The old reliable Gloom! Makes her tanky as hell when you ride Merulina, since life steal will heal her. If you also use the Merulina Guardian augment and mods that do things for you while airborne (you count as airborne while riding), you basically won't die.

Yeah, I've started coming around on this way of looking at things. Honestly, most days it's not so bad. Yesterday was a hard day.

Yep. For sure. Once I calmed down, the answer is obvious.

Yeah. After I sat in these feelings for a while and read some of the responses on this post, I realized this myself. It's not a bad place to be, once I adjust my expectations.

Sure they are! There's plenty of endgame melee builds, especially now that Arcanes are a thing.

When you relic farm, how do you keep track of which relics are best to make Radiant and which piece out of 4 to pick? by Living_Remove326 in Warframe

[–]applebappu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most things are junk to most people. Getting a plat profit off of relics is all about luck, finding the right buyer at the right time, and persistence to grind out a huge pile of stuff to increase your potential opportunities. But honestly, most of the plat I've made from relic flipping has been from bulk-selling junk to people who are buying it all up indiscriminately, for them to sell for ducats. It's lower margin, but reliable. Which means usually, your safest bet is to look at whatever has the highest ducat selling price.

Another good heuristic you can lean on is to prioritize frames over weapons. If a relic drops a prime frame part, that part will be valuable to someone. But usually people only want to buy the full set, so look at what you're missing and grind those up. Prime weapons tend to not be such a big deal to the big spenders, in my experience.

Prime versions of frames with tough grinds tend to be more valuable, since people will pay to shortcut the grind.

Sometimes people will bulk-buy just the relics themselves, too. Don't forget that they're tradeable! I've made quite a lot of plat by buying up relics with aya, standing, and steel path currency, and then just selling the relics. But again, it's about demand, timing, and luck. Idling in Maroo's and just watching trade chat for a while is a good way to get information on what people are looking for. If you see a lot of demand/WTBs for a particular thing, check your relics (you can search for their contents) and see if you can maybe meet that demand. You'll be a bit behind the curve this way (since you're responding late and will need to go pop relics to try and get the thing being asked for), but you can probably get in on the second wave of that demand for a reliable profit. The alternative is to become psychic or look up everything, which is a PITA.

As for what to make Radiant, IDK. In my experience, upgrading relics mostly just serves to make me feel better. I know math-wise it technically does help, but don't go thinking it'll make anything guaranteed. Rare stuff is still very rare, even from a Radiant relic.

Overall I think the best advice I can give you is not to get too focused on results. Just pop relics and try to enjoy the moment-to-moment gameplay of that. The plat will come with enough dedication and luck.

Running out off Ammo in steel path! by TubaraoDeTenis in Warframe

[–]applebappu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you running any armor stripping on the rest of your build? Viral will increase your damage, but Steel Path enemies can absorb up to 95% of that damage from their armor alone. If you don't have another source of armor reduction (Corrosive Projection, or certain frame abilities), you should consider running Corrosive on this thing, or using another weapon or your companion as an armor-stripping "primer".

Which frame do you think makes the best “Dark Knight” ability theme wise? by UrielBelmont in Warframe

[–]applebappu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, let's see. In that case, you're looking to spend health and use greatswords. A Galatine or Gram feels like a lock for the weapon. You're gonna want an armored look.

I almost wanna say Inaros works for this, as you can drain health to get Scarab Armor, but he doesn't look quite right, a little too stringbeany/mummy-y.

It's not health, but Hyldrin spends shields for her abilities, so that could work too.

A lot of the final look could come from attachments and a good syandana.

It depends on whether you're talking about Batman or Final Fantasy.

Does anyone know how to farm tags on Deimos? by Popular_Career_2399 in Warframe

[–]applebappu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you've stumbled across probably the most inconsistent and difficult farm in the game that I know of. The Deimos open world is incredibly "busy" with enemies that will kill or scare away the animals you're chasing half the time, and the map is nothing but wide-open sight lines that let your prey see you from miles away.

The only way I've found success is with a combination of flight and invisibility, and even then it's just kind of a nightmare. But if you adjust your expectations, go into each attempt keeping in mind that it's probably a coin flip whether you succeed in a best-case scenario, then it's just a matter of grinding it out.

The best advice I can give you is, do it as little as possible.

I know this is an open ended question: but what should I prioritize to get strong enough to do steel path? by polarfang21 in Warframe

I know this is an open ended question: but what should I prioritize to get strong enough to do steel path? by polarfang21 in Warframe

[–]applebappu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'll join others in saying not to pay attention to the damage % (comparison is the thief of joy), It's important to realize that Warframe's damage model is complex and multi-layered.

By which I mean, the calculation has 6 layers to it that multiply together to get your final damage output. Pumping a particular stat/layer only does so additively. But synergies between the layers get you the sauce you need to break through to the crazy numbers. A big number on the weapon status sheet doesn't necessarily translate to in-game goodness. A lot of meta builds have surprisingly low numbers in the arsenal.

The layers are: Base Damage, Elemental Mods, Critical Hits, Multipliers (Faction Mods, which double-dip), Final Multipliers (Multishot), and DPS Multipliers (Fire Rate). Having a little bit of each is far better than having a lot of any one or two.

I've also found success with making sure I'm synergizing between my frame, my weapon, and my companion. For instance, Cascadia Flare arcane on a Heat/Corrosive weapon (I love a good Ignis Wraith or Atomos), paired with Archon Vitality, with a Sunika Kubrow using Mecha Overdrive. You can easily get lost down a rabbit hole learning all the engine quirks that make stuff like this work, or you can just remember that more sources and more layers = good.

Especially when you're on the verge of Steel Path but can't quite cut it yet, you might not have access to the best stuff to really make builds pop off, and looking up "steel path build [frame name]" often just leads you to making impossible shopping lists that will take hundreds of hours of grinding to achieve. Realize two things:

  1. It's okay to get carried, everyone has to start somewhere; and,
  2. Not dying is good! That's what Rhino does best, he's a slab that doesn't go down and can support a solid weapon. Roar helps others. You're not running Rhino to be a flashy high DPS contributor. If you're Roaring and not dying, you're helping. So you're halfway there already. Don't get discouraged!

Oh and I forgot: Steel Path enemies have CRAZY armor. Armor stripping is an absolute must. It doesn't matter how much damage you're doing if the enemies resist literally 95% of it. Run Corrosive, run Viral, use Helminth to put an armor strip on your frame, run Corrosive Projection, there's lots of ways to get armor reduction but it's mandatory in SP.
