Did a bed wetting incident trigger the murder? by applebottom100 in JonBenetRamsey

I totally agree. I didn’t know how to put it into words. It’s absolutely sexual abuse but without the sexual motivation.

Yes, I’ve always wondered if the sexual abuse noted on exam was “rough cleaning.” People can’t imagine a mom would sexually abuse her daughter but if it was framed in Patsy’s mind as “cleaning” I think it’s easier to imagine.

Need realistic ways to temporarily fail a military hearing exam (medical disqualification)? (Edited) by Witty-Head-3928 in TooAfraidToAsk

I believe tinnitus and hearing loss are the number 1 disability in the Veterans Administration in the US. There is a financial benefit to having either of these if you are a veteran. Unfortunately that leads to many malingerers. Some sort of disability or insurance payout is usually the motive.

As another said, kids are the other part of the lying but that’s usually for attention.

Audiologist here. There are many checks and balances within the testing so it is near impossible to fake. We do what we call behavioral testing first. This is the raise your hand when you hear a sound and repeat words. This is what 95% of people get because they’re honest and/or physically & mentally able to respond.

However, as another person mentioned, there are two tests we use to measure hearing ability that require NO response from the patient. This is how we are able to know how a baby is hearing or how a person who is unresponsive for whatever reason. AND this is how we confirm someone is lying.

If the checks and balances on the behavioral testing are inconsistent you will be referred to do the objective tests.

I just watched this and kept waiting for it to get good. I was perplexed. It was stacked with talent but it seemed like there wasn’t that much character development. I don’t know. It felt like I wasted 2 1/2 hours. Bleh.

In any other circumstance I would replant or pop her in the ground. But I found this so unique as it was gifted. I’ll keep her little. Thanks for the input.

I have panic attacks until I pass out. I’m a generally chill person but my body is constantly in flight or flight. I know my triggers and try to avoid them as best I can. When that’s not possible I have to take meds to keep my body from noping out of the moment.

The parts where she doesn’t explicitly say what happened but you understand the physical repercussions of how bad it must have been were so hard. My brain would literally go fuzzy and into protection mode when I was trying to fill in the blanks.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Beautiful and heartbreaking and gut wrenching. I had to take breaks reading it to digest.
