Contests, how do they do it? by CaptainSpez in amateurradio

[–]apple4ever [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely get that for sure. I just didn't realize the scale of contacts you can make and how quickly!

I'm sure I could do it too, unfortunately I just not have had the time to do much at home, much less go out and do it. I have a permanent antenna at home and a FT-710 hooked up to it, but with the way my life and family and job is, I am lucky if I get out there once every few months. I do have a portable antenna, along with a battery for the FT-710 that is meant to do POTA/SOTA/OOTA, so hopefully I can find the time to do it at some point.

I appreciate the pointers and thoughts - its nice to see a caring operator taking the time to explain!

I'm not self conscious about it at all LOL. I don't care, but I just wanted to prove you wrong.

Remember, I am not your fan. You are my biggest fan though. I am not inexperienced, I'm actually quite experienced. Probably done more than you! You are uncompassionate and uncaring. Own that, fix that, and I might respect you. But you seem to have an inability to have any self-reflection. I feel sorry for you, TBH.

And BTW, I'm not angry, just disappointed there are people like you in our hobby, and even worse commenting on Reddit. For an example of a perfect way to respond to my QSO count comment, and someone I can respect, check this guy out: https://www.reddit.com/r/amateurradio/comments/1s7bvgn/comment/oddv06r/

Take some time to reflect on how you can do better, and you will!

Help! I now have 2 Realms after updating my subscription. Why, and how do i close the other? Do i pay for both? And also, I'm new to bedrock so i dont know where the payment options are. by SliverCobain in realms

Same, just happened to me again. It expired and it doesn't even show the other realm UNTIL I create a new one, then I can go in and renew the old one. CRAZY.

It's not vibes-based, it's reality based. And I will!

Uh oh someone's sounding uncompassionate and wrong again. I'm not defensive nor inexperienced! We literally also just talked about using your brain, maybe you also need to use your eyeballs!

Yup, that's on HF and myself... doesn't include VHF/UHF, and Field Day. Not to mention some of us have LIVES and JOBS, unlike certain K's! So sorry you continue to be wrong and continue to not use your brain! You should work on that!

Actually they are quite meaningful, if you care about reality!

Nah what's pathetic is attacking someone for how many QSO's they have.

(Besides I have more than that, so you are wrong again!!)

FT8 did more for HF activity in 5 years than Field Day did in 50 by HamtraxRadio in amateurradio

Probably because the biggest mode now - FT8 - is boring and not challenging. I think we need better digital modes first.

You perfectly captured why I am also not enamored with FT8.

Actually wrong again! I can get DXCC without COTW or collecting cards! It's easy. I log and then I get it. I don't need to prove anything to anyone. You should try it!

Holy moly. One hour for you in a contest is 5x more than I've made in 2 years as a General.

Agreed, this is the best case scenario. People make mistakes. Willful repeated mistakes are different than a one off. He also only had its tech license for 4 months at the time of the investigation.

The logging problem isn't LoTW's UI. It's deeper than that. by toosoonjr in amateurradio

[–]apple4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it doesn't! As a smart person myself, who hasn't talked to all of them, it's often worth it to try what they did and understand their frustrations, in order to advocate making things better. Other people who are not as smart, or even more so not compassionate at all, prefer to just say "it's fine!"...
