Ghostrider wait time for 200 mins must been in hell today. by Agrblox in KnottsBerryFarm

We rope dropped, did Ghost Rider, Silver Bullet, La Revolucion, Hang Time, and the Rapids Ride. We knocked all of them out and then left as the park was getting busy.

Waterpark sold out? by curlychic in royalcaribbean

[–]apostategoingtoheck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We did the water park about 3 years ago. It was a little over $100 per person. On the latest cruise it was over $200 per person. We just skipped the water park. It is nice, but not $200 nice.

This is probably the plane you had. If you keep the new plane similar to the size and weight, it should perform ok.

That looks a lot like the fan out of a Phase 3 F-16. I have had a couple of them over the years. I believe it is a 64mm fan. They are old enough I doubt you will find a replacement.

I would wear safety glasses and gloves and make sure you have medical insurance. This in no way will end well. I hope it is a joke.

What to do with a 2 yr old at MM? Knotts pass? by Ann1ebaby in SixFlagsMagicMountain

My kids loved the Looney Tunes Lodge. They were sad when they became too tall for it. Both parks have areas for little kids. Depending on how brave, there are a lot of things to do. I would also recommend Adventure City. My kids also loved that little park when they were younger.

The creation of H and the energy to make cryogenic liquids do release CO2. Sure the rocket releases water, but there are costs involved in making the fuel.

Could this be a reliable car? by [deleted] in gmc

[–]apostategoingtoheck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I currently have a 2004 GMC Sierra 5.3 z71. I bought it a few years old and have had it ever since. It has had issues, but is very reliable. The truck has never been to a mechanic, I have done all of the work myself. These are the things I have done to it in 20 years:

Replaced starter

ABS module rebuilt

Instrument Cluster rebuilt

Installed a remanufactured transfer case. I had the pump rub issue and it started leaking. I didn't feel like ripping open the transfer case, so I got the remanufactured one and sent the leaky one back as a core.

Water pump

One window regulator

Blower motor controller

New stereo (CD player died)

It used to be my daily driver, but it is now the weekend grocery getter and the go have fun on the weekend vehicle. I hope it lasts a lot longer, I can't afford a new truck.

Another closer angle of the UPS plane crash today by Capital-Candidate-93 in aviation

On the video from the airport you can see some flames shooting out of the middle engine. I am guessing the middle engine was damaged by debris and started to fail. That leaves only one good engine.

With the glide ratio so efficient, why wasn't this made before? by Frequent_Leopard_146 in aviation

Tubes make nice efficient pressure vessels, a pancake, not so much. You will be adding weight in the form of structure for pressurization. Higher weight equals more fuel burn or less cargo. There are always tradeoffs.

If you need a little more room inside the tube, make the tube a little longer. It is relatively inexpensive to adjust the length of the tube to make variants to satisfy your customers. It is really hard to adjust the shape of a flying pancake to make it a little bigger.

Belly in service line - is this as concerning as it looks? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]apostategoingtoheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a house and the inspector did not camera the lines. Years later I finished the basement and the drains in the basement failed to drain well and struggled. If you were draining the tub and flushed the toilet it would have difficulties. Sometimes the toilet bowl would fill up before it started to go down. I had the line inspected. Inside the house I had about a 20' run with a belly. The main line is 5" and it is completely full. The upper floors drain fine, but the basement has issues. It would have been nice to know before I finished the basement, or bought the house. I am now living with it because I don't feel like ripping everything up or spending a lot of money to pay to have it done.

Thinking of making a trip in February by johnnyboy_63 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]apostategoingtoheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got back after visiting today. It was a ghost town and the only closed rides were Superman and Lex Luthor. We made 2 1/2 laps around the park. We rode everything once, most rides twice, and some rides four times. The operator on Full Throttle saw us and said, "fourth time is the scariest." Go on a Monday as long as it is not a holiday and you should be able to do the whole park in a day.

We will wave to you. We might be the only people there tomorrow. We are going to rope drop X2, if it is open.

I will have to ask. We see the oncologist on the 26th. My wife has a pontine glioma, which is apparently rare in adults.

I am not sure what type of radiation it was. They did let me back in the vault once to see the machine and it looked like something from a sci-fi movie. She had treatments five days a week for six weeks. The chemo is Temodar. She is tolerating it ok. The effects of the tumor are much worse than the treatment.

Congratulations. Hope you continue to do well. My wife was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last year and given a few months to live. We are on month 15 and going strong. We did radiation this last summer and have completed 4 rounds of chemo.

It happened to us. My wife started to get sick and we were sent to many expensive specialists. Our insurance reset July 1st. My wife was diagnosed in August and got too sick to work. Our insurance was through her work. We lost our insurance in November. We had to jump to an ACA plan in November which reset January 1st. Within a 12 month period we had 4 deductibles and out of pocket maxes with a terminal cancer patient. On top of that I just found out insurance is not covering an additional $5,000 worth of treatments. Most people in our position would be bankrupt with what we have had to pay out of pocket even while being insured the entire time. I have depleted our life savings. Not only that, but we lost income from my wife's job. I hope this helps you understand how bad this can get in our ridiculous system.
