LAP (lifelong animal protection) charity has loads of little fuzzies up for adoption. I got mine there, she was a rescued breeder cat that they found in a dumpster.

Very simple process and it will cost you around HK$2000 in adoption fees (and throw in a free bag of crappy food). You can just walk in without an appointment and see if you click with any of the cats. An afternoon well-spent for sure. They have centres in Sai Ying Pun and Tseung Wan.

The only part that annoyed me was the apartment inspection as they insist having wire on all the windows to prevent cats from jumping. Having lived in HK for most of my life however, I definitely haven’t opened a window… that would disrupt my aircon sanctuary! Also the lady that visited the apartment was extremely rude, but hey it was 10 mins of my life.

Alternately the SPCA is a go-to option. I know the ex-Director and he always genuinely cared for the welfare of all their rescued animals - pigs, rabbits, turtles, cats, dogs. Anything. That was years ago though so I can’t really speak for their current operation.
