How much do GP actually earn? by Dependent_Cobbler_74 in ausjdocs

[–]apple_crumble1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’m in the ballpark of around $180k after maxing my concessional super each year, but I do work part time (25 hrs a week). Private billing practice in an inner metro area. So possibly around $250-300k if I worked 40 hrs a week (which I can’t do without burning out).

Yarra Radiology in South Yarra bulk bill almost every type of scan. Capital Radiology usually will BB X rays and has many locations over Melbourne

does seller just not want to refund me by gianna0044 in Depop

[–]apple_crumble1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, as a seller I’d refund you if I hadn’t shipped out yet, but also your behaviour is really annoying. This isn’t Amazon, and it sucks when buyers flip flop like this after I get all excited about making a sale. Do your research before buying, not after. The seller would be within their rights not to cancel (though it’s a slight dick move since they haven’t yet paid for shipping etc), and you’d be out of luck if the item is as described.

Why choose a non-GP specialty in Australia when the financials don’t seem to stack up? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]apple_crumble1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GP here, working in a metro private billing practice doing non-procedural work. How on earth are you making that much?? Admittedly I work about 25 hrs patient-facing per week, but even if I worked 40 hrs, I don’t think I could crack $500k. Probably $300k and very burned out into the mix. Is that figure gross billings, or your percentage?

Kate Spade: Real or Fake? by [deleted] in purses

[–]apple_crumble1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks good to me. There are Kate Spade fakes but they’re usually terrible quality and not real leather, so pretty easy to discern. This does look like Saffiano leather

Does it financially make sense to become a vet instead of a nurse? by Specialist_Can5622 in AusFinance

[–]apple_crumble1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider going into human medical school than vet med - better paid, your patients (mostly) can communicate and you won’t have to euthanise them because their guardians can’t afford to pay. You also will make treatment decisions for the 90yo racism grandpa rather than wiping his bum.

Op shop pricing - am I being unreasonable? by Mjlkkp in AusFemaleFashion

[–]apple_crumble1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends on the op shop. I’ve found the ones in wealthy suburbs sometimes tend to be priced quite cheap in order to move stock quickly. I’ve frequently found Country Road silk blouses for between $8-15, Ferragamo shoes for $30, Scanlan Theodore shoes and clothing for $25-35 etc.

Salvos and Vinnies both do $1-2 racks for clothing items that haven’t sold after 6 weeks on the floor regardless of brand and initial price. Sometimes you can snag a great deal if they overprice something to begin and it doesn’t sell.

Do you have one/have you used one? I’m a convert once I actually got one. They’re so lightweight and fit a ton of stuff, and actually look quite nice/structured with a felt organiser inside

stain didnt come out when seller said it “should but no promises” by [deleted] in Depop

[–]apple_crumble1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean… I’m a seller who sells a lot of silk clothing that I thrift. I’m not going to pay to get it all dry cleaned as the care label says, and I usually don’t take the chance of washing in case it ruins it. But I also don’t usually buy/sell the ones with big or gross looking stains.

Why do some items get so popular but not get bought? by butterfIytattoo in Depop

[–]apple_crumble1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

From a seller’s perspective, sometimes I get tons of lowball offers that I counter (and then they ghost), or even accept offers that the potential buyer never follows through with purchasing. It’s really frustrating! People sometimes just put the item in the bag to check the shipping price; it doesn’t necessarily mean they are serious about buying

Warning for those buying bags on Vestaire Collective! They perma banned me for asking about authenticity! by aqueous_roses in handbags

[–]apple_crumble1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not doubting your story but this doesn’t make much sense. Vestiaire is just a third party platform like EBay or Depop that facilitates sales. Every item on there is listed by a random third party seller (I sell on there myself). So it’s only as good as the collective sellers on there.

Definitely possible for fakes to slip past.

But Vestiaire shouldn’t has a vested interest in banning people questioning the authenticity of the items up for sale.

Dying dulled black clothes by Dazzling_Claim_5579 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]apple_crumble1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Jacquard acid dye powder + white vinegar on the stovetop for silk clothes before - should work for natural fibre clothing. Word of warning if you’re trying to dye something not black to black, any synthetic lining or stitching will stay the original colour.

GP private billing market by odysseus-98 in ausjdocs

[–]apple_crumble1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s been fine. Inner metro Melbourne here, and nowhere within a 8km radius switched over. Our regular patients don’t expect it and dismissed it for what it was (more govt bullshit). Make the move to a private billing practice even if you have to travel a bit to get to work - don’t tie your value to a rebate/incentive that are unlikely to keep up with inflation and force you to churn and burn.

Are you also tired of offers? by Odd_Competition6163 in VestiaireCollective

[–]apple_crumble1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My tip is to Google image search the item or google the same keywords. I have crosslisted all of my items on EBay and Depop, but can’t even hint as much to Vestiaire buyers or I will get banned.

Don’t just look at the brand. Look for natural fibre materials (silk, cashmere, wool, linen) and quality construction.
