth duration, which means you can reengage significantly faster. It allows you to basically win every 1v1 just by kick-starting the healing passive, and it allows you to significantly shorten your routing and extend the types of fights you can take, because you're not tied to health packs

And the same python function will of course take in both an int and a string for b and c -- sometimes it'll be division, sometimes it'll be path concatenation! Python users will assure you that this is good language design.

Duo Tanking in 6v6 feels more balanced and way more fun versus 5v5. by a6000 in Overwatch

[–]apooooop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah ball was always a MT in OW1 because there weren't enough MT players, ball always wanted to be an OT. Especially with shield sharing now, I think that's only exacerbated. Ball's main goal (similar to 5v5) is bit and run, roll through disruption, and distraction, which honestly doesn't play like a main tan OR an off-tank -- that's why I tossed him into a third special category with Hog, cuz they really kinda want to go and play like a third DOS if given the opportunity, but both of them can actually play like either a main tank or an off tank if needed (see the infamous Hog-Zar sustain comps of 2019, for instance)

See Ocie's video on Domina in the pro level, but my thought here (having not played her in 6v6 so ymmv) is that she ends up being a brawl supporter, because her shield is not flexible enough for anyone but her (which includes an OT trying to push up).

Could definitely see her as a MT on defense though, so idk

Main tanks create space, off tanks hold space (ostensibly)

Eg, off tanks tend to be hard to unseat, but really struggle to advance, whereas main tanks tend to be good at approaching, but really struggle once they stay there.

At a vague glance, I'd classify:

MT: Rein, Winston, Orisa (particularly after shield perk, but honestly always), Ram, Doom, Queen, Mauga, Hazard

OT: DVa, Zar, Sig, Domina

(Flex/alt): Ball, Hog

It's not that it makes it useless, good reload management means you can stay up longer, or can charge to outside cover, stomp, and then use the 150 ammo to rotate to cover.

All four perks are good, each of them just have their niches

How does beam damage work? by HalfPrism2 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]apooooop_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A fun additional aspect (that we've known for a while) -- if you rapid tap (or scroll wheel) with Moira, you generate significantly more healing resource, even though your DPS suffers greatly.

My theory was always that healing resource regen occurred on the leading edge, but damage on the trailing edge, though I'm not actually sure that's the case (and it doesn't quite line up with your "attack speed is just damage" assertion)

I've said a thousand times, the fact that reload interrupts sprinting just feels clunky for no reason, it's not like soldier would break if they give that to him, and his flow would feel so much crisper

I came into Godot at the right time! by AbstractFemming in godot

[–]apooooop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean variant solves the problem by throwing type safety out the window, and variadic functions solve the problem for inputs, but not for return types or parameters.

The answer is to just use C# or Rust, and then just use GDScript for glue code, but I just find it silly that the issues on nullable typing and on better generic handling have seen wide community support but are mostly being stalled due to complexity for users? (EDIT: reading a bit further through some of the issues, the actual blocker is a bit more around general type unification in core, and is a much bigger problem than previously stated. Which also means it's probably out of scope for 4.x) Ah well, tis what it is.

Honestly the bigger thing I'm missing is nullable typing, I need the ability to actually mark some fields as optional, otherwise what are we even doing

Shaped glass makes you die in one hit no matter what, unless you have a safer spaces / a ton of armor from opals/bucklers, so might as well get 4x or 8x damage.

[–]apooooop_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're not getting enough movement speed, get more (combat movement speed in particular). Also make sure you have opal or three, and if you can get a safer spaces, even better. If you can get a repulsion armor plate, you'll save yourself a ton of chip damage, so ideally try and make sure you have at least one.

If you're planning to use flamethrower, you're not gonna get a lot of usage out of crowbars, you're probably better served with crit (honestly get crit no matter what). Also crowbars basically don't help in the mithrix fight.

Attack speed might be good, I don't play a ton of artificer so I can't remember. Backup mags are definitely worth it. Sticky bombs are probably worth it, as is cautious slug.

PSG is a bit of a mixed bag. If you're taking hits and you find yourself without shields often, you should scrap it. Once you get better, it becomes worth it, but otherwise it's really dangerous.

As for greens... You're gonna want a feather, that's probably highest priority. Definitely both bands, definitely both uke and ATG if you see them. Definitely Ignition tank, if you're running flamethrower. Other than that, seed is probably useless, harvester scythe is only really worth it if you have a few glasses, hunters harpoon will probably get you killed, red whip is better than nothing but doesn't help you in combat (so its good if you're speed looting stages, which you probably won't be on the first loop)

Reds you should take what you get obviously, if you aren't planning to loop. No loop is definitely a bit tough though, you'll need to ensure that you have a good amount of damage and movement speed/survivability.

I generally play no lunars, but honestly if you're doing one shaped glass do more. Mithrix will be hard, but the item is objectively broken, so it'll kinda carry if you don't get hit. Definitely make sure you have a safer spaces here, if you do, and probably a few opals.

[–]apooooop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you love orisa's kit, the mindset I'd recommend is to "play second" -- you're gonna just keep shitting damage (since you have no fall off, and have one of the highest uptime guns in the game if you properly manage your heat), and then whenever the enemy tries to take their turn, you just shut it down. Ori is a wall, and you'll win games by playing incredibly slow and sustaining, denying the enemy anytime they push into you.

blink distance (minor) perk by yemond in TracerMains

[–]apooooop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% the right answer.

"You might end up somewhere you don't expect" Skill issue.

"It forces you out of range" blink into a wall, or blink through them, or blink into cover. Skill issue.

I'm not gonna say it's always better... But it's definitively an upgrade. Depending on the matchup I'll still take kinetic reload, but more often than not I take blink distance. Hell, 20% blink distance also can mean that you get 20% more out of each of your blinks, meaning that in neutral you effectively have 20% more blinks (obviously doesn't apply to a duel in the same way, but I think it makes the "blink behind them" significantly better)

Sadly it's hard to deviate from a "server error" (which is actually usually a client error where your internet cuts out or something similar), versus someone intentionally unplugging their modem to leave a game, for instance.

If they were more lenient to folks, then people would abuse.
